Woke up at 3:30 for no reason, so checked /bmap. Trolls were at level 5. Bah. Set alarm for an hour later, but couldn't get back to sleep. Got up at 4, it's now 5:30 and they're at /200/ and only just started to advance. So this should actually be a level 10, even though it's a level 8. c.c

Was intending to go back to bed after the attack (I was expecting it to be done by now!), but Mamool are now at level 3. By the time the Trolls move their butts and attack, the Mamool will be too close to go back to bed.

Bah. Stupid beastmen, can't you attack at reasonable times? zzzzzz

Edit: Guess maybe it was worth it. 1900 XP from Trolls alone, and look who finally decided to show his face faces! Oddly, he was a total pushover. Seemed weaker than even the normal troll mobs.

Edit, 2: Oh well, lost the second attack. To be totally honest, I'm not too upset about it. I needed a break. Hydra showed up though! Yay!

First a few more shots of the doggy. Cool pose and some fire move. He died fast and easy.

Hydra (or I-whatever) was a totally different mob. People never got him below 97%. He'd lose a head and the grow it back, once he lost two heads, but both grew back. The "blood" was well done! Looked like a cloud of it misting up. The coolest part about Hydra though was just how damned big he is. I felt like I was in a Japanese monster movie! :D

Yeah, they actually noted that in the update notes (http://www.playonline.com/pcd/update/ff11us/20070606TsVPr1/detail.html), under the "Battle Related" section, writing, "Level 8 Besieged has been released. Accordingly, the maximum value for enemy forces has increased to 200."

I have no idea what that really means (as in, what 180 vs 190 vs 200 means in terms of the number of mobs or level or what). But yeah. hehe

Why is it called "Gere?" is it supposed to be different than Cerberus?

Okay, that full-body picture of Hydra made me say 'holy crap' out loud... XD That thing is HUGE. Unfortunate we lost, but oh well. :3 It's nice that SE kept up with the mythology of the hydra with the regenerating heads thing, though! Darn church making me miss all the cool things. ;3

And the funny thing is, the picture doesn't even do him justice!

I wonder if the besieged NMs are the same size as the regular ones out field o.O; For some reason that full-body Hydra looks much bigger in town than out in the woods, maybe it's because of all the buildings and stuff around it that give my eyes a better view of its scale... you can't really compare Hydra to -anything- out in the field <_<

Is Cerberus not all that big? He was less than a quarter of the size of Hydra; he was tall, but not long at all. I'd suspect they would be the real size though, I think...

If CTY hadn't gone kaput I could link you some pictures of the regular Cerberus to compare. I don't think it's a small mob, but it's not a huge one either. I'd say it's Kirin sized, but that doesn't mean much to you ^^: If you ever have the chance, though, I do recommend going to see it out in the field. Every once in a while (if it's not being pestered at the time by adventurers) it'll put all three heads up and howl at the moon, it's really cool :D

Yeah, that's roughly how big he was in Besieged. Not /giant/ but not tiny. Bigger than a PC but not OH MY GOD! He's going to flatten the city with a stomp! big.

Illuyankas is apparently the name of a dragon in Hittite mythology.

Gere, also Geri, is the name of a wolf accompanying Odin in Norse mythology.

I have too much time on my hands.

Mostly unrelated, the Candysense has been recovered as of midnight tonight.

We're working on it. At least the hardware failure gave me the impetus to get up to a newer version of software. That version is up, and all, but doesn't have the latest data. If we get the latest data back, we'll be back to normal. Otherwise, we can just deal with old data and a year of lost journaling.

That'd be sad.
