Last night I had a dream that the Lich King, Tirion Fordring, and I shared an apartment. Surprisingly, we three got along, other than the Lich King being moody/emo a lot. Also, I had a star pony and was teaching others to ride by leading them along on it. Star ponies eat only Oreo cookies, but luckily NPCs gave cookies away, so I could get buckets full of them to feed it.

WoW in RL? Not so good. I can't log in. I click the icon, nothing happens. I got an error while getting yesterday's patch, but paid it no attention. Shut the game down last night, now I'm dead in the water. Repair says I need to reinstall. I very much do not want to do that.

Edit: Woo, fixed it. No idea how. Ran repair a bunch of times, deleted my cache file, then rebooted and it worked.

I woke up in the worst mood ever. I want to bite the head off of anything that moves. There's really no reason for it. I did have an odd dream (I went to the Grand Canyon, but the edges weren't marked at all, so I almost drove straight into it... and when I got out of my car there was a roadkill? rabid? opossum twitching and I was worried it'd bite me). There was a HORRIBLE TERRIBLE UGH UGH UGH millipede in my doorway when I left the house this morning. HORRIBLE THING. I had no idea what it was. It curled into a ball when I tried to brush the UGH HORRIBLE AWFUL thing out of the doorway with a stick, so I stepped back inside and googled to find out what this HORRIBLE HORRIBLE UGH UGH UGH thing might be. A millipede! UGH! Learning they like damp places and eat dead plants, I used the stick to roll the UGH DIE DIE DIE NASTY THING over to my plant pots. Let the HORRIBLE GROSS UGH thing live there.

I'm such a wuss. I never kill bugs, I just move them or (if they're in my apartment) put them outside. Only exception to this is "unreasonable" bugs, like ants (they won't stop with just one or two, if you don't get rid of them then every damned ant in the world will move into your place).

I started my morning with reading our server's IC version of LiveJournal (IC character blogs). Every post pissed me off more than the last. On the first page alone there were two pregnant people and two "I killed a man" posts. No idea why the pregnant ones pissed me off so much, but the "I killed a man" ones... DUDES, we live in a world where we're endlessly killing "men". Human-like things, "humans" (human mobs), and all the people on the opposite faction. Sorry, but for most folks killing a man really shouldn't be that big of a deal. HAVE YOU NEVER DONE A QUEST WHERE YOU HAD TO GO KILL PIRATES OR SOME CRAP?

Stupid Grand Canyon, why wouldn't you have at least a guard rail or something?

Blah. Grumpy, grumpy, grumpy.

Too much PvPing on WoW. Non-players: PvP = player vs player, as opposed to player vs "environment" (computer-run monsters). Last night I had a dream I was PvPing RL. It was an all new battleground (made just for RL PvPing!). 15 people on a side. My whole team was made up of "geeks" -- no one wanted to actually play the BG, they just stood around typing on their Blackberries and phones and stuff. Eventually I got tired of doing nothing so tried playing on my own. (Don't know what the other team was doing all this time, they were just standing around too.) Eventually they noticed I was trying to win, so one of the people came after me. A large, angry man intending to hurt me. Meep! I yelled and screamed all of my best BG-insults at my team ("idiot" being the worst of them, ha ha) and eventually got them to hold the guy down (14 of them to hold the one man!). But one by one they got bored and went back to texting, so eventually the guy got free and came after me again. Then I woke up! I will never, ever PvP RL, ha ha!

Cooking! I've had a success and a semi-success in the last week.

The success was the AMAZINGLY yummy Korean BBQ I did. The reason it worked so well perhaps was that I didn't really have to do much of anything. Bought the special cut of meat, stuck it in a ziploc bag with the bottled sauce 24 hours ahead, broiled the next day. OH MY GOD, so amazingly yummy! Even better than the few times I've gone to Korean BBQ places! I'm intending to go to the store tomorrow so I can make it again this weekend. MMMM. (Hopefully they'll have the special cut again, I don't think just any thin cut will work.)

The semi-success was making garlic knots last night. Chances are, you have no idea what a garlic knot is. They seem to not exist outside of New York. (I've been in California for ten years now, but there's so much NY food I still miss.) I saw a recipe online, so I figured I'd try it. Not about to make dough myself, I bought some fresh pizza dough and used that.

The recipe itself was a bit lacking (you know it is when non-cooking me thinks so!). Basically it was just: Melt butter. Mince garlic. Put garlic in butter. Put mix on dough. Bake. That didn't give it enough garlic flavor, I'd probably cook the garlic in the butter (or maybe use olive oil?) for a while next time. Also, I think garlic knots have salt on top, though the recipe didn't mention it.

I'm going to try to make the knots again next time, though not too soon. Dinner last night was most of a pizza's worth of crust baked in melted butter... not very healthy! But semi-yummy, mmm.

I love Google so much! For so many reasons! Today's is:

Current events in their logo! And it's eeee fossil/evolution news, too! If I had unlimited time and money, I'd go back to college and get all sorts of scientific degrees -- not for the degrees themselves, but so I could learn all sorts of interesting stuff. Evolution's spiffy!

...And that little burst of excitement burnt off my whole day's worth of energy. zzz *headdesk*

Can someone explain how I can not sleep and have nightmares, both in the same night? Even though yay RP started last night and I was willing to stay up late to play, I felt like crap and was exhausted, so I logged out. Went to bed, started (continued to!) cough. Coughed until about 4 AM when I finally fell asleep (and had nightmares!). Woke back up at 5, throat burning, still coughing. Was cold so stayed in bed another hour before getting up. Blah.

Stupid silly nightmares. Why do I keep having MMO nightmares? It doesn't even make sense! Last night it was me as my WoW hunter (with my RL cat as my pet... and a stuffed animal from childhood as my second pet...). I found a "NM" (FFXI term, and FFXI-style mob) and killed it -- it was a tiny little level 10 mob, I killed it with one punch. Unfortunately it was a spawn for a much larger mob (and since I was new to WoW I hadn't known it -- any experienced player would have known to leave the little one alone). So this big snail/scorpion thing spawned and I couldn't lose aggro. I ran all through my childhood house trying to lose it, but it could get through doors. WoW Hunter style I let my pet die ( D: D: D: My poor cat! ) so I could try to live, but even that didn't work. (And seriously, how sad is it that I couldn't outrun and lose aggro from a half-snail mob?)

The night before I had a nightmare that I was on a WoW quest. I had to throw a giant party for a relative (cousin?) of the Lich King. He really really hated my efforts. Hated the food I picked, the musicians I hired, the guests I invited. And then, hey, monsters attacked the party and he hated that, too! (Okay, maybe that part was reasonable...)

I need sleep, brain! Not nightmares! zzzz

PS: Lungs, please remain in my chest. The outside world isn't all that great. Stop trying to be coughed up.

Lots of dreams last night. One was about being able to use my WoW flying mount to get to FFXI's sky (so handy!), and another was that my WoW guild asked me to go on some raid with them (even though I'm 10 levels below everyone...) and it involved fishing (maybe that's why?) but I couldn't deal with handling fish guts, so we failed. :P

I've been resisting posting negative stuff about FFXI even though it's sometimes very hard, but I ran into a post on [livejournal.com profile] ffxiljcommunity that just boggles me. They changed Beastmaster so that your pet can no longer fight while you do anything else. (So if you send your pet to fight and try to harvest, open a chest, whatever, the pet now stops fighting and walks back to you.) It just boggles me, outright boggles me, how anti-player FFXI is. (And what boggles me even more is there was a time I used to think that was a good thing, I defended it.) I tried to imagine how my Hunter would change if that pet-behavior was put into place on WoW -- it'd cripple me. How often I've used my kitty to distract/hold/whatever monsters so I could do something else!

I feel sort of like I finally got out of an abusive relationship and only now am I seeing the situation through clearer eyes. I don't understand the point of so much of what SE does. The BST change, ACP's losing your (damned annoying to get) key item if you lose the (very hard) BC... Why does FFXI fight against the players?

It always annoyed the hell out of me when other people said this, but: WoW is fun. Easier? Sure, but know what? That's not necessarily a bad thing. It'd nice to play a game that likes me, instead of one who, the moment it sees I'm succeeding, changes things to make it harder for me. (See also: All the farming nerfs, the fishing change, all the endless supposed anti-gilseller crap that hurts the players but doesn't stop the gilsellers...)

I used to wonder when my love of FFXI would return, but now I'm starting to wonder if it will... (To be fair, the fact that I'm RPing on WoW gives the game an amazing boost. It's like two games in one (MMO and MU*) instead of just one.)

*rereads post* I wonder if I'll delete this an hour from now. :P I tend to do that with my more negative posts.

Yay, static beat the last CoP fight last night. My feelings didn't suddenly change upon the win. I said "Ugh, thank god" out loud and that was about the end of it. CoP, the single most annoying thing in all of FFXI, is finally behind me.

Sort of.

I'm begrudging having to run around and get the 84731710 CSs in 10,000 different places (though I decided I'll do it over my lunch breaks -- I didn't really want to dig/H&C anyway). I had scheduled time to do it last night, so I was extra annoyed at finding there was a Japanese midnight wait before you could do them.

Would someone please explain that to me? You've done all the CoP crap to that point. Capped fights, dungeon crawls, traveling across the world for a CS which consists only of "what are you doing here? Go back to where the last CS was!", and then you win the final battle. Why in the world would they put a JP midnight wait after that? Is there any point, any logic, other than "let's waste the players' time"?

Damned CoP.

Anyway! Last night I had a couple dreams, one was about FFXI. LS people were doing a ZNM fight on the top of a wicker tower that was hundreds of stories high. The thing was swaying, the winds were high... and did I mention I have a slight issue with heights? Somehow, in the middle of trying not to die RL while doing this ZNM, I said over /p that I was able to see what a mob would drop before the mob was killed (I had some special plug-in for that). Totally against the ToS and I was saying it on game! Ack! So I was clinging to the tower to try not to die, just waiting for SE to ban me. (Which is ironic, since right now is the least I've ever been worried about being banned on FFXI...)

WoW! Eeeee RP! Good RP! And eee Northrend! Other than Storm Giants (who should all be forced to go do CoP and stay out of my hair), I love the place. All my open quests are level 71/orange though, and I'm still 68, so I hope they'll go well. (I got a half-level of XP in the two hours before CoP last night, so hopefully I won't be 68 for long!)

The second dream I had was about RPing (eee!). Long-gone Caboose was RPing WoW-style (sort of) with some woman. They were speaking their poses instead of typing them, but WoW-ly they were moving their characters around on the screen as they did.

PS: Boose was a rocking RPer, plus he brought a ton of yummy grapes for me to eat as I watched them! :P

Gods above, I hate April Fool's Day. It's only 8:45 AM and I've already run into three "jokes" by major websites.

Newsflash: It's not funny.

(Or perhaps I'm just a stick in the mud.)

Edit: *DIES* Okay world, prove me wrong within a minute of me posting this. From the makers of Bacon Salt and Bacon Mayo, it's Bacon Lube! "It's not for sale yet, but we're looking for early product testers to put our "Everything should taste like bacon" tagline to the test." *rolls and dies* Now that is funny! :D

--

My brain gets a cookie this morning. Usually I get annoying stress dreams or nightmares, or dreams that just make no sense at all (why the heck did I dream about RL Yosari two nights ago? We don't talk/interact at all...). However, last night I had the bestest dream ever! It was the perfect fantasy (of an *cough* adult nature -- trying to keep work safe!). I couldn't have thought up a hotter situation if I had tried. :D *pats brain* Very good, keep it up!
