The good, the bad, and the ugly (FFXI)

Or rather: The bad, the ugly, and the good. Three party invites, in that order.

#1: Partied for nearly 2 hours. Made under 2K XP... with the XP band. That means we made less than 500/hour. Took us 5+ minutes to kill things (I was able to use my 5 minute abilities more than once per fight). Basically I was the only DD. PLD, WHM, RDM, BLM, THF, me. BLM and THF were too low level and kept doing 0.

#2: While seeking parties (before this one and before #1) I was farming vines. Both times I killed one mob and got one vine before being invited. (Grrr and yay!) This time I ran from CN zone to Jeuno... only to find they had replaced me. I told them I was on foot and how far I would have to run, and I offered to outpost warp instead (much faster) but nooooo.

#3: Almost gave up seeking, but nothing was on TV. Had dinner, farmed many vines, and got another invite! (Doubling the total number of invites I've gotten since random seeking!) The XP was good... too good. I began to watch the random mage just standing by our party. The one with the same LS color as 4/6 of the other members. She was PLing us. PL, at level 68. *BOGGLE* But whatever. Made like 12K XP in 2.5 hours!

Somehow, amazingly, I'm now over halfway to 69. *boggle more* I'm going to need to get a test soon, like this week or over the weekend. (Wish there was a good/easy place to get them. I hate the idea of dragging people into that orc MC place to find one NM and hope he drops it... He's level 74-75, by the way, so at least hopefully he won't be too bad for us. But he does drop high level spells, which anyone who helps will be forced to lot on.) When we do Eco/Escort on Monday I'll need to save those scrolls to use in my Maat fight. GAH GAH GAH. I'm not ready! How can that be so soon? Gah! I'll probably fight him on Tuesday evening, assuming I get 12K more XP by then (which I should be able to).

How in the world can it be Maat-time already? Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekkkkkkk!

PL is lame. :) It boggles me how seldom you can escape it though. :) It shocks me that people do it beyond like 30 too.

That said -- I was wondering how you were going to level up mid fight with Maat! The scrolls to do the leveling are a cool idea. It will raise you to full health and mana, right? That's brilliant!

It generally just bores me. :) Half the fun and excitement is that you're taking a chance. :) PL pretty much removes the risk, and for me -- the fun. :) But yeah, it is so silly. Shocking to see it happen near 70! SHOCKING I say! Rar. :)

It is still a great idea, even if you can't claim it for your very own. That's really clever. :)

The skellies in Gustav tunnel are pretty easy to get to... Tele-Dem or outpost warp will get you close enough and it's not that complicated of a dungeon.

But how was pulling them though? If you're only killing with 3 or so other people? Do you recall if there were safe camps?
