Back in the first season, I loved every single character. Major or minor, there wasn't a single one I disliked. Now, in the fourth season, I dislike almost all of them.

Starbuck: Insane. Annoying. And to quote [livejournal.com profile] veloxe: Slut. I dislike her more and more every time I see her.

Anders: As plain as white bread... except when he's annoying. Starbuck walks all over him, fools around on him, talks crap about their marriage, but the moment she says "frack me" he's on top of her and ready to go. Have some pride, man. God.

Lee: What's plainer than white bread? It's Lee! The political plots are the worst, and they seem to be all that Lee's about now (having left the military for a political job and all...).

The threesome between those three is boring and annoying. Everytime two of the kiss and/or make out, I end up rolling my eyes and pausing the ep to do something else for a while. Ironically, even Anders/Lee would do nothing for me. The two of them are just so damned plain, boring, and goody-goody.

I just finished the ep where Cally got killed. I used to love her character more than anything, but she became so amazingly annoying and boring. (Sensing a theme here?) You'd think I'd have felt bad when what's her name tossed her out an airlock, but I just grumped 'Good' in my head. (Really, were we supposed to feel bad?)

I had a much much bigger reaction to the cylons wanting to lobotomize the raiders. Ever since that ep about Scar, I've wanted to know more about them -- how they're trained, what they're like, everything. Lobotomizing them seemed incredibly cruel.

Adama and Roslin are the only two left who I have positive feelings for (though the cylon that Dean Stockwell plays amuses me endlessly). It's really hard to like a series when you dislike all the characters. I'm really disappointed in this change. (Though at least the series isn't eating my brain anymore?)

It is a shame.

Still, they'll have to try really hard to make you dislike Gaeta. Right? Right?

*stifled laughter*

Okay, good point. I still like Gaeta, though we've seen next to nothing of him in the eps so far, which I hope isn't why. I think he's gotten about 30 seconds of airtime in the three season 4 eps I've seen so far.

I saw a spoiler that something bad happens to him (I don't know what, don't want to know), so I'm a little worried about that. :/

Watching you catch up on the series is like re-reading a story the second time, when you catch all the foreshadowing and all the bitter dramatic irony. In other words, it's like watching a trainwreck in the making, and being powerless to turn away from the inexorable march of disaster. :)

inexorable march of disaster

That doesn't make me feel very optimistic for the rest of the series! Not that I couldn't have guessed it...

I did have a little giggle when the Chief listed all of Cally's bad traits in the bar after she died. Poor guy, he really had loved Boomer.

Hey, you were the one who said they liked dark in their shows. BSG delivers. ^_~

And Anders is the worst Cylon ever, though he is at least useful in the latest episode. Useful in an ironic sort of way, but useful. ;p

Yeah, I do like dark, but this... I wouldn't call it dark. I think "sucky" fits better. :P I've gone from "Eek! Not much left to watch!" to "...gah, how much more of this do I have to get through?"

Oh! Oh! Oh! I hope they had a shortage of people to toss out the airlock, so he'd come in very handy!

The Demetrius plotline and Starbuck's insanity got dragged out way too long, yeah. The second half of season 4 is much tighter so far.

I am tempted to tell you what happens to Anders; it's a spoiler, but it's a spoiler about a character you don't really like, so. ;p

There's definitely a different emotional investment from someone who's been waiting many years to find out what's going on (probably most people) to someone who marathoned the first three seasons but still had to wait on the fourth (me) to someone who's marathoning the entire series (you). And I spread out the first three seasons since I was watching it with someone, so that changes things a bit, too.

Agreed. Shorter would be more okay. Not great, but not as bad.

*laughs* Thanks! I'm tempted, but I'll wait. :D

And on the last paragraph: Yeah. I really wish I had gotten in on it sooner. I think spending years with the series would be way more enjoyable. If nothing else, week by week you could talk about each ep in depth. There are whole LJ comms dedicated to the breakdown of each ep. I would have liked to experience that. :/

Same thing with me watching Avatar: Last Airbender all at once. It was nice to not have to wait, but I sure did miss out of a lot of fan-ish stuff.

I saw "Lee" and was like, "...What?! ...Oh."

Just thought I'd mention. I miss my Lee.

Ha! :D Your Lee was much, much cooler. :D

I miss all the Rockets. Those sure were good times...

They really, really were. I've never managed to find anything as good since.

Same. I'd kill for an active MU* with great RPers... I'm on a MUX now, but it's got a very low player population and all of them have multiple characters there and elsewhere, so mostly everyone just idles together. :/

I sure do miss RPing. I keep thinking I should try it out on a LJ comm (since those seem to have replaced MU*s), but I keep putting it off.
