First off: Help me, friendslist WoW people! D: I installed an addon (Carbonite) to check it out, and disliked it so I uninstalled it. Vengeful thing that it is, it ruined my GUI and I can't fix it. (Though, on the plus side, it only took me less than 24 hours to get my minimap back!) See in this old screenshot how the quest status is on the right hand side? Just the name and #/# on your killing progress? That's gone now. Does Carbonite actually uninstall addons? I've checked the description of every one I currently have installed and nothing matches that text, so I can only assume that somehow it deleted it. Anyone know what plugin gives you text like that? Maybe I have to re-download it...

One of the many, many reasons I didn't like it was what it did to my RP alt. While this is amusingly IC, it's also some kind of a bug... That floated over Mr. Grumpybutt's head the whole time he was logged on...

This screenshot is so old that I'll be unhelpful in my asking of help. Anyone know what these odd fish things are? It's somewhere in Northrend, I think Grizzly Hills but maybe not. They looked like a school of fish, just without the circle around them. The little screenshot at the top shows a normal school vs the odd circle-less one... I tried fishing in them, but got nothing different.

This was amusing timing. We were doing some instance somewhere, and one of the bosses would grab a person and 'eat' them in the middle of the fight. He took me 3/3 times! By the third time...

I finally hit 76! One more level to go. *pantpantpant* I had been XPing in Zul'Drak, which I didn't like at all, until... I found a giant cat god! Ha ha, so cool. Also I finally found the source of those white-spotted black cats. Too bad they lose their glowing red eyes once they're tamed, otherwise I'd switch out my ghostkitty for one.

I think I'm a level early, but I'm going to go XPing in Sholazar Basin next. I love what little I've seen of the zone, and it's full of beasts! The skinner in me hated Zul'Drak -- try as I might, I couldn't skin a troll.

Can't help you there, I can't stand to be without Carbonite. Maybe try downloading QuestHelper and make sure it's enabled in that Add-Ons section at the bottom left of your character selection screen?

Yeah, lots of people like Carbonite, it just wasn't right for me. :)

The best thing you can do is to delete your WTF folder. Addons go in Interface, but the details/setups for them are in WTF. So if you are having trouble, it means there's stuff still in that folder.

Be warned! Deleting the folder will mean you must redo your UI from scratch. It will not hurt your game in any other way however. :)

Shut down, remove Carbonite from Interface/addons and delete WTF. Do not delete Interface. Start game, put everything back.

For this reason I always keep a copy of WTF somewhere safe.

Oh, and those pools are for a quest. You use a net to catch things in them.

Ah, good to know! People who commented after you knew how to get the text back, so I won't need to delete WTF (what a name for a folder!), but this is good to know anyway so I can make a backup now. :D

I love Carbonite, if only for its world map. Though loved it for its tracker too back when I was leveling up.

The tracker from your old screenshot is WoW's default quest tracker. The tracker only shows on newly acquired quests. So if you log out and log back in, the tracker won't show up for quests already on your quest log until you do something to trigger the quest (ie. kill mobs). You can also force the tracker to show quests by opening your quest log and shift+clicking the quest you want it to track.

Yeah, I did like what I saw of the map, though it stopped working pretty quickly after I installed it.

And ah ha! I hadn't know about the shift+clicking on quests trick. Thanks!

That quest text doesn't exactly look like QuestHelper but you might want to try QuestHelper anyway. I love it, it not only simplifies the quest display, it also puts stuff right on the map and mini-map telling me exactly where to get things. It's a bit spoiler-y if you care about such things, but I personally love knowing exactly what to slay to get the drop, who to talk to, etc.

It looks like you have fubar and bartender, or something similar... I recently discovered those two and haven't got them 100% how I like them but they are still better than what I had before.

When I was googling Carbonite before installing it, I saw a lot of comparisons to QuestHelper. I don't care about spoilers at all (90% of the time I don't even read the quest text other than skimming to find out what to do), so it sounds like it'd be handy! I'll check it out tonight, thanks!

Yeah, Bartender is what I use. I tried a lot of bar addons before finding that one. It's really handy, easy to use, and can organize your bars any way you want.

That quest status thing is from the stock Blizzard UI. Go into your Interface options, Objectives section and turn on Advanced Objectives Tracking (if it's not already on) and then turn it off again. It should warn you about losing settings, that's okay.

I think that should reset it. Try opening up your Quest Log and shift-clicking a quest to track in the quest status area.

Ah thank you! That did it, yay!

It's almost surprising how much harder things are to do without a simple display like that. I kept having to open my quest log to see how many more of X I needed to kill, if there were other mobs involved, etc.

Oh and you should be fine in Sholazar Basic at 76. In fact, if you hit 77 while you're in there, there's actually a breadcrumb quest that takes you to the person who will train you for flying in Northrend.

WoW agrees with you! :D I was heading to fly out of Dal to do my fishing daily when I spotted a new ! NPC. He was willing to fly me to Sholazar for free! Little did he know I already have a FP there~! :P But yay saving money on a flight!

The "BLAH" thing is some kind of interaction between Carbonite and Cartographer. Forgot what you can do to fix it, but eh.

As for quest log, go to your Interface options, and you should find one somewhere in there called "Objective Tracking." Turn that on.

Ah, thanks! That worked, yay!

And ha ha ha, BLAH is a great way to display that a bug/conflict is happening. :D

The fish pool is for the quest with the walrus people I believe. You catch the fish with a net given to you and then feed it to a male sea lion to get him to go over to the females and for them to fall in love. Its a daily.
You should do that quest line for rep. That group has some pretty nice gear you can get from them, along with a penguin as a pet and a really nice epic fishing pole. Also the dailies with them are pretty easy.

Oh god, that's too cute. That'll be second only to the new quest I did last night: Sexing the animals of Northrend! Seriously! :P Knock them out, lift their tails, and check if they're female or not. I almost fell out of my chair. :D

:o Pet AND a fishing pole? As soon as I hit 77 (so I can flyyyyyyyyy) I'll check it out!

There's a friend of mine playing WoW, and I've always loved her art style. I thought you might enjoy seeing what she's created: WoW Gallery.
