At the G20 conference, notice how none of the other leaders want to shake Bush's hand. I could almost feel bad for him, if he hadn't brought this onto himself.

he didn't exactly reach for or look for any hands himself

As an unpopular outgoing president, it's not too surprising that Bush was shunned. There is nothing to be gained by being cozy with him, because he's not going to the president for much longer anyway. And Bush is just so unpopular...well, everywhere.

I don't feel bad for him, though. Not one bit. The vast majority of Americans wanted to see Bush succeed after 9/11, no matter the political affiliation. Removing Saddam from power is not without its merits. We are talking about a lot of political capital here. Yet Bush wasted them all. Honestly, he deserved to be shunned.

Agreed, but I still can't help feeling bad for him as a person. It's sort of the same thing as me thinking the world would be a much better place without him, but if he died I'd still feel bad (someone has to love him and would miss him...).

I really wish he had just stayed on a ranch riding horses, shooting deer, and drinking beer with his friends. I bet he would have been happier and there would be so many fewer reasons to hate him.

Why anyone, him included, thought a stupid person should be president is beyond me.

PS: Eeee Obama! Smart president, yay!
