Stupid brain, stupid me (RL, FFXI, whine!)

I need a new brain. I've been having nightmares every night for two or three weeks now. I already don't sleep well, but now I don't want to sleep. Mumble. Enough! Just stop it!

Probably related to that, I made a really bad mistake on-game this morning. I finally had two ori ingots, but I didn't want to synth them into a ring last night because it was new moon. So this morning, 6 AM, after an hour or two of nightmare-filled so-called sleep, I synthed them. Into a orichalcum chain. Wrong damned crystal used = a 400K worthless item. (They're used in one single item and never sell at the AH -- whole history has 6 listings, half from 2006, last one from June, one listed now.)

I suppose I'll try desynthing the chain, if they can be (I strongly doubt it).

In somewhat better news, there's a new version of windower out. It comes with auto-sort for your inventory! How cool is that? Also, those distance and recast plugins are included, which is really cool. This is how I play COR: Arrive at camp, hit ctrl-j to open the abilities menu, close it when we finish XPing for the night. I'm so sick of having that menu up all the time, but fricking rolling timing is so damned... well, whatever. Not going to rant (more) at 8 AM.

Why don't you use macros for rolls? o.O

I don't really play anymore, but that auto-sort function is pretty awesome. I accidentally threw away my Jupiter's Staff while meriting once, instead of a stack of wind crystals. Too bad it wasn't around then!

I do use macros. Once I see that Phantom Roll has cooled, I hit one.

The 60 second timer on songs rolls is such a challenge. If you're delayed on melee songs because the puller ran off, your whole cycle gets messed up. Delayed by the people who need refresh being slow to get together? Same thing. I don't blame either group -- pullers pull fast and I don't expect MP people to be able to read my mind!, but you need to know exactly when Roll cools so you can time your re-rolling best.

It's funny how much people compare it to BRD when it's a horse of such a different color.

I wish for better range WSs on COR, and I wish for a better recast system, but they're not real wishes -- the job is a mismash of RNG and BRD, so you can't have the perfect/best from either of them.

The WS range is just how it is :/ COR isn't getting a shorter (har har) end of that stick unless you're comparing it to Archery WS, which does have a longer range. But since many RNG are marksman RNG too.. blech :/

Unfortunately, when I do miss an evoker's roll, it's because it's been overridden by another one. ^^; So it's hard to keep a timer on it, when it's gone. That's why I've always moved toward Des after a battle, so I can keep it.

I tried to word that as carefully as I could. I always laugh when doing rolls, knowing that people can't read my mind and know exactly where I want people and when. I blame no one but myself when the wrong people get the wrong rolls! :)

Right now, things are a little more complex with the Des-only roll. I'm not sure if he's going to want to keep it or if we'll switch back to Healer's roll once Aven joins us.

I've thought about trying to get placements better so I can hit the melees and not you, but that would depend strongly on mobs and camp -- can we have the mob facing the mages? And can we spread out enough so I can get far enough away without aggroing stuff? It might be worth it to try it while we're in QSC, because there's no cone stuff and we can spread out?

And as a sad side note, now that I have that distance plugin thing (as of this morning's new Windower version! Woo!), this might be a little easier.

*rereads a few times, then laughs* Oh, I wasn't clear! I didn't mean range distance-wise, I meant we just need better WSs! We're missing anything good pre-Slug Shot. ...but oh, that's funny. I just checked the Wiki so I could list which WSs RNGs get but CORs don't. There really isn't anything between Sniper Shot and Slug Shot? Ugh. My regular shots do the same as Sniper or Split Shot. :/ Wow, I really thought the lack of WSs was a COR-only thing.

On the DD end of the job, that was my one and only complaint: No good WSs! I guess it's no longer a complaint! :P

No worries, just explaining why I miss it. :3 As long as a mob doesn't have a nasty cone spray AoE (crawlers are the really /big/ offenders in this), I could easily turn mobs toward where the healers are. It'll probably be easier with the new plugin, though. :3

Yeah. Based on what I heard, at 300% it's better than a 300% slug shot. But, like all the other quested WSs, when (in XPing) would you ever hold your TP until 300%? :P

But still, I want it! A quest named 'Shoot First, Ask Questions Later'! How totally cool is that?

Nyiri told me she found a posting where the damage of Detonator was nerfed downwards (so it's not more than Slug Shot) o.O; The SAM WSs had their modifier amounts adjusted upwards. She hasn't found a posting that details how the H2H WSes were changed. Meh, you'll prolly stick with Slug Shot anyways. As you said, who holds TP to 300%? Slug Shot is best with 150% TP minimum, btw. I'd advise against using it at 100% TP unless you like frustration D:

(Reposting cause I messed up with the copy/pasting earlier) I'm no COR myself, but it seems like macroing Phantom Roll itself with a /recast worked in would make your life a lot easier. I guess the Recast plugin makes that a bit moot now, but mashing a Phantom Roll macro seems marginally preferable to having the JA menu open all the time, personally!

Also, the Windower Recast plugin has been out for a while, completely separate from FF Assist. It just hasn't been packaged with Windower before. I'm guessing you don't know about the Windower forums or you would've seen it earlier -- www.windower.net (http://www.windower.net). You should definitely check them out, don't deny yourself future awesome plugins any longer than you have to! :D

Recast is a windower plugin. its been out for at least 6 months (that was when i discovered it) if not at least a year. I didn't bother with FFassist because I didn't trust using any more 3rd pt apps. When I found Recast, it was much better. Its been around for awhile judging by the history of updates.

I'm the opposite, I hate mashing macros. Even on my ranged attacks I type "/ra " once at the beginning of the party, then space, up arrow, enter over and over.
