AF Keys and such: Plotting and Planning (FFXI only)

Since we're doing CoP mission foo both weekend days, I likely won't be hitting RDM 50 this weekend as I had planned to, but I printed out all my AF and maps and all that stuff anyway.

First off: Can you open a coffer while on a different job? So if I have RDM AF started, can I open the coffers as DRK? I hope so, that'd make life easier. (Though I suppose I'd rather lose XP as RDM than DRK. Plus the whole chainspell-warp thing. But DRK would likely get less aggro. Hmmm.)

I know Ead needs MNK AF for Dani and assumedly Merlee will need RDM AF (and will Mako want SAM AF? And Beanie wants WHM AF, yes?) so maybe we can do all these together. (Or maybe Merlee and Mako will go off and do their own thing and Ead and I will do this together and/or need help, but it might be nice to do this as a group. And where does Beanie fit in?)

(EDIT: Merlee had been big on her and I doing it together, but she's done the keys with Mako aleady, so no need to fit her into key planning.)

RDM AF requires:
* Nest Chest Key (Crawler's Nest. Why oh why have we stopped getting them during Escort?)
* Eldieme Coffer Key (*groan* After DRK AF there, I vowed never to go coffer hunting there again.)
* Garlaige Coffer Key (Baishing gates. Boo.)
* Oztroja Coffer Key (Yay, Castle Oz, the only non-annoying place of the group!)

AF3 is in two places, but we can deal with those later I guess.

Since we don't use the CTY site much anymore (or at least FI people don't) I'm not exactly sure the best way to pick a day where we might get help. I'd like to get this done in the next week or two if possible. Maybe sometime next week? Hmm, I bet we won't be able to get done in one night.

I'm free just about every night (other than this coming weekend). Dynamis is... Tuesdays and Saturdays, right? Are there any statics still going on? I guess if you can/want to help, leave a comment with good days and hopefully we can get a day that works?

Maybe FI needs a LJ comm for mass-communication...

I want to say that you can only open coffers with the job you're getting the AF for, but I'm not 100% sure.

Also, I'd like to help you guys out, but I don't think a 52DRG is going to be that much of an asset. ^^; Still, if there is something I can do for you, let me know. I've got most nights available except Wednesdays (static), Thursdays (RP), and some Mondays (RP).

I'm still working on getting Dano's WAR up to a decent level so I can start leveling MNK again; as it stands, last party was so bad, I never even got a level. ._. Still stuck at 21.

Monk and RDM overlap in Garliage, and in a sense, Crawler's Nest (you just need a chest key, Dano needs a coffer key.) So for that, I'd transport Dano in that area to have her ready to get keys.

Recently I trio'd Murphy with a 75 PLD for a RDM, and said PLD later soloed the statue with us two watching. He was using the various mobs behind Gate 1 as Spirit taker fodder, it was fun as heck watching him tank 4-5 mobs + the NM XD

I'm wondering if we can do the Dani Trick with only two people or if we need three.

If it's just you and me in the party and we get a key, then you log out to log her on, will the treasure stay in the pool or drop to me (since I'm now the only choice). I think it would drop (it does that if a party member zoned).

I don't know about EN and GC and Oz and all those higher level keymobs, but you and I should be able to duo in CN for sure... so long as we can do the key juggling.

The statue wasn't in Niala's RDM AF3 video, so I keep forgetting it exists. :P

Any AF that's gotten directly from the coffer (Tights and Tabard) must be obtained directly on RDM. Chapeau, Boots, and Gloves can all be quested for on DRK as they only require an item from the coffer (in Boots' case, chest) itself.

On one hand I want to say "Drat!" but on the other (other than aggro) RDM really is better for coffer-seeking than DRK. And if I happened to die, I can make RDM XP back much much much easier than I can DRK.

I'll be on tonight (Friday) for a change... If you need any help just let me know... I'm completely open and have no plans. Well... I'd like to farm feathers and a scale for CoP 4.2, but it's not organized or anything.

As for the CtY board... I really like it and still use it some. Sylf still does all our planning for CoP missions there. I'm not sure how CtY as a whole feels about that, but it still happens...

That's a big part of it, yeah. Other than Beanie and Sylf, what active FI-only person uses it much? It doesn't feel like "our" board.

I believe if you have a full inventory -- separate all your stackable items into singles, for instance, the key won't autolot to you after the other member logs out. At least that's what happens when you're soloing with a full inventory, the drops go into the treasure pool until you clear space / time passes and they're lost. You might want to test it to make sure first though. ;)
