Tuesday = Stress Day (FFXI)
Sep. 19th, 2006 10:21 pmTuesdays are darned rough. I sneak out of work as early as possible and speed home to make it to static in time. Sit right down at the computer, maybe taking enough time to change before rushing out to our camp. Party for a few hours. We usually end at 7, at which time I still need to fit dinner in and do anything and everything else I want to do online for the day. It's very hard and very stressy. (No, I'm not asking for us to drop static on this day or start later. There are no other options if we want to static twice a week, and I think we should be doing it twice. I'm just explaining why it's rough.)
Even though the XP wasn't great (we were a little high for the area), we still all dinged and got a buffer:

Now that's how a static should be! :P (One member leveled the fight before, and one leveled the fight after. It'd be cool if we could get all five at once, but likely won't ever happen.)
Once I hit 57, I put my scorp harness on! Yay! Now I just need better looking pants... Darned Hume RSE pants have like +30 MP and +1 CHR. I'm afraid I won't be able to switch them out for a long time. :/ (The DRG in the picture is our random DD of the week, not a static member.)
After partying I ran to check my chocobo, since they turn into adults today. No raise in stats, even though I've done nothing other than work towards mental (WTF?), no abilities, no color, nothing special. Damned useless bird. The only thing I notice about him is that his feet seem really big. Head seems small, tail seems mutated, and feet look like boats. Stupid useless bird is poor in all physical and substandard in all mental. Plus I didn't even get the whistle today. Mumble.
Digging was okay. 4 gold beastcoins (yay), one adaman ore (meh, they're down to 30K and falling), and two fricking worthless black chocobo feathers (highest level thing you can find in the zone, yet crap). I really and seriously didn't want to go digging, but I need the money so I made myself go.
Goldsmithing 54 -> 55.5 tonight, before I just plain ran out of time. I can't wait to hit 60, just to be done with this crap. Plus I'm tired of bleeding money. (Hydro Claws continue to be a good skill up item, I guess. Having to do so many synths first is a pain in the ass, plus that whole "bleeding money" thing. I'm going to stick with them for at least another couple levels though, since I have stacks of the raw materials.)
So very stressed out by the game. I can't tell you how much I hate feeling like I need to quit my RL job just so that I can keep up with everyone else.
Edit: Oops, forgot. Level 3 undead Besieged tonight. I just couldn't make it, it was impossible for me to have time, but we won anyway! And fall-down amazingly, the warp taru has survived the whole week! He's usually the first NPC taken!

Date: 2006-09-20 05:33 am (UTC)Anyway, there's no static this weekend. Stop trying to do a bazillion things and just take it easy. Do something because you want to, not 'cause you feel you have to. *scritches* Keep going like this and you're gonna burn out hardcore, and before I do. ;3 I'm the one that's supposed to burn out~
Have a kneading kitten to make you smile. :3~

Date: 2006-09-20 06:56 am (UTC)You forgot to check my LJ for updates and post there o.O'
My chocobo looks like yours and I didn't get the whistle yet either, mine tires in just a couple walks, even the short ones. It looks like the same results as you but for cheaper costs, I bought all my sandoria carrots from the vendor for like 12 gil each, spoil it with ghysal greens for 62 gil, and now with the 200 gil a day from exhibition I am slowly making a profit! Although you probably made way more just by gardening when it could make you rich growing choco food alone. I bet the prices on all that stuff will go down fast, except maybe chocoelixir since it's such a pain to make.

Date: 2006-09-20 04:54 pm (UTC)'Poor' rating means you move at 50% of the speed of a rental bird, and I assume 50% of the time the ride lasts. 'Substandard' works out to 75% of the speed. Luckily speed doesn't play any part in digging -- I dig, move one step, dig, repeat. Time on the bird would be important, though.

Mostly I didn't sell my stuff early on, though I suppose I should have. (I hate taking advantage of people.) But yeah, all the prices are way way down -- people have a hard time giving most greens away now.
Especially yesterday, the chocoelixirs were still very expensive (over 100K, on my server). I almost would have bought one, for the extra chances of getting the whistle. Luckily I didn't see any in the bazaars around the stable.

Date: 2006-09-20 05:03 pm (UTC)Where's you get those percentages? Sounds like a place that could tell me lots more about chocos...

Date: 2006-09-20 05:03 pm (UTC)I must be too used to 75. 150-200 per fast kill seemed really damn good to me. X3
I know it wasn't bad, but in the past few times we've been getting ~350 (with ring, yeah) for easy kills. Compared to that, 150-200 seemed so slow.
Yeah! It's going to be nice having the weekend off, though I suppose we really should get onto finishing our AFs... My piece for Tuesaday is actually my AF3. :/ Though happily it's just as useless as the rest of my AF!

Date: 2006-09-20 05:07 pm (UTC)The percents came from a guy who got the whistle already, so he did his own personal testing.

Date: 2006-09-20 05:19 pm (UTC)What I think funny is the hard-core guys who keep trying for a blue Chocobo... according to the picture of choco types, that would be a Palfrey. Which in RL was a saddle horse, especially one for a woman to ride. It basically was a type of horse that had, for lack of a better term, a girly walk. A "smooth gait" instead of a trot. Love all those guys who want a girly bird.

One of the best parts about not playing right now is that I don't feel obligated to be on for anything. When I think about it now, it seems so alien to postpone dinner or get up at a weird time because there was something going on in game. (Though of course if I started playing again, I'm sure i'd just go right back to it, cause I'm bad like that.) I think it's just a mindset of what you prioritize. Remember you play this game for entertainment -- don't let it stress you out.
