What else is happening in FFXI-land? Not much. Working on my clothcrafting glasses (will have all three pairs once I have those), so been gathering massive piles of clothing foo so I'll have what I need for future turn ins.

Other than that, nada. Doing all the Besiegeds I can catch (which is good, since they're my favorite thing on the game). Capped sword, picked up my trial weapon.

NorthernSea (my physical/racing chocobo) turned into an adult. Average str/end, going to get him to first class before retiring him. Really really really really want to stop raising chocobos, but now I need a digging/Hot&Cold one. >< Basically I need a copy of my current one, just with the Treasure Hunter story. Bred HighlandRain (current digging bird) to a blue bird today, so that egg will be the next one to raise.

I remain surprised you dislike Chocobo Hot and Cold. I don't know what it's like exactly in FFXI, but it was a mini game in FFIX and I thought it was great fun. I rarely mess with mini games, but I've played that one a ton. Then again, I also like breeding chocobos in FFVII. Different strokes and all, I suppose.

I don't dislike the game, I dislike having to raise yet another bird for it. (It takes more than a RL month of daily interaction to raise a bird.) If you didn't get some free item from the H&C game I'd never do it (it's not awful, but it's not fun either), but since you get free stuff I do it daily.

The reason I now need a new bird is that there's an ability your bird can learn that makes winning the game easier, so I really should have a bird with that ability.

And by the way, lately your posts have been making me blink. 'Huh? Did she start playing FFXI?' I'm glad your Fafnir isn't this big! (http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/images/mobs/fafnir.jpg) (He's a HNM -- one of the biggest mobs -- on our game. :) )

While I've not been playing XI, I won't deny Final Fantasy's influence on my cockatiels' names. I blatently took the names Bahamut and Wyvern for my first two from FFIV. They had the same template in the game, with Bahamut being a greyish color and Wyvern brown, which even fit with the colors of the two birds. When they had their baby, it seemed I had to follow tradition, and so I got Valefor from FFX, since it looks so dragonish there. Turns out it's actually the name of some demon, but who cares? :)

The presence of Fafnir in FFXI only makes me dorkier, I suppose. ;)

I kind of puttered out on my STR/END at day 40ish so I'm doing another for racing as well~

I was wondering if you can answer me about abilities, since you've learned bore etc; on the official website it says you can only have 2, but I've seen people say they "learned" all of them, then I also read this recently.

The wording is rough no matter how people say it, but you have the idea right. The birds can "learn" (story vanishes, energy bar refills) all the stories, but only the first two learned ones become abilities.
