Spammy Thistle is spammy tonight! But at least this post will be behind a cut to avoid spoilers.

Holy cow, how many main characters can he kill off in a chapter? As much as I have been avoiding spoilers, I saw one that Catelyn dies. I wasn't upset in the least, her chapters are the dullest ones in the book. But... but... Robb was killed, too! I didn't like him much, though he was interesting enough to read about, but he would have been the last person I thought would be killed! (Seriously, I had thought he was going to become a successful king and make it all the way to the end.)

Looking back on it, I'm amused at myself: I read the paragraph three times, thinking I must have somehow misunderstood something or the words "thrust a longsword into his chest and through his heart and twisted it" could somehow have multiple meanings. :P

Man, I love GRRM's willingness to kill characters off! And yay no more Catelyn chapters! (Though the same spoiler implied she might not stay dead... I'm not seeing how that would work, since they cut her throat, but I guess I'll see!)

Best Books Ever. If you haven't read the Song of Ice and Fire books, do it! They're so very unlike other books!

If you like Martin's style, you might want to check out The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch.

I liked Lamora better than the Song of Ice and Fire, but almost everybody disagrees with me on that score.

Oooh, thanks! *puts it on Amazon list* Eventually I'll be caught up with Song and will need more things to read!

I'm glad you are enjoying the series. :) I got into it right after Clash was put into trade paperback, so I got to wait for Feast. And am still waiting for A Dance With Dragons. Whatever you do, don't friend GRRM's LJ, because every time he posts about football, you will want to punch your monitor. Dance was supposed to be halfway done when Feast was published. That was like, four? five? years ago. He STILL hasn't finished Dance. I don't care if he's not my bitch, as Neil Gaiman says, jerk needs to stop watching football, stop going on random vacations, stop editing his crappy Wild Cards series (which is HORRENDOUS, BTW), and work on Dance.

Ok, rant done.

Hee! I friended him long ago, back when I first started reading. I think it's easier for me, since I haven't had to wait at all yet. (Best Thing Ever to be able to finish one book and have the next one there at hand waiting for you.)

stop editing his crappy Wild Cards series (which is HORRENDOUS, BTW)

Ah, thanks for the info! I was thinking about checking it out after catching up...

Isn't it mind-blowing? I mean, the audacity of killing Robb, especially. Plus everyone else who's been offed. I mean, JUST.

Heehee yes! Even the next day I had to go back and keep checking to make sure that somehow I hadn't just misunderstood. I suppose I should have known he'd be killed (hell, by the end of the series all the main characters will probably be dead!) but it still surprised me. :D So much love for a writer who is willing to kill characters off!

Yay, now we can stop dancing around the subject of the Red Wedding on your posts.

Heehee yes! I'm dying to know what happens next, but I'm dreading running out of books to read, so as good as the series is, I'm sort of glad I'm being forced to read it slowly (30-60 minutes of reading per day is about all I can get).

So you still haven't found out about Beric Dondarrion yet eh? That changed the tone of the book quite a bit for me, especially regarding the Red Wedding and such. Right now I'm just really frustrated that I can't find a copy of the last book.

Nope, I don't think so! And you can't find Feast of Crows? Did you check Amazon? That's where I got my copy.

No no, I mean the book after Feast of Crows. Even if it isn't out yet, I am frustrated with my inability to find a pirated copy.

Oooh, Dance of Dragons. It's not even halfway written yet, so... yeah. :P

Yay! So glad you're enjoying these. I'm rereading them too atm and am half way through the last currently available one. It's a lot slower than the others but if you remember it's really half a book it sort of makes sense. Also, you can tell there's a lot of setup going on for what'll be an awesome run to the end!

*laughs* As long as it is, it's sort of scary that it's just half of a book! It's really nice how long the books are without being spammy -- GRRM is no Stephen King! (I like King, but so much of his books could be cut away without hurting the story.)
