RP/character dithering

thistlechaserFirst part about RPing, second about FFXI.
For the last four? five? hours, I've been RPing with one person. We've been ICly "doing laundry" (basically just stuffing stuff into a machine and then waiting), so we've just been talking. For hours. The characters taking turns asking each other questions and getting to know each other. Sounds boring? Oddly, it's not... and more importantly, I can't believe how much more I'm learning about my own character!
However, I'm a little worried OOCly: ICly, Jack has a secret. A big one. He knows werewolves exist, but he cannot tell anyone. If he did, either the werewolves would probably kill him or the wrong person/thing would find out and kill him. He ICly knows he has to keep this secret, and he has no problems with not saying it, but the problem is, he's basically an open book and he's giving a darned lot away nonverbally and by what he's /not/ saying. And if that's not bad enough, this person he's talking with is a reporter. :}
Those who have RPed with me know that I really don't have issues with my characters being killed. So long as it's IC, it's fine with me. But... I also have this odd thing going on in my head. My last character with the name of "Jack" was ICly tortured to death, and of late I've been sort of worrying that I doomed this character by naming him that. (That's very silly, I know.) It's just that the last Jack was a nice guy (mostly), and this Jack is a really nice guy, and I'd feel guilty if I got him killed. That doesn't make sense, I know, but that's how I feel.
But anyway, if it happens, so long as it's IC, then I'm cool with it. I may feel guilty about it, but whatever is IC should happen. :)
FFXI: It surprised the heck out of me, but I spent hours on the game today! I spent longer online today than I have total in the last week or two. While it wasn't anything exciting (just farming in the Canyon and digging up bones), for some reason I sort of had fun. And I got tons of stuff to sell too! So woo! I wonder if this means I'm over my burn-out?
Sooner or later (likely sooner), I'm going to need to get thief leveled some. It's my main job's subjob, and I can't let it become gimped. Just wish I didn't have to go into the Dunes with some random party to do it...

Date: 2004-12-12 06:26 pm (UTC)First off, he's neither a cop nor an ex-cop. Second off, he's much, much younger than the previous Jack. Third off, his hair is definitely not what one might call Police Issue. Fourth off, he's a lazy so-and-so, which is definitely not the cop. Fifth, as far as I know he's not a masochist. You may yet surprise me. And sixth, he hasn't had the idiocy to get 'involved' with a Grayson. At least if the Garou are going to kill you, they'll tell you why and do it to your face. :)

*laughs* I totally can't see that fitting at all, probably luckily. He likes everything easy and smooth and non-troublesome and... well, easy. Seeking out pain... *laughs* Wow. Nope, not a match. :)
There is one little nod I added to him based on the old Jack, but it's nothing cop-related... eh, not exactly.

Oh, and I have to tell you, I'm dying with curiosity as to what Grayson is! (But don't tell me!) I've resisted googling for that background "odd thing about him" effect he has, because it's fun not knowing!
