I've had so little sleep all week that by this point it's really affecting me. I can't concentrate on anything. Mostly I just sit and stare into space and try to make my brain get going. Work is hard, non-work is hard. Wish I could sleep. Maybe tonight.

A week or three ago I bought some pierogis. I never had them before but my family used to love them and eat them all the time, and since I really need more variety in my diet I grabbed a couple boxes of them. I tried them and hated them (boring and plain, even when I added butter to them), but I have an idea! They're filled with potato and (supposedly) cheese, but all you can really taste is the potato and dough. I'm betting that they might be good with BBQ sauce. For some reason, I'm thinking they may be very good that way. Mmmm.

The only problem is, I have no BBQ sauce in my kitchen. I haven't had any in years.

So today I shall venture into Armadillo Willy (a BBQ restaurant!) for lunch. I will shock and amaze people by ordering a bottle of sauce (I hope they still sell it by the bottle!) and a salad. Of course no one will know how silly it is for me to be going in there, but I will know. Heehee.

I'm not sure if this relates to the not-sleeping thing or not, but I've not exercised all week! Gah! I was doing so well and enjoying it, but I'm just so dead tired all the time and have no energy, I don't even want to climb on the bike, let alone stay on it and exercise. (Okay, that does sound sleep related, I guess.)

zzzzz

I personally haven't noticed this affecting me, but researchers seem to say that most people sleep better when they're exercising regularly.

So, try it out!

However, I know how you feel this week. I've been fighting the "work hard" thing all week, which has only gotten worse yesterday and today when I actually *am* sleep-depped (I was getting lots of sleep Sun-Tues nights). There's been a lot of flick-flick-flick going on.

You're exhausted. Get more sleep this weekend and you'll probably notice the difference next week. It's a vicious cycle because the less you sleep, the more tired you get, which of course makes you not want to exercise, but then not exercising makes you even more tired. I'm thinking that's at least a good part of the reason why you're feeling even more tired than usual.

And you know...I don't have any BBQ sauce either. Huh. It's just not something I use, I guess? ^^

They're good with ketchup. ^^

Have you tried warm milk before going to bed?

Hmmm, I could see ketchup working! Maybe I'll try that, too. :)

And no, I really don't drink much milk. I never have it on-hand unless I'm planning to cook something that needs it.

Yeah, hopefully I can get myself "reset" over the weekend. Hopefully next weekend will be better.

I think having BBQ sauce on hand will be handy, because I can use it on sandwiches and stuff, too. :)

Yeah, I'm not sure if that's the case for me or not, but I must exercise so we'll see!

Heh, that's just how it is, yeah.

Your problem is that they're coming from a box. Growing up Polish has one (and only one) huge benefit... POLISH FOOD. My grandmother's pierogi's will rock anyone's world... I could try to score you a batrch next time i'm visiting relatives...

But... if you must prepare box peirosies there is only one proper way... throw them in boiling water until they float then sautee peirogies and onions in enough butter to give an elephant a heart attack... yum!!!!

Thanks, but mailing them would probably be expensive and I doubt they'd make it through in great condition. :}

I think I did boil them (and then fry them in a pan to try to make them crispy on the outside, but that didn't work well). I don't like onions, but I did put butter on them after tasting them without it.

But my lunchtime mission was successful! I braved the BBQ place and got a bottle of sauce! So sometime this weekend I'm going to boil some up and try putting some sauce on them. I'll skip the frying part, since that didn't make them crispy and I'd rather not add extra butter if I don't need to.

Hopefully they'll turn out yummy!

Yup, it's blasphemy to eat pierogies without the sauteed onions!

I also like to add a load of salt and pepper on top of cooked pierogies. And while I'm not much of a fan of sour cream, a little dab of it tastes good with pierogies.

The kind I usually eat have a potato-onion filling, and they're much more flavorful than the potato-cheese filling. You said you don't like onions, but you might like some other variations.

Hmm, I don't usually like sour cream much either, but I could see it working here. Like a baked potato, sort of!

Mmm, hungry.
