Grrr. It's so hard to start RPing on a new place! "But what if I suck!" "But what if I pose something stupid because I'm new and know nothing!" "What if a call comes in and I have to pause the scene for a long time and the other person gets annoyed?" I'm a stupid chicken-face! A nice guy and I flirted joked around on the public channel, then he asked on the RP channel if anyone wanted to play. I wanted to say yes! But what if I sucked? What if I did something stupid? He asked two different times and both times I made excuses in my head. Bah! Our characters would have been amusing together, too. :/

Tomorrow! Hopefully tomorrow I'll RP! I was logged on most of the day today -- I'm having a hard time keeping myself off the game even when I don't have time to play! I want to play. :/

(I do this on all new games, it's not just this one.)

Bah.

---

FFXI: Meh. I've been working on Fishingbot's subcrafts, so his woodworking is still just 75. Alchemy is up to 50-something, bonecraft hit 38 tonight, smithing is in the teens, and some other subcraft is barely started. Gold and cloth are untouched, and both need to go to 60. (Alchemy and bone both need to go into the mid-50s.)

"Unfortunately" most of bonecraft skilling is on arrowheads, so I'm going to have another three-day period of doing nothing but making arrows ahead of me. :/ It's good money, but so very boring.

And can someone answer me this? I hate XPing, especially in random parties, but for some reason I'm getting a strong itching to level BLU in the normal way (not Campaign, I want to actually play the job). How can I both hate XPing and apparently want to XP? My brain makes no sense.

So very bored in FFXI. Surprisingly and amazingly I'm actually looking forward to the next ToAU mission on Sunday (the one with three rooms/phases, second to last fight). Usually I hate missions, but in this case I'm happy to be making progress. Our odd party setup will continue (WHM, WHM, RDM, COR, MNK, THF) so who knows how we'll do, but at least it's something to do (and no XP lost!).

Would you believe the idea of trying Dynamis again keeps poking at me? Seems really silly, since I want no AF2 and so would just lose XP for "nothing" (clearing the zones is something, but I mean nothing I want or need). The first and only time I went was December of 2005 (so long ago!). I got a clear on Sandy then.

Ramble, ramble.

I can give you several reasons (completely unbiased, I assure you) to consider Dynamis:

1) It's a change of pace. And you really, Really, REALLY sound like you could use one.
2) The Dynamis shell most of us are in (Howitzer) has no attendance requirement. You can come when you feel like it and not be guilted if you don't. You won't have as many points for lotting if you miss, but since AF2 isn't your priority...
3) You have a lot of friends in Howitzer already. It's very much a social activity since everyone there is friends.
4) Of the, oh, 3? different Dynamis shells I've been in, Howitzer is by far the least deathly and most skilled of them. I'm a tank and it's not uncommon for me to go through an entire run without dying. And that's keeping in mind that if Northy dies I'm usually next in line for main tanking...
5) Howitzer is in open recruitment right now! Though we just finished doing a round of cities and won't be back to them for... I think it's 2 weeks? Maybe 3... So you have some time to think on it and get psyched up :3!

I have that same problem. I know I'm not a horrible writer and that there's really no reason to be shy on the internet, but that stuff eats at me anyway. I have to keep reminding myself 'RP is fun! Happy-fun-time games! Nobody cares but you!'

If you'd like, assuming I'm not in the middle of finishing up a scene that began last night, I could pop your RP cherry for you. It'll be fun. We can both be ridiculously terrified together!

Sorry I wasn't on last night! I took some Sinus and Allergy medication that was SUPPOSED to be non-drowsy and... yeah, got drowsy.

Today is mostly going to be spent moving stuff to the new house, but I may still be on a bit in the evening.

Don't worry about messing up! If you're brand new I'm sure they'll understand! It's like a chilly pool, you've just got to jump in and it'll be fine!

Howitzer doesn't have an attendance requirement and they're open right now? Dammit, Beanie, I didn't need to know these things. ;p (To whom do I make inquiries?)

Yeah, I get impulses to do things like level lower jobs and such that get squashed by my list of "if you have free time, you 'should' be working on this" things. (And I do actually keep lists. The fact that I'm this organized about a recreational activity is kinda scary. ;p)

But variety is good, and I always worry when you get into crafting binges that you're just going to get completely sick of FFXI and quit cold turkey, never to return. Which is completely your right to do if you wanted, and I'd still be able to talk to you here, but I'd miss you in-game.

Also, I hear BLU can be soloed rather nicely. Or duoed, and I've been having a bizarre desire to play it lately, too. What level is yours?

I have one of those dry-wipe boards. On it I have charted my "daily work" and "weekly work" with little magnets that I can slide over when the task is done. I don't even do that for my paying job!

Yeah, I did that once... or at least tried to. Started giving my stuff away, then just said to hell with it and logged off before finishing. A couple days later I was back. :P I don't know what it will take to make me finally quit for good...

That's true, that's an idea! And I'm 38 now.

Ack, hope you're feeling better!

And yeah, I finally jumped in! RPing now! :D I just hope a work call doesn't come in, that'd be annoying. :/

Thanks! But I finally jumped in myself. :D I told myself I'd accept the first request on +rp, no matter what, but then the first request came from someone who couldn't type so I skipped. I accepted the next one though and I'm RPing right now! Yay!

So far, so good! Heehee.

Drop a /tell to Draxyle, Northstar, or Neresh and they'll hook you up. But as I mentioned, just finished a city run, so might be a little bit before we're back in those zones. You can also post your app/interest on http://howitzer.gryzdezignz.com/

Oh, shoot, my BLU is 10. :/ I didn't realize you'd worked on yours that much. I have nothing in that level range to offer you, sadly.

I guess maybe I'm more organized about my hobbies than my job because I'm more interested in them. ;p I keep lists for books/manga/games/movies, too.

Thanks! Signed up to get an account on the boards, though if one of them is online tonight, I'll check in there, too.

Yeah, that's what I figured, too. One I care about, the other I'm forced to do.

And no worries! I'll figure out BLU stuff one way or the other.

Yeah, all those are good weekends. When you guys do the starter cities on a Saturday, I'll probably poke my head in. :)

[adds the 'weekend' gaff as reason #6 of why you need a change of pace] :D
