I'm not sure if I'll have time for a real post tonight, but here's a link in case I don't. First spotted in [livejournal.com profile] pomr's LJ:

Probably the most well-done WoW video ever made. You all know I'm not a big fan of WoW's style, and its animation is even worse, but this was really, really worth watching. The music was great, the storyline was amazingly fun, and the animation was really good. (I'd say the animation was fall-down amazing, but they're still working with the WoW models/style, so...)

It always amazes me that something like that could be player-made. I have tons of stuff to do tonight, but I'm going to watch it again before I go back to FFXI-work. :D

Edit: I have to say, for a WoW character, that black haired Hume is pretty hot. :D The main character-ish one, with the pony tail.

Not only is it awesome but it is also 100% accurate! Rogues just can't get the job done *shakes head disapprovingly*

You know you're a FFXI addict when you call humans Humes outside of FFXI.

PS: Horde > Alliance

Orcs may be uglier than a pit bull's rectum, but humans keep slaves.

Ha ha ha and here un-WoW-educated me thought Rogues were the most uber job in the game~ ;) :D

What job is the black haired human? Can you tell?

Heh! I'm so bad about the hume/human thing. I call any human in any video game a Hume. :P

PS: Horde > Alliance
For sure! Mooo!

but humans keep slaves

They do? Blech!

Oh! And is the human-woman a HNM/NM or something? Her wings were cool! And her casting poses, too.

The human woman is a dragon. The dragons hide among most of the races in one way or another. :)

I think the human male was another rogue. The mask and the two weapons.. but that's just me guessing.

No really, they are just the most freaking annoying job in the game pretty much. Mainly because most of them are spineless cowards though.

Oh, heh! That's cool.

And makes sense! Thanks. :)

Yeah, I've heard that about them. With their invisible-then-sneak attacking (or whatever it is in WoW terms). *pats lots*

Thrall was originally a slave of one of the now-dead human overlords. So yeah, Thrall is actually the most enlightened leader in the game.

Shocking the number of horde only players here.

The male human is Matthias Shaw, leader of the SI:7 - the MI:6 of Stormwind. The not so secret secret agents. The woman that the assassin is trying to kill is none other than Katrana Prestor, a.k.a. Onyxia the brood mother of the black dragon flight -- in human guise.

Unfortunately, you won't be able to find her in Stormwind these days, the alliance kind of figured it out after the 5 millionth Onyxia revealing.

I'm not sure if it is. Long long ago, a WoW player and I had a conversation about the type of person who generally played horde vs the type who played alliance. We agreed that (in general) people who wanted to play horde were older -- young kids (boys) generally want to be the 'good guys', the heroes, while more mature people were looking for a more 'complex' character, like a so-called bad guy. (As far as I can tell with my very limited WoW knowledge, horde people aren't really bad guys? They're just trying to live their life same as the good guys? To the alliance they'd appear the bad guys, but to the horde the alliance seem the bad guys.)

Of course there are exceptions to this; smart, mature, complex character-liking people could be on the other side as well.

That's one of the elements I miss on FFXI -- I'd love to see how the playerbase would split if we could pick being a 'human' race vs a beastman race.

The male human is Matthias Shaw,

Heh! Even his name is cool. :D How much did the video change how he looks? I recall being really, really turned off by humans in WoW. They didn't look right and their animations were horrible (I think they didn't move their arms when they ran or something like that?). In the video he seemed more reasonably-human shaped as well.

Note I said "horde only". You can play both sides ... unless you're prejudiced. ;)

Also, a sampling of horde and alliance revealed that horde is, statistically speaking, younger on average than alliance players, although only by about a year. Twenty-six versus twenty seven or thereabouts. Check out the daedalus project (http://www.nickyee.com/daedalus) for other fun mmo stats!

Also, the Forsaken's royal apothecary society are unapologetically very, very evil. Buy the expansion!

I will say that as far as Matthias Shaw's looks go, it's pretty much the same (minus scar) in game but the models were refined by the video's creator.

... I see what you did there.

Oh god, most people are already ready and willing to rip each others faces off just for existing, waring factions in FFXI? That would so cause chaos. Plus then people would bitch that they want world PvP instead of just things like Ballista and such and then next thing you know it's even more impossible to level because a 75 dick head is camping every leveling spot in the zone waiting for your PT to arrive... ; ;

Oooh true, I forgot you could play both sides!

Heh! I'd buy undead things being evil, I suppose that's expected. :P
