*rolls over dead* Such a busy weekend. So much more stuff coming up in the next couple days. I need a vacation from work just to keep up with all the FFXI stuff! :P

Friday: A group of LS people headed off to the ferry to try to get some new NMs and/or the Sea Horror, so I joined them. Pirates showed up once (yay sand charm!) and the phantom showed up once (woo, ice spikes for Ceh!) but no Horror or new NMs. Still, it was fun to spend time with LS people. Was very nice to be on the boat and not have to fish! Was very very very nice to be able to out-pull higher level people with my Stun.

Saturday: I did chocobo digging. I dug on Friday before and after the boat trip, and I spent hours today digging. I have spent more time (and way way way more money) digging post-A45 level than I did all the levels before A45 put together, and I still have not leveled to A40. *boggle* If I wasn't able to make a profit at this point, I would have long since given up on digging. And if it takes this long to level from A45 -> A40, I cannot imagine A40 -> 35, 30, 25, 20, etc. It's a wonder that anyone ever gets to A10. Bah. But still, I made a good amount of money, so I suppose I should be happy enough.

Sunday: Sunday felt like the busiest day I've ever had in FFXI, but that can't be true. I wasn't feeling well all day, which added to the stress and made it feel busier, I think. Day started with our "Escort static" group. Well, no, actually it started before that. I dug for a couple hours, then Draque asked me about our farming plans for the day. I hadn't known we were a go on that, so once others (Beanie) logged on, I firmed up plans to go after Escort. But this meant we needed level 40 cap stuff and lots of meds ASAP, so I was in a rush to gather everything before Escort (and I made the meds while waiting for it to start).

Once Escort finished we went into the Aqueducts! Yay! Not exactly a pretty place, but tons of new and interesting mobs! I love love love fighting fomor, plus we killed some stegos and tarou... um. Toro... those other dinosaur-like ones.

We had funny luck with the fomors dropping panties (special subligars for level 50 JSE). We needed 1 SMN panty and 2 MNK panties. We killed (I believe) 5 of each type of fomor and got 4 SMN panties and 0 MNK. Heh! Zub just happened to walk by as a SMN panty dropped, so we pushed it off onto him. That's our LS for you! Show up to say hi and we'll give you a hard-to-get quest item! Heehee.

Part of our reason for going farming in there was to try to get silica (which is needed to make glass sheets, which are needed to make other new items). The drop rate was really, really bad (only got 2 pieces of it in many hours of farming). Bah.

After that we scurried off to get Dani's RSE done. It's so amazing the difference in RSE race/sex times! Hume male, especially at a reasonable time like last night, would be a mad house, but Dani (female elf) had the place to herself for nearly all of the time. The night went much better than we could have expected (three of the four times we needed keys they dropped on the first kill, and three of the four times we found chests right away). Still, it took a couple hours, but it was in the Maze so I didn't mind at all! (Sometimes the Maze feels like a second home to me. I still get lost in the newbie zones, but I know the Maze like the back of my hand!)

Coming week: Fortunately or unfortunately, it's not going to get any less busy too soon. Tonight we have to farm for more CoP mission items (oh, that's at 6. I thought it was at 5 and was in a panic because I wasn't ready). Tomorrow is Eco and I should probably work on clearing my fomor hate (hope that won't be an issue tonight). Then Wednesday is our next big CoP mission (4-3? 4-something, the flying dragon).

I don't really feel ready for 4-3 yet. Oh, I have most of the stuff purchased that I need (just need to grab an au lait! Must remember to do that!), I just don't feel mentally ready yet. Bah.

Screnshots!

Fomor fighting! -- These fights were so funny. Both the MNK and the SMN fomor were Taru, as is our tank. I felt silly trying to hit the fomor, because it looked like two small children were fighting! I kept wanting to grab Nif with one hand and the fomor with the other and pull them apart and make them stand in corners. :P

Recall the Friendship Quest that I had to stand in line for? I got some pictures of that! It still amazes me that for the most part people actually waited in nice lines and didn't cut/mob the area. Line in the orc camp -- the text is so embarrassing. I had /say filtered for most of the event, just to avoid all the "lol"s and "lmao" and all that other AOL-crap. Another line, this time in the undead place! People were way more stressed and angry on this line than the other one... plus it took a lot longer. Bah.

Summerfest means decorations and fireworks are everywhere! Well, not Summerfest. What's it named this year? Sun Breeze? Stupid. It should be called Summerfest each year. But whatever you call it, the towns sure are pretty!

Draque and I on the airship -- I can't put my finger on why, but I always love pictures of Draque and I together. Something about our hight difference? Our color difference? I think we look good together. (Don't hit me, Aurian! I don't (necessarily) mean that way!) It always seems like we're sharing a moment or something...

Gyeh! If it's any consolation, I don't feel mentally ready for 4-2 either. I'm hoping that our farming session this evening will help cement the teamwork/mission mindset.

I think part of the problem is that it has been on the cards for so long that I think the edge isn't there, but don't worry! If I'm anything to go by you will shortly be getting the familiar stomach flipflops associated with doing missions and then you'll be in the right frame of mind. :3

I'm hoping that as well, yeah. (And that's all the more reason that I want to be sure to be ready in time! Hopefully everything will go well tonight, which will put us in a better mindset for Wednesday.)

Has anyone talked to Lin and company yet to see how/why they failed? Our styles are very different so whatever they found very well might not apply to us, but...

I think that's exactly right. I've been thinking about it more and more today, and I'm starting to get that "tightness" in my belly. Eee! :)

From what I /heard/, they tried kiting the dragon without Gravity. x_x That's not a good idea, no matter how you slice it.

I now have "Everybody was Fomor fighting..." running through my head to the tune of "Kung Fu Fighting."

Dammit, Thistle. ;p

Heehee, that works well!

Gah, yeah. I like our plan: keeping it on the ground. They had said they had lots of mistmelt, wonder if they didn't have enough to keep it down or something?

Thank you for the Subligar!

No need to thank me, just model the panties for me sometime! ;)

I spoke to Lin and heard that she was the only one with mistmelts. She had 7 of them, which is no small number, but I got the impression she was using them for hate purposes, rather than as a tool to allow the melee to attack. Also, Ouryu Geotic Breath pasted Lin through her Invincible and apparently used Invincible multiple times. x_x

If you're going to kite Ouryu you really need either bind or gravity on him. But I'm not inclined to kite him at all since he has a nasty wing AoE attack in the air. Also, when he lands (without a mistmelt, supposedly) he has a touchdown AoE that hits pretty hard.

I think the only circumstances under which I'd try kiting him is if we're going for a second round after we've used up most of our mistmelts.

Ah, that makes sense. While I think we probably have more than enough mistmelts now, I think plenty more won't hurt at all. Also, we should make an order for using them, and put it into our macros.

Thistle> Using Mistmelt! Chip, you're next!

Or something like that. Gah, I need to read all the info on this again! I think they last for 30 seconds?

Even if we were a bunch of RNGs, I'd rather keep him on the ground...

For what it's worth, yeah. I'd vote for not kiting Ouryu, and instead just yanking him down and sleeping him every time he goes up, then doing high-damaging stuff to him while he's on the ground. Flying dragons eat paladins. X_X

This was one fight where I definitely felt like having done a couple dry runs would have been beneficial. I think you guys will kick its ass; you've got a much better sense of teamwork than my group does since we never meet for anything but CoP missions and have only been together since Diabolos (which I still think we won by pure luck). Plus your PLD isn't a flaming n00ber. x.x

Also: don't fight on Lightsday; sleep won't stick for crap and you want it to stick well. Earthsday would be bad for obvious reasons.

Awww, I hear nothing but good things about you as PLD!

And thanks for the advice! I hope we do well, too. *nervous* We're going in today to farm and practice stuff -- not exactly a dry run since we're not facing the dragon, but hopefully good enough!

Heehee. I'm not a *bad* PLD, but I'm so much more used to playing MNK. Every time I pull out PLD for a mission it seems I have to learn the job all over again. x.x
