Darned Tuesday morning downtimes...
Aug. 25th, 2009 07:31 amUsually I do my cooking and fishing dailies pre-work, but since it's Tuesday morning I can't. Worse than that, my server's going to be down until noon today. Blah!
I finally unfriended the FFXI LJ comm, basically my last tie to FFXI. (Sometimes, when I'm bored out of my skull, I glance at BG, but that's like once a month.) I really thought I'd miss the game, maybe have been back by now, but I'm not at all. I do miss decorating my mog house and chatting with folks, but the latter can be done over IM and the former... well... I guess there's Animal Crossing if I wanted to get back into that!
I also thought I'd be bored out of my mind by PvP by now. 22 levels of XPing only through AB and counting! I'm still enjoying it though -- heck, I might be enjoying it more now that I'm learning to just chill and keep my mouth shut no matter how wrong and annoying other people are. I think the thing that keeps PvP fun is that every time it's different. Matches take up to 20 minutes, and no two are the same. Generally I defend (best honor that way), and some matches I don't see a single alliance person, some matches I get killed again and again and again. Some matches they camp the graveyard and I can't even get back to my base, some matches we camp theirs. Some matches it's a close race, some there's a clear winner from the get-go. Sometimes I beat my head against abrick wall paladin, sometimes I solo kill someone five levels above me (eee!).
And, when I get tired of PvP, there's RP! I've expanded my RP circle (not much, but added a few people), which is good!
So, all in all, everything's going well online. If only the servers would come back up. :P

Date: 2009-08-25 03:44 pm (UTC)That sucks that you're server is down till noon, our server is back up at 11 (2pm my time, bah) but that's one of the most annoying things about WoW is the constant maintenance for me. I know, it's needed cause of just the size and blah blah blah; but it doesn't make it any less annoying to have free time (and have woken up way early to let the dog out on top of that!) and then sitting around for 8 hours cause the servers are down.
AB is really fun when you get a close game. My favourite of all time was when we fulfilled 2 of the achievements for AB. The first being overcoming a 500 resource deficit to win, and the second was winning 1600-1590, in the same damn match! It was epic, there was great communication (we had a bunch of AFKs early on so we were screwed but they got kicked or left when they came back and saw we were screwed and we got good people in their place), and we were just kicking ass left, right, and center.

Ha! That's great! I've gotten both, but not at the same time.
I'm so excited! I'll be getting my 10K HK achievement today! :D

Date: 2009-08-25 06:06 pm (UTC)I'm used to Tabletop or MU*/Text based RP. Trying to talk like my toon or the like would be very odd.

Date: 2009-08-25 07:15 pm (UTC)I'd much rather drag people onto IM or play on a MU*, but much of my RP is still on WoW itself.

Date: 2009-08-25 07:32 pm (UTC)Then again I don't go out looking for it either.
I don't think I'd like being size limited in what I was saying. I'm spammy by nature! Ask anyone that's RPd with me on MU*. Adding in /emotes would probably just irk me. =)
Still, I'm glad you've found fun, and shocked you like WoW PVP so much -- I've not found a lot to recommend it.

Date: 2009-08-25 08:32 pm (UTC)And yeah, the line limit is annoying, but can be gotten around. You just make a pointy bracket thing (LJ won't let me use one in my comment) which means you're continuing. Not perfect, but...

*laughs* People keep saying that to me! I have no idea why I like it either, but I'm glad I do. As much as I hate questing, I'd have an ulcer and nothing but level 1 characters without PvP.

Date: 2009-08-25 07:18 pm (UTC)I'm flagged PvP for five minutes after leaving a BG. I spent about an hour one day trying to get out of Rachet. Leave BG, get killed, run to body, BG opens and lets me in, finishes and drops me out, I get killed... etc. Eventually I stopped entering BGs, waited for people to leave, and hearthed fast. :P That as a tad frustrating.
