Blue Mage info (FFXI)

I've spent much of the day reading various stuff about BLUs. Maybe I'm slow and missed learning this stuff myself (or missed conversations where people spoke about it and thus discovered it from each other), or maybe it's just not general knowledge.

The biggest thing is that you do not need to get XP from the mob to learn the move. The mob has to be XP get-able (as in: not cfh'ed on, not a BST pet), but you could be a level 75 BLU killing things in the newbie zone and get the move. You could also let some 75 run around and kill stuff and you could learn the move that way.

You don't have to be involved in the fight, just in the "get XP" range.

You can learn moves up to 10 levels above you. (Furthest I've experienced was 4 levels above.)

You don't have to be facing the mob, you can turn your back and let it beat on you. (On the first day people were saying you couldn't learn it this way... Bah.)

I'm really not sure how I feel about this. On one hand, it feels like cheating to zoom up to a high level BLU and then be able to go back and get your missing spells. On the other hand, doing it the way I was doing it is a bitchkitty. I suppose I could join a party and get some levels, then come back and survive better against the spell-giving mobs...

Alla has been pretty accurate with COR and BLU information, so I have faith. :D The only real controversy in information is people bitching which subjob fits, and which roles the news jobs will take in parties. XD /headache from the roundabout fighting.

Yeah, the subjobs and roles are good questions, I'm still not sure which subjob I'll use when I start partying. I like the NIN idea once you have shadows, but until then?

I found out Blue and puppet so far could be really good subjobs themselves. I tried to cast cocoon as MNK75/BLU10, and it raised my def from 270 to 410...
Also I heard puppet gets as strong as your main, a friend said his got 1600 hp and 100 str or something like that when he tried to use it as subjob. I'll test it too when i get a chance.

Gah, wow! Nice boost there.

Also I heard puppet gets as strong as your main, a friend said his got 1600 hp and 100 str or something like that when he tried to use it as subjob.
