My "new" computer (six or so months old now?) still isn't fully set up. One thing I didn't have working was the ability to download photos from my camera. I didn't have the right cable I needed, spent hours on the phone trying to buy a new one (apparently the camera I have needs a special one), then finally dug my box of assorted computer crap out of my closet and hunted through it. Success! The cable I needed!
Hooked up the camera to the computer... nothing. Needed a driver. Went to the website, downloaded, installed. Dire Windows warning "strongly suggesting" for me not to continue, the "windows logo" wasn't authorized or some crap like that, warned if I installed it that my system could become unstable. Ignored it (which will likely come back to bite me in the ass later). Still didn't work. Checked the website again. The camera needs special software, too. c.c
Searched around for anywhere to download it from, nothing. ~.~ Finally checked my removable harddrive (which still contains the backup from the old machine) and found the software there! Yay! (Irony of this is that tonight I'm intending to backup the new computer onto that same harddrive. Goodbye all old stuff! I hope there's nothing else I ever need!)
Connected up the camera... and it worked! Woo! So what pictures had I taken that were so important to download? Why, photos of my cat, of course! :P
My mother bought me a giant stuffed dog (seriously, it's almost as big as I am!), my cat decided it's a good place to sleep. The fur is really long (like an inch and a half) but not very soft, so I'm not sure why she likes it. Maybe it's warm?
My kitty loves clean laundry, so you can't leave it around on the floor otherwise this will happen. Leave even the smallest opening and she'll worm her way in.
So yay! Photos! Maybe I'll take more soon or do one of those 'tell me what to take a picture of' type memes.

Date: 2007-10-26 01:06 pm (UTC)Looking at these pictures, I realize that the basic truths about dogs and cats are thus:
Dogs: if you leave it lying around, they will chew on it.
Cats: if you leave it lying around, they will sleep on it.
What IS it about clean laundry? Is it the Downy Freshness? The warmth? Just the fact that it's clean, and thus needs to be covered in hair? I see cats do this all the time and I'm mystified as to the attraction, especially when there are other soft surfaces available.

Date: 2007-10-26 02:52 pm (UTC)My roommate's dog will sleep on my clothes. ONLY my clothes. My roommate and I do laundry together, same soap, often the loads are mixed between hers and mine. Offered a pile of clean clothes, one from each person, the dog naps on mine every time.
Offered 2 piles of dirty clothes without any access to clean, the dog prefers to sleep on my dirty clothes rather than her own rather comfortable bed (deprived access to all my clothing, she'll sleep on her bed rather than my roommate's clothing).
My roommate and I have similar taste in our casual clothing (our respective idea of "professional" differs rather wildly...namely my casual doubles as work clothing. Hurray for cyberpunk!). No different materials or textures. The only thing we can think of is that maybe I smell different (being a guy), and the (female) dog has a thing for guys?

Date: 2007-10-26 03:17 pm (UTC)My sisters cat also seems to like sleeping on cloths. The only problem with her is that she is a walking puke machine and will up chuck on anything she happens to be around if it comes to that time. Thankfully she is scared of me and thus doesn't often venture into my room.
