thistlechaser: (Buh?)

First and becoming most important: Does anyone know how to change the font size on your computer (XP) as a whole? My font is size 6 or 7, and it's killing my eyes and giving me a headache every day. (The font everywhere: typing now, the names of files and folders, menus.) The only place I could find that affects the font size at all is bringing up the display properties and then changing the screen resolution, but the problem is that changes the graphics as well. When I increase the size of the graphics they look bad. :/

Today was the first smoothie that came out so bad that I poured it down the sink. The goal of the Great Smoothie Project is to get all the goodness of fresh fruit into me, so who knows why I bought canned fruit. (I suppose I could mix some with fresh fruit for flavor, but I'd rather just use all fresh.) Today's was peach yogurt and canned peaches. Blech. I have no idea why that tasted so bad, but it did. But since it had nothing fresh in it, I had no issues with tossing it out.

FFXI: The end of two things tonight! Probably. At least for a while.

1) Nyzul Isle. It's strange. I had so much fun with this last week, but this week it was nearly to 'hate it' level. We got no good drops (NQ crossbow and a wax sword), and I had a death and a raise 1. Totally my fault on both. I had SV up so said not to cure me because I ducked around a corner to Paeon myself, but the stupid bomb reached me there and I died. Luckily I had RR up because MP was an issue. At least we beat the stupid mob, but a death with R1 is annoying. (Once we get Nil and Des back we'll likely try this again.)

2) I think I'm done with COR. If I hadn't leveled BRD it probably wouldn't bug me so much, but I went from feeling like a BRD with one arm tied to a BRD with just a few fingers freed. One roll ("song") per minute? Not just one kind of roll, one roll total. Keeping two rolls on the melees and one on the mages when you have a minute delay between each is really really annoying.

My love of my gun aside, I don't think I'm a good match for the job anyway. Even ignoring that I hate pulling, I like being COR/WHM because I can heal and support the party a heck of a lot more. COR seems to be more of a "mostly DD, little support" but I keep trying to make it into "mostly support". Guess it doesn't help that my DDing ability is seriously sucky right now.

Guess that's fine anyway, since I really don't like XPing. :P I'm really, really, really ready to do more stuff with my time than XP every night anyway.

And speaking of which! I did a few more chocobo races tonight. They're still boring as all hell and need to be 90% shorter, but I can start one and just watch TV until it's done. I did them for as long as they paid out real gil; once they switched to chocobucks (gah, can anyone say 'chocobucks' and keep a straight face? Sounds like a fast food promotion!) I stopped.

So our NMs from the assault runs tonight: Carnero, he dropped us a wax sword. ...oh, goodie... Gyre-Carlin dropped us a crossbow. Not even a crossbow +1 like we get from normal assaults, but a NQ crossbow. *mumble*

The horror of the night was the amusingly named Gem Heister Roorooroon. Recall the Chariot LongGun or whatever it was that wiped our party last week? He was on the same level as that. Five minutes into the fight and we had hardly put a dink into his HP. Plus he kept running away! (Amusingly, he killed a whole room full of Puks with his bombs. He seemed to dislike other mobs as much as he did us.) Finally we killed him. I was the only death. He dropped nothing. ><

Tomorrow is Friday, yay! I want to do something fun on the game. I have no idea what yet, but I'm going to figure something out!

Right click, appearance tabs, theres a font size thingy. If your using firefox, go to options, Content tab, and theres a font thingy there too!

As merrkitty says, the Appearance tab has a few settings. (It's in the Display control panel, can also get there by right-clicking the empty space on the Desktop and choose "Properties")

In my Appearance tab I have it on "Windows Classic" which then gives me only one Font Size, "Normal". I changed to XP defauult theme and it has many different sizes to choose from. You can also click "Advanced" to see the font sizes for a particular thing.

I think you mentioned frozen fruits before but I'm not sure. I often keep a few frozen cherries, frozen berries, frozen mangos, in plastic bags (similar packaging to frozen veggies but they tend to be in the dessert section of the freezer.) These are mostly for throwing into ice cream at the last possible second.

I have the Theme set on XP modified. I don't know if that makes a difference on doing the Appearance settings (I right-click on Desktop and choose Properties), but I can change all the color/font stuff if I click on the Advanced button within the Appearance settings.

Firefox has a 'minimum' font setting. Very handy. I run somewhere between 1280x1024 to 1900x1200 (my video card can't handle full res on both monitors when I'm docked) I keep my minimum font set to 12 and my default size set to 15.

Do you have an LCD monitor? They're really set on their native screen resolution. Changing it to something smaller would make it look blurry. Might be worth it if it's giving you headaches, though. XP has the option iniadelphinae mentioned, to set font size, but it doesn't increase all text.

Woo, thanks! I'll try that tonight!

I had no idea! Thanks!

Ah ha! When I first got the new computer I picked Windows Classic (I was trying to get rid of the XP-style start button/task bar). That was the wrong place for the change I wanted, but I never reset it. I'll try changing it when I get home tonight!

I think you mentioned frozen fruits before but I'm not sure.

Yeah, frozen fruits I don't mind as much (especially if it's fresh stuff I froze myself), but the canned stuff is pretty much a waste. The peaches I used had a tiny bit of C and even less A in it. Not worth it at all!

Apparently it does! I never knew. See the comment above for more details. (Mine was set to Windows Classic, which gives you no options for size at all.)

Yes. The wasy html is *supposed* to work is that it specifies *what* something is. Like a heading, or emphasized, or bigger/smaller than normal, and your browser decides how (if at all) to display that on your system. Makes the source and the display totaly disjoint.

What actualy happens is the people use html to specifiy exact font sizes, placements, pixel widths and so on. Blame management who wanted pages to look exactly the same everywhere, when the point was that they didn't have to.

I know FFXI is just a game, but aww, I feel sort of sorry for Carnero. He's kind of cute in a big, shaggy, 'I'ma eat yer face off!' way. Sort of a cross between a Musk Ox and a bull.

Yeah. :) And out in the wild he's just a wee little sheep and wouldn't stand a chance in heck of surviving against 4 level 75 characters. :P

You can also keep a smaller resolution but increase it's DPI in advanced Settings.
