Look! A post! Seems like more and more often I don't feel like posting. Used to be I posted every day, now only catching up on screenshots finally gets me to do it.

Also: New icon! Overdue. Nothing special, but at least I can mark BRD posts. Like this one! Going /WHM and keeping my HP in the white did not work at all. Songs took twice the time (Nearly literally! Loss of fastcast and -25% casting time!), and I felt like a crappy BRD. The mobs wouldn't get Finale (dispel) at all, or at least not until they were mostly dead anyway. Just doing the two melee songs took most of the fight. >< And way, way, way too often people (especially the melees) went with no songs at all. I just didn't have time to get everything cast. Never again.

Screenshots from the last few days, in no special order:

I made a gift for someone!

Any crafter who tries to make those for profit is (excuse my language) fucked in the head. NQs are selling for 2K. Unfortunately I was stupid/greedy; I got the HQ I needed on the first synth, then tried with the other two hides I had bought, thinking I could get a signed one for my own use and sell my old unsigned one. I should have quit while I was at 1/1 for HQing! :P Stupid me.

Killed Shadow Dragon solo for the first time. I know lots of people do that all the time, but this was my first time soloing him. Didn't help that I went into the fight in yellow HP. c.c

This is the screenshot the icon comes from.

Bastard Novv the Whitehearted claimed by gilsellers. Stupid fish. The mithra in the shot is the one who spent hours flirting with Des and I. c.c

Bright Handed Kunberry. No clue what he drops or why we were killing him, but he was there so we did.

Who said herding cats is hard? The mithra formed a line in Jeuno. Later the Tarus formed a line one step up from them, but I didn't get a shot of that.

And lastly, The most annoying random I've encountered in a long time. We need two random DDs in our static, and we had the misfortune of picking this AOL-speaking, lolSAM. (We told him off the bat not to pull the Bellbeggers (opo-opo), he decided to play a "joke".)

I was looking for a 'year ago today' shot to end the post with, but the closest thing I have is from 12/3. My first (and only) trip into Dynamis. On one hand, I really want to try it again. On the other... I can hardly be bothered to do much on-game anymore, other than Besieged and XP static. Once BRD is big enough, I guess I'll give it another try.

I remember when I first solo'd the shadow dragon. Made me feel like I'd passed a mile point.

Oh, and I'd love to have you along on a Dynamis run. Or Limbus (which I should start doing soon)

All hail Thistle, King of the Opo-Opos!

Do you still have those signed NQ mantles? Could I trade you an unsigned NQ for one? I like collecting Thistle-brand equipment. ^_~

I didn't have too much of a problem keeping songs up with WHM sub, but I think it depends on your playstyle, since you usually adjust to what subjob you're using as you level. I usually did elegy pull, requiem and threnody, two melee songs and then either pull again if the mob is dead or cast something else if it isn't. Switch melee songs with mage songs next pull and if we were chaining well enough they should be wearing at about the perfect rate where you'd only be missing a song for a few seconds if it all. Finale was only late if I was at the start of a song when it used something that needed dispel.

1/1 on mantle +1 would make most crafters cry!

Sorry for the stupid, random question. But do you use some kind of a UI mod? I really love the blue arrow, and the text is so much clearer on your screenies than my FFXI is... T_T /jealous

Once you start using it, you'll never go back!

Unless there's someone else who can dispel, I usually put Finale on a higher priority than songs, especially if it's something like Defense/Evasion up. But yeah, I know what you mean about Minstrel's and /RDM -- it's so hard to go back once you've become used to that. Plus you get Fast Cast II soon. ;)

If I had to stick with /WHM and no ring forever, I'd change my macros. Right now the two melee songs and two Ballads are in one macro, so if I started a melee song, and the mob did evasion up, it was harder to break and do the Finale in the middle.

It was cool/surprising, too: Apparently I know at what point in the 'progress bar' I can start running again. When /WHM, I kept interrupting my songs because I started running again too soon! I hadn't even known I had known that.

Yes! I looked at my screenshots from a year ago, and I can't read that default text anymore. I'm going to be so screwed when an update breaks the Windower/UI changes!

I think you're exactly right. At the very end of the party, I was kind of sort of adjusting to the longer cast times. (So yay! Maybe on Saturday when we party again it'll feel lightning fast! :D )

1/1 on mantle +1 would make most crafters cry!

Yes! Just wish I had stopped after that one... or HQed all three! :D

Bow before your king! Heehee.

Nope, sorry, I sold them. But even if I hadn't, I wouldn't trade you one (sorry). I don't want my name advertised on NQ items! :P Sorry.

If you want me to make you something else signed though, I'll be happy to!

You go with ShadowBane, right? I think their minimum is 70 for a mage job? If so, I'll be able to try in a couple weeks!

Limbus isn't possible though, no Sea access. :/

Yes. Although we've got a lot of churn right now.

Yes, 70 for almost anything, if you're activly leveling and have a sponsor. Otherwise 73-74 and you ask nicely.

As for Sea, that can be fixed.

Hmmm... you may have changed your policy, then, since I have a pair of signed NQ mining gloves that you made me a while ago. Want them back?

All my other Thistle-brand gear is HQ.

Oh! It's been so long I forgot what the level requirement was. No worries!

Yeah, we have a CoP static (5 people), but we're kind of very slow. :)

It's pretty flexible.

Gryph has been insanely lucky. She's gotten two free lots (no one was listed to lot monk gear), one on her first run.

She further lucked out in that it was the 71 piece, so she could wear it. A few days later, when she got the 72 piece, she had managed to level (barely), and so she could wear it too.

Now she has more HP than I do.

Maybe I need to get her to 75, then take her to Xarc.

link lol
