A carefully worded happy post! (FFXI)
Nov. 6th, 2006 10:15 pmOur old CoP static is semi-restarting*, though without at least two of the old members (BLM and tank). One of the biggest issues was the lack of a tank.
If I had been able to pick any tank in the whole game, I know just who I would have picked. Problem was, he was in another CoP static.
Today, mind-bogglingly**, he became available to join a new static.
We snatched him up and will never let him go. :D
Welcome home, Des. See how well we fit together? :D (Please don't hurt me for that!)
* Yes, as I said in a post a week or so ago, I have no driving need to finish CoP. However, if my friends are doing it, I'm sure as heck going to be there to help out andeat dirt go along with them! We're going to take it slow and as non-stressy as possible.
** The carefully worded part~! Sorry this won't make sense to anyone not involved, but I don't want to spark arguments. I'll just say: I hope everyone involved is happy and that everything works out for everyone in the end.

Date: 2006-11-07 08:11 am (UTC)I'm glad you're able/willing to get back into CoP.
While the ToAU storyline is awesome [so far] and does not require many meticuliously planned battles (to the point of needing obessive compulsive micromangement - although TBH that appealed to me), nothing beats the sense of accomplishment when what's-his-face
goes down*cough* is defeated. All the pain and frustration and suicidial thoughts that built up while making up for missed CSes and lamenting the 1% losses disappear, replaced by the overwhelming joy that... it's finally over (haha I'm such a sadist). Most likely some awesome stories will come out of it too, like how I was the sole survivor with 55HP (and frosted) when my static beat Snoll Tzar...Seriously though, the important thing is to go at your own pace. Nothing ruins CoP faster than trying to push onto the next mission before everyone is ready. Good luck and have fun!

Date: 2006-11-07 06:11 pm (UTC)Can't believe I typed the wrong word on that link. >< Should have been 'fit', not 'fight'! Silly me, posting when half-asleep.
I'm glad you're able/willing to get back into CoP.
It's totally and 100% for the people involved, not for CoP. ;) But it'll be nice to get it behind us, if we do succeed at it! :D
Thanks!

Date: 2006-11-07 06:18 pm (UTC)I've gotten more info on the situation, and I agree. So yay for it working out for everyone!
I'll reiterate my usual offer of filling holes in parties / providing meds if needed.
Thanks! I think mostly we'll be poking Nif more than you though. But we're going to make him take some sort of compensation for helping us~! ;) (That's what I came back on-game for last night, I wanted to make sure he knew that.) I'm not sure how much needs a WHM healer over a SMN healer, but we totally want to cover his time/XP for anything we do need him for. Gil, services,
sex, whatever. And he'll take it, darned it! Or else! :DYellow Liquid, and I can produce CCB Polymer like no one's business (Pso'Jxa is one of my favorite farming grounds). I don't mind helping to farm quest related items like cluster cores or gold keys either.
I'm pretty sure we're all/mostly covered on the cores and keys, but I doubt any of us have even thought about the polymers yet. Hopefully we'll be able to farm those (I love both farming and Pso'Jxa!), but if not we'll ask. :)
Thanks!

Date: 2006-11-07 10:46 pm (UTC)As for Nif, haha :x Good luck. Though, he'd prolly be grateful for help on things like ProEthers, but still... Just sneak a stack of cookies in on him every once in a while and he's a happy camper.
As for SMN healer vs. WHM healer, I think there's only one fight where it's a MUST that you take a WHM IMO: CoP 6.4 the Omega/Ultima fight. Ultima spams Elegy, Slow (that's like Slow 4), and Petrify -.-a The Slow is killer though. I would get hit with on RNG and my Utsu:Ichi timer would go up to 1:30 :/ (Thankfully, otherwise, RNG doesn't give a flying cow about Haste or Slow. Neither changes range attack rates :3 ) But the fight pretty much requires the ability to spam Erase and Stona :/

Date: 2006-11-08 03:08 am (UTC)It's easy to kill the mimics with a group and if you're farming polymers your whole group should be doing it. *cracks a whip* There's the chance of keys for real chests and mappy goodness too, so there's not really an excuse not to go.
