My poor aching hand, but I did it! I figured out a way I can win at jousting! I keep my index finger on 4 (shields) and my pinky or ring finger on 1 (melee) and just spam the two of them -- ignore the icons, don't watch for the cooldowns (and try not to get annoyed at "I can't cast that yet!" in arrogant belf voice), just hit those two keys as fast as I can over and over. Stay on top of the other guy, when he moves back to charge, shield break him and then get back on top of him so he can't charge me.

My hand is killing me, took about a half-hour of that to beat the three people representing their race, but wow! I've never won before! :D

I know someone suggested this method before, but the problem had been I was watching the buttons so I could see when it cooled, so I was losing track of what the foe was doing. Woo hoo! Poor Crowfeathers is stuck as a low level jouster, but maybe Keen can become a champ! :D :D

:o I love you! I found where to turn them off, now I don't hear all those annoying messages!

Ya definitely turn off voices. I also have something that removes the error text that appears as well since I hit lots of buttons. Now that you can do the jousting you can start trying to get better at it! Maybe instead of a shield breaker try just a charge and then end up next to them without them getting off their own shield breaker. If you can master that then try out throwing a shield breaker while you're speed running after the charge. Jousting woo!

I actually just found a way I can solo Chillmaw (3 person daily from the tournament with a big dragon who comes with 3 adds as he dies), but just barely o.O

Depends on class; I can solo him on my pally, but don't have a snowball's chance in Hell on my mage.

Ya I always got killed on my DK. I hear some classes have an easy time with him (I just assume pally can solo everything now adays, WANT TAUREN PALLY NOW!!) but my DK always seemed to be just short, his cultist buddies would always destroy me but with Army of the Dead, my Ghoul, my Gargoyle, my magic zone bubble, anti-magic shell, and Death Strike, I can just barely manage.

I'm backwards! I do the shield break while chasing them thing now (sometimes it doesn't work, sometimes I get too close too fast, but still! Sometimes it DOES work!). Now and then I try to add charging in, but I'm fine with 'slow and steady' since it works! :D

o.O Wow, yay!

Sounds like something you coudl do with /castsequence - have you tried playing with macros for that?

Now granted, /castsequence is the same as spamming 1 until it casts, then spamming 4 until it casts, then switching back to 1. NOt as effective. If you were to do a two-line macro
/cast Action1 Name
/cast Action2 Name
That would *always* do the first action IF it is available, and do the second action if the first fails and the second is available. The side effect is you *always* get at least one error message from that. (side note, /cast is the same as /use and either one can do any action in your book or right-clickable item in inventory)

I wish you could really do two-action macros, but I think that's what they put the "global cool down" of 1/2 second in there to defeat. You can't script a macro to wait 1/2 second and do something, they happen immediately one after the other, so you almost always get the first action and then "Can't do that yet" for every other action, which is why I guess people use /castsequence now.

Incidentally I love love love /castsequence with my DK, instead of remembering the proper sequence, I just build a really long /castsequence and then spam "1" to kill things.

Ah, thanks for the info! I ended up just binding my shields (4) to the z key, which works so much better. 1 and z is a more natural position for my hand than 1 and 4, so not only does it not hurt, I can push them faster!

I don't remember if I posted this, but here's a video of how I do it. I have a version of it with text talking about what I do, but I couldn't figure out how to combine them. I'll be adding annotations when I have time though!

Hmm, didn't remember it being that small. Maybe it's just my laptop screen? If it's too small for ya'll, let me know and I'll try to fix it.

Are you talking about jousting at the Argent tournament? It gets harder a little later on. You've got to get it down, perfectly.

What I do:

1. Shields all the way up.

2. Activate the battle from behind the mob. Therefore, when they walk to the center of the field, you can start off with a charge. (sometimes you can throw in a shield-break before you charge)

3. Spam 1 until they start to walk away to do their charge. When they walk away, do a charge.

4. Right after your charge connects and you're still plummeting past the mob, jump. And keep jumping while you make a circle to turn towards the mob again. When you're re-facing the mob, do a shield break.

5. If their far enough away and you can, charge.

6. Spam 1 until they walk away and repeat.

Ack, it gets harder? Drat! Thanks for the info, if my tactic stops working I'll try it out!
