I can't complain about the weather outside (a high of 68? In mid-June? Yes, please!), but inside it's freezing! Note to the building owners: When it's below 68 outside, the AC does NOT NOT NOT need to be blasting! Brrrrrr.

I watched the latest Keep-released Bleach ep this morning. I know it's a silly thing to say about a show featuring men running around with giant swords, but: Enough with the fighting already! I'm pretty sure tons more fighting is coming in the short and long term, so... Bah. (I don't have some issue with the violence or anything like that, I just find all those sword fights rather boring.)

FFXI: Since it was a new moon after work last night, I decided I should go onto the ferry and try to break more poles. Have I mentioned before how much I hate fishing? Because I really, really do. That's going to be my last trip for pole-breaking on the ferry -- it's just not worth it! I did hit woodworking 62, so I got one "free" (almost free) level of woodworking out of this, but it took days and days, and I had to do something I strongly disliked (and gave me RL physical pain!) for hours. Not Worth It. I'd rather just farm materials or buy them.

One good thing about the fishing last night! I went as DRK/WHM instead of the usual WHM/BLM (I was tired of the fished up mobs almost killing me), and boy was that fun! I got to fight pirates twice! And I got a phantom, too! No drops from any of that, but it was the first time I've battled either of those alone, so it was great! But I also got lucky. Because the fished up mobs were no longer an issue, I was very very very sloppy about keeping sneak up. If a Horror had popped near me, I would have had a death on DRK and thus de-leveled.

But another good thing! When I got off the ferry, I got A second mannequin! Oh, the second one is so nicely cheap after the first one! (250K as opposed to 1M for the first one.) She seems so much less wooden (haha) than the Hume M model!

After fishing I did a little chocobo digging. I didn't get much, but I only made 1.5 runs (20 stacks + 10 stacks of greens, two birds) so that's not surprising.

Between the second mannequin and all this digging, I'm really going to have to sit down and make some bolts sometime soon. I've not made any in a week, just spent money, so my funds are dropping fast. Bah.

Draque, Aurian, Ead, Ceh, Beanie: We still on for 5-1 on Sunday? Aurian, what time would be a good start-time for you?

So what's the purpose of the mannequins, anyway?

They're really just toys. Usually when you store armor in your house you can't see it (it's just stored as a name on a list). The mannequin stands in your house and you can "dress" it with anything you own. So basically you can see it every time you come in.

Mine isn't currently wearing anything special, but a lot of people use them to keep their best armor on display so they can see it all the time.

I was wondering if it was something along those lines. Seeing the armor displayed, actually, would be very cool. :)

5-1?

As far as I know, we're still on. Doesn't matter what time for me, because I'm usually awake before anyone else anyway. XP

Toys, but also storage space for your armor. :) See, you have a finite amount of space to store things, and these (very expensive) toys let you store extra stuff with the added bonus of being able to view it too!

At least that's how I understand it, anyway. :)

Thistle? Thank you so much for all the logs you gave me, that saved me a bunch of gil for skill ups in Woodworking, fear my leet Woodworking 1!!! Rar.

Hmmm. I'm due to get a delivery between 11 AM (2 EST) and 1 PM. I wonder if we should wait till after that (1 PST/4 EST) or earlier and risk me needing to AFK a bit. How long should the mission take? Do you recall?

From: [identity profile] philia.livejournal.com
If you make sure you get your mission beforehand, it should take no longer than getting to Fei'Yin and defeating the boss. It's a BCNM battle, and between two monks, it isn't going to take that long at all. I think the last time I did that, it took is five minutes from entering the BCNM until done, if that. @_@

Yes, the extra storage space is nice, too! :)

And you're welcome! I'm always happy to give wood to a lovely kittygirl in need. ;)

Yep! Plus as was commented below, you do get some extra storage place as well, so it's a little functional as well!

I'm happy I have them, even if it's left me that much poorer. :)

Okay, sounds good then! Let's not wait on me then. (If nothing else, so long as the mob doesn't move I can actually walk away mid-battle. :P )

I'm narly certain I have the mission (I'm blocked on another quest because the darned NPC keeps telling me about the mission!), but I'll check again tonight. You can never be too sure! :)

Guh. I'm such an idiot. I just found out that there's an NPC in Northern Sandy that SELLS the logs for a pittance. I was buying logs to complete stacks of lumber for 500 gil each. :(

Darn it. I pissed away a couple grand. :)

Note to self: Upon getting home rig a boot to the head device for repeated use. :)

*snicker* And of course you would give wood to a kittygirl in need! It's your DRK duty to do so!

I shoulda made a more witty comment, but alas, I'm sleepy. I'll have to wait for the next 'opporknockity', as Niala says.

Ha ha ha. I'm so stupid. We're doing this on /Sunday/ and my stuff is coming on /Saturday/. But it's not my fault! Seven days are too many to keep track of!

Oh eek! Yes! Don't buy logs at the AH! *snuggles poor you* Before buying any crafting materials, hit Alla or some site like that and look them up. You might be able to get them cheaper from a vendor!

From: [identity profile] pomr.livejournal.com
Yeah. Figured that one out. :) The hard way, but lesson learned all the same. :)

The sad part is that I'm POSITIVE that D probably told me that too. Oh well. :) Hopefully some of my stuff at the AH will sell -- the sale of the stack of Silk Thread would be ideal. PlzKThnx. :)

*grins* Next time! I'm sure I'll be a stoopid hed again in the near future. Flawed as I am? It is a virtual impossibility for me NOT to. :)

No worries, we've all done the same thing. And sometimes it works in reverse! Sometimes the AH is cheaper than the guild store.

LJ cuts don't work in comments, as you seem to have found out. ;)

Don't forget that many of us can make arrowheads, boltheads, and fletchings for you. It's usually way way cheaper for one of us to make them than to buy them pre-made.

Also: all lumbers are made the same way. Log + wind. (Unless you have the lumberjack key item, then it's 3 logs + 1 wind... but you won't be able to get that for a while.)

MAPLE LUMBER: Recipe: 1x Maple Log, 1x Wind Crystal Skill Cap: 5

Make sure to check the AH on that one. I suspect maple lumber might not sell at all. What's ash lumber cap at? That will sell as fast as arrowwood lumber does.

Good luck!

Ash Lumber caps at 8.

From: [identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com
Yeah, that's what I thought. Most WWers go from arrowwood lumber to ash, because both sell so well and are not too too expensive. If/when you want ash, I can dig some up for you. (Unfortunately crystals are the expensive part of WW at your level! I almost never dig those up.)
