Before I go into last night's ep, let me again repeat how great it is to have a TV show that you can chew over for days after, one in which every detail may be important, one where nothing is clear or handed to you on a plate. More TV should be like Lost!
Unfortunately, this was the first ep I wasn't totally in love with, but I knew going into it that that would be the case. I find Jack to be boring (which is odd, since I find even the most minor of the other characters terribly interesting), so I knew the ep with his flashbacks wouldn't thrill me.
On the other hand, while I hadn't thought my love of Locke could grow further, it did. Not only do I respect the character, I'm starting to get a little worried about him: He's got such a connection with the island... but what if the island is evil? It almost seems like that evil would feed into him through his connection with it. But gods above, do I love that man anyway. (And hello slashy! After he pulled Jack up, and the two were next to each other on the ground? Did you see how Jack moved his hip closer to Locke's? Gah! *mind blown*)
A twisty thought entered my head this morning: Claire's baby is going to be a potentially big problem. Not because of the care or time it will take, but the (monsters? predators? things that eat humans) that are on the island. What attracts non-human hunters? Weakness: sickness or babies. Plus, it's not like the baby will be quiet if they're all hiding from something. After seeing how the group almost turned into a mob last night, won't it be interesting if they get it into their heads that the baby might end up getting them all killed?
This morning I was thinking about Jack's father. No, I don't believe it was a real hallucination (though it may still have been all in Jack's head -- but produced by the island, not by dehydration or lack of sleep or normal reasons). Do I believe it was chance that it made Jack run off the cliff? Nope. Not for a second. And in a related note: What happened to the body? At first I thought maybe he was traveling without it (since there was the issue with the paperwork), but he reacted as thought it was gone... I think. Though he may have just been getting the "wahh wahhh I hate daddy!" out, too...
Sayid & Sawyer: LOVING THEM. Especially Sawyer.
Next week's preview looked insane! How in the world are we supposed to wait seven days for it?
This Saturday they're re-showing two eps. Does anyone know which two? The pilot would make the most sense (so they can try to draw even more people in), but I bet it'll be the two latest eps.
And YAY YAY YAY! Lost is in the top ten TV shows for the whole week, so it shouldn't be canceled!
Edit: Odd. I kept having to resist writing "the Island" instead of "the island". It feels like the Island merts that. It feels alive. It feels as if it's the Island itself that is evil, not someone or something on it...

Date: 2004-10-21 09:50 am (UTC)You reminded me about the dolls. Does that mean Claire's child may be a girl? It'd certainly help give the dolls a home.
And yeah, I totally agree with you on Jack and Sayid. Saywer is still iffy for me. And I don't like Locke as much as you do.
Right now my favorite characters are Kate, Claire and Boone.
And I don't know what two episodes. I expect it to be Tabula Rasa and White Rabbit, but I could be wrong. They could be showing the first two eps again.

Gah, those dolls gave me chills! At first I thought he was seeing that dead chick (from the beginning of the ep) in the water!

Date: 2004-10-21 10:43 am (UTC)Bah. If he's involved in anything, I don't want to know about it. He's stupid! And he's a lifeguard?! Who can't save anyone on land OR in the water? I don't mind looking at him for short times, but you can have him when it comes to slashy things!
:)

Date: 2004-10-21 10:45 am (UTC)Ah! Sorry, but FFXI takes up my entire computer (it demands full screen, and you can't run third party software in the background), so at night I'm as good as MIA!

I'm tempted, but I want to avoid spoilers as much as I can! Thanks though!
