Like a bolt out of hell... (FFXI)

Morning was spent getting BRD to 20. We... quaded? A party of four people killing worms in K Tunnel. XP per kill wasn't high (70-130-ish) but we killed darned fast so it added up well. Plus it was a LS "party"/foursome so it was fun and worked out well.

BRD's getting more interesting (lots of stuff to do, sort of like RDM). I could melee (and from what I understand, people won't expect you to stop meleeing at some point, like they do RDM?), plus sleep adds and stuff. The semi-static (four people) is going to stick together till 37, and NIN Nai is going to 75, so I'll at least take BRD to 37 and maybe all the way. To that end...



Blarg! I passed up buying it two weeks ago, because I thought 400K was too much. Last week the price was up to 600K -- even more too much! And this week 1M was below the average AH history. Grump. I almost, almost still passed it up, but I've made a couple million making bolts the last few days, so... Bah. Hopefully the price will keep on rising, so I can sell it back for a profit once I'm done.

Partially based on genomeffxi's suggestion and partially because I'd been wanting to get back to it, I went chocobo digging again. Long time readers might recall that I used to be big into digging (I'm at level... 7? out of 10?), but I got really frustrated and dropped it. Went a lot better tonight: I spent about 22K in greens and got 11 elm logs (eh, or oak? the ones you make into parchment for shihei) and 30 or so zinc (each selling for 3K) and a mess of other stuff. Lots of profit. Even having made a profit, I can easily, easily see how I got bored/frustrated with it in the past. I'm not going to get back into it big-time again, just now and then.

Other than that, I spent about 374747234701 hours making bolts. x.x Seriously, another 7 or 8 or so hours doing it. Getting very bored with it, but since now I'm totally out of wind and earth crystals I couldn't make more if I wanted to. (I'll still make them for you, Nai, just get me the crystals~. <3 )

I need to do something exciting in the game soon. Getting very, very bored with stuff.

If you're going to take brd to 37 anyways, take it to 40. Seriously, why 37? brd is not a sj. With only one song available, brd as a sj is just too gimped to consider.

Go to 40 and that Mary's Horn will pay for itself. BCNM40 Steamed Sprouts with a competent brd (become one) is lucrative.

99 is nothing. Usually I do three stacks of 99 in a sitting. :D Plus last night I had had most of the lumber already made, so it only took half the time!

The main advantage of getting a job to 37 is that you can retire it so you don't have to play it ever again =P
If you go to 40 and use it for BCNMs you'd end up having to store gear for it and even worse play it instead of your favorite job =) hehe
I did that kinda only for whm43 (for teleports) and for NIN41 (for the p.charm/utsu.ni/erase BCNM, that one is much better in reward than steaming sprout imo, p.charm is 18-20 mil on my server for whatever crazy reason).

You don't need to store -that- much gear for BCNMs...at least not compared to exping. There's no equipment swapping necessary for steamed sprouts.

The only thing you have to be careful of is getting the -right- gear. Exping gear = no go. BRD don't usually tank 7 mandies in exp parties, so exp gear is not designed for that.
