I'm only 52 XP into level 67, but I capped blue magic, YAY!

I buckled down and did some crafting on Damask today. Cloth 82 -> 85! Yay!

CoP static beat airship. Yay. Fight was as easy as last time, beat with 10 minutes to spare. It sure had been built up into something much harder than it really was... ToAU 44 was lightyears harder than it.

Missing RP very much. Was tempted to log onto the MUX before CoP static, but then I couldn't get into anything anyway. Getting majorly, majorly burnt out on FFXI. I can always tell when that's happening -- whenever I get the urge to leave FFXI for WoW I know burn out is upon me. Nice WoW, no responsibilities, nothing I HAVE to do, and a nice ghost kittypet to kill things for me. I miss the pretty rain, too. And fishing. And such bright and simple graphics.

God, I'm talking myself into taking a break. Ha.

Then you probably should take a break. I know I get a bit stressed out from raiding in WoW. lokyst and I specifically limit ourselves to no more than than 3 nights of commitments a week and "goof off" on the other nights, whether that be watching TV or leveling alts.

For a real change of pace, you should try playing a completely different class in WoW. Maybe even different faction.

Yeah! I want to try an undead rogue when I come back. I know it's odd, but for some reason undead have been looking cute to me lately, and that video made me love rogues (even though I know nothing about them, ha ha).

Unfortunately I can't really take a break. Not only is there the CoP static, which is talking about an extra night during the week... (That's why I'm especially grumpy now, that eats into my few "goof off" nights... and eats into it with CoP, which I hate.)

Oh well, I'll figure something out! :}

Congrats on finishing 6-4. CoP got a whole lot less stressful for me once that was finished, so I hope that's also the case for you. I didn't have your burning hatred of it, though, so YMMV. ^_~

And yeah, I've been feeling a little burnt out lately too. Having activities 3-4 nights a week will do that (particularly when that's almost all the time I get in-game), and mine don't look to let up any time soon. I'm still enjoying Dynamis, though, and I've been having fun levelling with CTY folks. I'm a bit stressed about restarting ToAU because I'm not past the worst of it and I've got 35 to redo, but I really want to get the story finished.

Just tell them no. No is hard, but sometimes you just need to draw the line. I really like [livejournal.com profile] doxxxicle's rule of limiting commitments to 3 nights a week. That makes a lot of sense, because as soon as your week gets too full of recurring commitments the game (whichever game you're talking about) starts edging from 'fun' to 'work.'

They should have just used Banefire and erased it from the history of mankind entirely. Then we'd all be happier adventurers.

Yeah... I can't say I'm sorry it's easier, it's annoying enough that it exists at all. I just wish they had nerfed all the running around, too. All the post-Airship running is taking more time than the battle itself did.

I'm still enjoying Dynamis

I think that's one of the issues. I don't enjoy Dynamis at all. It's amazingly boring, I haven't gotten anything I need in many many runs, and I just keep losing more and more XP (I can't recall the last time I've gotten an R3...). But I have to keep going if I ever want my storage space.

Congrats on finishing 6-4. CoP got a whole lot less stressful for me once that was finished

Thanks and I hope it does! I'm dreading that 'climb the hume tower' thing and a couple other steps, but at least each step we do is one more closer to being done?

I didn't have your burning hatred of it, though, so YMMV. ^_~

That's a big part of it too. I hate CoP. I hate every moment I have to do something with it. I hate that it exists. I just want it over and done and behind me.

Blarg.

Ya the running was probably the most annoying part. I wouldn't have minded if they teleported me around more for it. But overall I liked it when it was harder! Stuff is too easy now adays. That's why I like ToAU 44 so much because it can actually be a challenge. Hope we get at least 1 tough mission in WotG.

I bet the last Wings battle will be tough. That seems to be the way they're setting up mission lines now. :)

(My original attempt to post this seems to have failed; apologies if it did work and you're getting this twice.)

I only do Dynamis once per week, so that probably helps in my case. I'm fine with R1/R2, but then again I only have one job at 75 so it's pretty easy for me to refill the buffer with a few Campaign battles.

Are you really sure it's worth it for you to keep going? To me it sounds like stopping would relieve a *lot* of your stress. I doubt there'd be any hard feelings if you told the LS, "Look, I'm sorry, but my schedule's changed and I need more time to do other things in and out of game. I can't really do this any more." It's only if you immediately turned around and joined another Dynamis shell that there'd be a problem, and I don't see you doing that any time soon. ^_~

How bad is your storage problem? Is it something that shuffling things around between mules/getting more storage space would help?

Date: 2009-02-03 08:40 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com
Nope, only seeing it once! :)

Unfortunately the issue is caused by all the partial sets of AF2s. I have:

DRK: 5/5 (Done! Stored!)
COR: 5/5 (Done! Stored!)
RDM: 4/5
BRD: 2/5
WHM: 2/5
BST: 4/5
MNK: 2/5
BLU: 1/5

So that's 15 slots taken up by that stuff that I can't mule off. But if I get the rest of the pieces of them, then I can store them all away. Some of those might never happen (RDM...), but something like BST? WHM? Even BLU? It's a reasonable goal.

You should try playing a druid. They're very versatile and fun to play. :)

Date: 2009-02-03 09:38 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kamalloy.livejournal.com
Yeah, but is it really worth making yourself stressed for an indeterminate amount of time for those 15 slots? Particularly if every Dynamis where you don't get something (and that's more often than not) makes you dislike it even more? Plus there's the fact that we tend to do stretches of Northlands, and you're probably missing a fair amount of city pieces.

I can understand hating to leave things incomplete. But every time you post about Dynamis you seem to be increasingly stressed about it. Stopping would free up two of your currently occupied days. I don't think there's anything wrong with saying that over time, you've come to realize that you just can't keep up this kind of schedule. It's not like you hate the people or are planning on splitting for another group.

CoP, as much as you hate it, at least has a finite amount of sessions left if you decided to stick with it. But Dynamis, particularly with the number of sets you're currently collecting, could take a good long while. And I'm not telling you this because I secretly hate you and don't want to see you in Dynamis anymore. ^_~

Aww. /comfort

Hopefully your dentist visit will go well.

I'm trying not to be overly nosy or preachy here. I'd like to see you not stress yourself out so much if you can help it. Having been in a situation where I stayed in a group way longer than I should have (an RP group) but was hesitant to leave because I'd devoted so much time to it, I can empathize.

Yes. All druids can shift into bear, cat, cheetah and sea-lion forms. Cheetah and sea-lion are land and sea travel forms, bear is the tanking form and cat is the physical damage dealing form.

The Restoration talent tree gives Tree of Life form, the healing form, and the Balance tree gives Moonkin form, the magical damage dealing form, both at 41 points into the respective tree.

You learn bear and cat form fairly early, somewhere in the teens, I think.

Right, but.... If you're a member of a static group, the other people in it should also be respectful of your time, just like you're concerned with keeping current with your cutscenes, bringing appropriate meds & food to the BCNM fights and all that.

I wouldn't be very happy with a static group if they just decided to continue on ahead when I couldn't make an appointment, for whatever reason.

...Banefire?

What if X is less than 5? And what if CoP has a toughness of 5 or higher?

Congrats on completing the airship battle!

For what it's worth, I think there are good points with any and all of the expansions, CoP included. The stories are definitely better in the newer expansions, but back in the day even the Zilart storyline was pretty cool. And if CoP didn't exist, something like ToAU 44 wouldn't, either. That 45-minute battle concept has to start somewhere...

LMAO!! That just made my day! *glee*

However, it also shows me....I used the wrong term. Bah! I actually meant Balefire (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balefire). I want something that will not only destroy CoP in its entirety, but will utterly remove it from the history of mankind.

Thanks! And I guess there could be. Problem is, I dislike and/or hate every single CoP storyline character (other than Wolfgang, but he's just a tiny little one), so I couldn't care less about the storyline. Wanting to know more about the story has always been my driving force to compete missions... :/

So you want something that will remove CoP from the game, as opposed to sending it to the graveyard? That's probably wise. There are a lot of reanimating tricks out there...

Sorry, being a magic geek. >.O

Funny you mentioned Wolfgang. That scene between Wolfgang and Monberaux is one of my favorites.

I think the CoP storyline, for all its faults (I especially dislike the two Louverances plot twist—that was so unnecessary and it never really went anywhere), is still a major improvement over the Zilart one. And of course the ToAU one is a major improvement over CoP. So at least the game is moving in the right direction in that department.

Hehe, the MtG references are great! /geeks out/

And yes, I don't want no truck with any of that "search your library, graveyard, and cards you own for target CoP and put it directly into play."

Yeah, agreed.

And yep, yay for improving storyline! The Wings one is really good, too. (I wouldn't say better than ToAU, but nothing will ever beat ToAU in my mind.)
