Meh day (FFXI)

Another "casual" day... or maybe it was boring.

Besieged in the morning (because what's a day without a Besieged? 9.9 ), was actually harder than usual. 350 people for a level five was bad. Lost a lot of NPCs (including warp taru), four of five generals fell, thus we almost lost the Candysense. But in the end we won.

Then Sandy 9.1 (fight against two birds). Had only 5? (6?) people, but was easy as pie. Silly fight. Seriously. However! The cutscenes for 9.2 were amazing. I can't wait to do the fight and see the rest of the story. (Only thing is that after seeing a certain Sandy NPC in ToA mission CS, I fall down laughing at the idea of him ruling Sandy. "Oh, I need to sneak out! I'll put a rabbit in my desk chair and no one will know the difference~!". Yeah, you'll be an outstanding leader for Sandy, dude...)

Since lightning crystals are so expensive and I'm lacking them, I went out to farm. Five hours, and I got three clusters (all from one ele). How totally sucky is that? Tried a couple different zones (Q Island, Pashow, CL) but there was never thunder weather. Bah. Total waste of time.

And ended the night with another Besieged (because what's a day without a... no, wait). Had a couple hundred more people than this morning, so was lots easier.

Got 700 both this morning and night. DRK XP is just flying! I wonder if they're going to adjust Besieged reward soon. It's awfully easy XP/IS...

Try Zi'tah for lightning elementals.
There always seem to be one or two up when I pass by on my way to sky (and I'm on my way to sky a lot X_x).

After the ToAU cutscenes in question, I pictured Cydori going back to Bastok and reporting:

"Well, when he takes the throne, we're either going to have absolutely nothing to worry about from San D'Oria, or things are going to go horribly wrong. I mean, the guy makes *me* look brilliant."


Also, her reaction to one of the other ToAU NPCs appearing out of nowhere in a later scene:

"Gah, don't *do* that! I almost stabbed you! You realize I'm in a linkshell called Curse the Yagudo?"


I find it fun to make up her dialogue and reactions as I play. ^^

So true! *snerks* I can only hope the king has something up his sleeve and won't let either brother take the thrown (Rabbit Prince's brother is actually more useless than him!). At one point I thought it would be cool if the princess was tapped on the shoulder to rule, but she's become one of those weak little girl characters now, so she'd be totally wrong for the job.

The whole royal family is pretty darned useless...

Wouldn't that have been the smart thing to do? But nope! I stood around in the zone saying 'Hey, I really should have checked the weather NPC!'. Then I'd switch to the new zone, and stand around saying 'Hey, I really should have checked the weather NPC!'.

Lather, rinse, repeat. :P

In regards to the "easy EXP" of Besieged... Think of it more in terms of XP/hour, including the time you spend waiting for it to start and the number of times it happens each day. I'd wager that it's not as good as getting an EXP party and thus SE won't nerf it because it's not threatening their preferred method of people gaining EXP -- parties. Also, Besieged is a group activity unlike some quests that one was able to solo for 500-1500 EXP scroll.

Oh, totally, yes. The XP is nothing compared to what one would make in a party, but since I never party on DRK anymore it's pretty good XP.

Nah, you can "solo" it just fine, too. (Solo as not be a party member.) I do that lots, when no other LS people attend. Eh, can you call it soloing when you're one of five hundred or so people? Okay, maybe it's a group activity!
