I should make a glowy kitty icon!

I'm really, really impressed with my pet (or had incorrect expectations of WoW). I had thought that as I got higher level, I'd stop being able to handle mobs above me in level? (In FFXI, at low levels you can solo mobs equal to or stronger than you. That very quickly ends and you can only solo things much lower level than you.) I had to go to a slightly too high level zone to drop some quest items off (Winterspring, what a pretty place!) and I got jumped by four mobs at once. I was 54. One was 53, one was 55, two were 56. I was able to get all the hate pretty quickly moved onto my kitty, and he tanked them (and did most of the killing on them). I used mend pet once total. Yeah, 56 was just two levels higher, but with that many mobs I would have thought it'd be more of a problem. (The other night we killed something four levels higher, but that was a single mob.)

I can't wait to go back to Winterspring. Such a pretty zone and I love whatever the squat waddling whatever-they-are beastmen there (Furbolg?). They remind me of the cute owl-person things in some forest zone I XPed in.

No FFXI plans on Thursday or Friday, so I'll get some uninterrupted playtime. I'll probably hit 55 tomorrow, but I have no idea how I'm going to handle more than one character. I know that's common for WoW, but in FFXI you generally have just one...

I can pretty consistently solo mobs 3-4 levels over my level, and have been able to from a very low level--however, this is very class dependent. I'm a prot pally, so I have high survivability. Hunters and 'locks are good at that too, since they can have their pet or voidwalker tank.

WoW never gets solo-unfriendly like FFXI. By the same token, WoW's not as sociability-friendly, since you have to do all of your exping alone.

I miss meeting new people all the time. Hell, I miss FFXI altogether. I just...have too much WoW stuff to do to get back into FFXI right now :(

You don't have to do your leveling alone. I leveled up nearly all my characters by playing with my wife. Lots of people level up almost entirely from doing instances in parties. It all depends on your preferred play style.

In my brief stints in WoW, I did both. Played a priest and spent most of my time in instances & PvP, and spent time playing a Hunter and soloing.

I think I would've enjoyed WoW more had I known more people, but the only people I knew in the game when I decided to start back up (after having a beta Warlock) was 1 acquaintance and a friend stationed in Japan.

I've been getting a bit of the itch to try other MMOs again, and seeing the lack out there might restart my WoW account. If only I can find people I already know playing...Given I'm a gamer, friends with gamers, and WoW has 12 million subscribers, you'd think that wouldn't be the challenge that it is.

Heh, that's what generally keeps me on FFXI: Too much to do, so I can't go play WoW! I sure do wish I had something to do on FFXI now... *so bored*

since you have to do all of your exping alone.

I kind of like that. In all my time playing WoW, I've interacted with other people a grand total of three times. Two were random conversations when someone just started talking to me, and once was asking for that port to Shatt.

I enjoy how quiet it is. Even when I'm XPing, I don't generally run into other people.

Have you seen some of the play styles that people do? I've read about people who leveled up using quests that didn't involve killing living creatures, another person leveling without talents, and prolly a few others.

I do most of my leveling on all classes solo. I tend to leech off of instances though, let my high level friends run me through. =p

Wow, now that'd be a challenge!

another person leveling without talents

I think I'm doing something like that, though not on purpose. Tonight I saw a Hunter with a sword, which boggled me. I thought we could only use one-hand axes and guns? I bet there's a weapon trainer who would let me learn to use other things! And don't ask about me not learning how to use dual-wield until 45-ish. For some reason, I could never get a second axe to go into my other hand!

I like to interact with others, it's why I play MMOs.

I find myself having conversations with NPCs in WoW.

Captured NPC: Is there no hero to save me?
Me: Nope.
