Since I hate questing and like PvP, I decided to look up where and how to PvP at low level (18, in my case). Warsong Gulch looked to be the only option, but handy as heck, you could enter it from anywhere in the world.

The first battle I hadn't checked my XP going in. (I had expected an XP text line at the end.) We won, but I had no idea how much it awarded.

Second one, lost. Got 970 XP though.

Third one, won. 1,733 XP (woot!).

At most, the battles take 20 minutes. If one side gets three flags first, then it ends. So, depending on win/lose status and color of the quest you do, this isn't horrible XP. Tonight I did two yellow quests that took me an hour to finish and got 2K reward from the quest and a good deal more for killing the mobs. Three WGs tonight and I got almost 5K (assuming I got full reward for the first one). However, over lunchtime I did something like 8 green quests and got about 7K XP from turning them in.

So really, not bad at all. I find doing quests stressy as hell (will I ever, ever, ever lose my FFXI fear of dying? IT DOES NOT MATTER IN WOW! Gah!), and I enjoy BGs, so this is a nice option. I'm not going to do all one or the other, but it's nice to have a non-quest option.

(Also, I have no idea if something more than just winning or losing comes into play on XP reward. That'd be an interesting thing to know, but my quick googling came up with nothing.)

Edit: Hm. I totally forgot about the money/drops/rewards you get for doing quests, and my little rogue is already way, way hurting for money (he's 18 and I only just upgraded his last bag this morning, now he's broke again). No herbing/skinning in battlegrounds, and I bet there's no skilling up of weapons. Hmmmmm.

I've heard that most exp comes from doing the objectives of the battleground, such as capturing the flag in WSG.

And you never get over the FFXI fear of dying, trust me, I'm the same way. I do ridicule people in WoW who /wrists when they die because "amg i haz 2 pay sooooooooo much gold"

*laughs* I do the same thing!

And ah, that makes sense! So I couldn't just sit back and idle and make lots of XP.

You do realize there's PVP/BG quests you can do, right?

And those quests give gold and bonus honor...wait...

It becomes an endless causality loop!!!

You PVP for honor and XP! AND you PVP quest for even more XP and honor AND GOLD! And so you PVP...

:o I hadn't! Are they daily-type quests or one time only? (Well, I knew there were level 80 quests I could do, but are there low level PvP/BG ones?)

Oh, right. I think they're higher level, dailies. :(

I'm sorry.

THOUGH -- I recall seeing a bunch of quest giving NPCs in the BGs sometimes, so maybe if you go in and look around you might find quests you can do while you're there. =)

There are a few one-time-only quests for the BGs. I recall there being some you could get for Arathi Basin at the actual BG entrance in Arathi Highlands. There may be more for the others.

Check at the battlemasters in the cities for daily quests related to the BGs.

Ooooh yeah, I should pick that up! I think it's a good chunk of XP, too.

Check at the battlemasters in the cities for daily quests related to the BGs.

Thanks!

I don't think being afraid of death is a bad thing. Sure, it doesn't mean diddly-poop in WoW since you just lose some repair cost (oh noes, not like WoW throws gold at you or anything >.>), but the same "Mustn't die, mustn't die, mustn't die!" Attitude can still do you could!

I know when I do PvP I don't really care if I win, as long as I don't die. That can mean I'm much harder to kill then other people because I'm worrying about my own survival; if I have to obliterate someone to achieve that, so be it.

Plus it means I have to walk back from the graveyard less.

Oddly, I don't mind dying in PvP. (If I did, I'd never PvP again! I seem to die really, really easily.) Seems almost like we're meant to die while doing that. :P

I like the WG graveyard! You have to jump down from it, and I enjoy spinning around in the air as I do. Heehee.

I recall you posted about having trouble with leveling as a Druid -- there's a whole series of articles at WoW.com that you might find useful.

Here's one on leveling from 10-20:
