From today's update, the ToAU AF2s are going to come from Dynamis. Bah bah bah bah. Mumble.

Not only that, Corsair's is ugly as hell. :/ I can only hope that the screenshots don't do it justice. (Remember how COR AF1 screenshots made it look amazingly awful?)

I really, really don't want to do Dynamis. :( God.

Doing something I hate for horribly ugly armor. That's so wrong. (Welcome to FFXI!)

So now the question is: Do I start doing Dynamis now so I can work on points and be more likely to be permitted to lot when the time comes, or do I put it off?

Or I could just ignore COR AF2 and go about my game-life doing other things. c.c

And if I do go, who do I go with?

Too many questions for a Monday morning. :/

Stupid Dynamis. :/

Wait and see what the stats are, because if it turns out to not be all that impressive, you can likely skip it altogether and then you won't have wasted your time doing something you hate for something you don't really want.

That's sort of what I was thinking. I feel like I should get it, but really, what do I do on-game that armor is important for? ToAU 44 is the only big thing, and I'm DRK for that. I probably shouldn't burn myself out further for something I don't 100% need.

If only Dynamis wasn't so darned long! I get bored in the first 15 minutes, and it goes on for hours and hours and hours. :/

*laughs* Yes... Female characters get so screwed (pardon the pun) by all FFXI armor. The vast majority of pants for females leaves their inner thighs bare. Most "pants" are booty shorts.

I'm so so so happy to play a male character. My pants are pants!

I don't get it.. they're putting ToAU AF2 in areas which have nothing at all to do with that expansion, unless they're going to do Dyna Al Zahbi or something, which I highly doubt. I seem to recall hearing they had no further plans to develope Dyna, which makes this even more of a surprise. I'm sure they could have thought of something better but rushed and tossed it out there in a fit of finality because they were tired of hearing people complain about NOT having it yet.

I kinda like how it looks. Could stand to be a little darker blue though.

From: [identity profile] iniadelphinae.livejournal.com
I think the relic looks pretty much the same as COR AF, only blue. And it's a pretty blue to me. Maybe darker, but it's not bad IMO.

However, the whole set fails. WHERE'S THE EYEPATCH?!

No mumbling at me about things like depth perception. You could have a pinhole in there so it would look like an eyepatch but still let you hit the broadside of a Galka barn.

*laughs* An eyepatch would rock!

And no matter if the blue is a pretty shade or not, the Immorals, Blue Mages, dressed in blue, are mortal enemies of the Corsairs. Where's the logic in wearing blue? :P

Date: 2008-08-04 05:35 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com
I don't like it being blue at all. Remember the whole 'Corsairs and Immortals are deadly enemies' thing? And that Immortals, Blue Mages, wear blue? If I were ICly designing Corsair armor, blue would be the last color I'd use...

Yeah, it's going into the plain old Dyna zones. The update explains it all... sort of.

Blue mage / Corsair / Puppetmaster Artifacts and Relics

The wait is finally over!
At long last, the highly anticipated relic gear sets of the blue mage, corsair, and puppetmaster jobs are here! Rounding out the standard 5-piece sets, the more recently added back and waist items will also be added to September's version update. Players with these jobs can now look forward to obtaining the ingredient items required to temper their artifact and relic gear with even greater enhancements!
When considering how to best introduce this equipment, the development team weighed many options, including the possibility of entirely original methods. In the end, however, the decision was made that such means would be largely unfair by rendering only players with these jobs capable of accessing new game content. Therefore, all of the above items will be procured in the same way as their predecessors, namely via exploits in the Dynamis and Limbus areas.

Drop Rates

Great care has been put into assuring that current drop rates will see no negative impact from the introduction of the new blue mage, corsair, and puppetmaster gear sets. Players can rest easy knowing that any and all necessary adjustments to the drop rate ratios have been considered and implemented to maintain a fair and balanced game experience.
Furthermore, the overall drop rates of select Dynamis areas, covering the relic gear of all jobs old and new, are set to be raised as well.

Entry Fees

In light of the additions and adjustments detailed above, the entry fees for both Dynamis and Limbus were also brought under careful reconsideration.
Thanks in part to the ground being made by the Special Task Force in combating RMT-related activities, and subsequent normalization of the game economy, the following reduction in price to entry items will be implemented in the upcoming September version update.

Yes. If they were like 2 hours, I could make time. But 4 hours? If it starts at 7-8, it's not done 'til midnight and I can't do anything else in the meantime T_T

From: [identity profile] veloxe.livejournal.com
Start saving points now! There is a good possibility that at least one piece will be good and then you can grab that and just run. Get ahead of any competition before they get ahead of you!

Date: 2008-08-04 06:46 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com
I guess longer = more drops, but still... four hours of something dead-boring is a bit too much for me.

I don't want to go just long enough to get one item and then flee though, that doesn't seem fair. :/ (I guess if you earned the points it is, but it still seems a little rude.)

I've left so many dyna shells it's not even funny. I think the longest I ever stuck around with one was 2 months. I don't have any drops from dyna though because it's more like something I would get into if I needed to waste an entire night lol

Immorals, lol

Well, Dynamis is pretty much The Dark Side of the Force, so COR in blue relic kind of makes sense, though now I wonder what BLU relic is going to look like (can't check at work, stupid company filters).

From: [identity profile] iniadelphinae.livejournal.com
This is why I had to stop doing Dynamis.

What really blows is that far too much of that time (at least in the groups I've run with) is spent hanging around outside the trail markings or hieroglyphics, waiting for the endless stream of stragglers.

Gather time at 7, lucky to enter by 8, not done til around midnight, and my alarm goes off at 5:15 AM. That just doesn't work for this kitty.

Also, your icon is absolutely mesmerizing.

Maybe they're wearing blue to mock the Immortals.

I'd think more of a navy blue shade would be appropriate. I mean, it's called navy blue for a reason. (Although the BLU relic is rather navy. The CORs and the BLUs are mocking each other's color choices! ;p)

Date: 2008-08-04 07:58 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com
Yeah, the mocking idea did cross my mind. But still, I would have rather red (perhaps a deep, dark red) or black or grey...

One of the two LSs I'm considering gives you more points if you arrive on time. Three ways to get points, if I recall correctly: Be there on time, be there in the middle, be there at the end. Since I'm alway, always, always on time to things, that'd rock for me -- extra points!

But even if that encourages people to be on time, you'd still have to deal with other LSs wanting the same area and such. :/

I keep wavering back and forth. If I could do boring chocobo racing for 12 hours straight, I should be able to put up with this for 4 hours, right?

The BLU is really nice. It's basically like a shadow version of the AF -- there's still blue in it, but it's a nice, darker, richer color. It's easily the best of the bunch.

how is it ugly as hell?

Because different people have different opinions on things?

Date: 2008-08-04 11:26 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] sethimothy.livejournal.com
Incorrect answer.

The correct answer is "Because I do not watch Fox News enough to have the correct opinion on things." As your opinions differ from mine, and your opinions are wrong, I must believe that liberal bias has altered your line of thinking. ^_~

The more I look at it, the more it seems like the bastardization of an Imperial Captain coat, which... doesn't make sense for a Corsair per se, but certainly fits the mood of seafaring. Someday I'll understand the obsession of females in this game having armor that does not protect their thighs. Even on this set. >.>

Yeah, the shell I go with (when I can) usually has that hour wait at the markings, then get like every single time extension there is and omgsolong @_@ And I go as BLU, so it's not like I'm doing anything special. lolDD ftw. >_>/

Yeah, but you can DO other things while you chocorace. You can't when you do Dynamis. You're maybe paying attention for 1 of those 12 hours. :P
