Grumble, mumble, birthday...

The only thing I really wanted for my birthday today was a free meal and a normal day.

Went to work, then went to the Chinese food place that had the 'Free meal on your birthday!' sign that I noticed months ago. Ate, when the check came smiled and told them it was my birthday. Was told the meal is free only when you come with three other adults and a child (WTF?). Blah, no free meal.

Okay, so how about the normal day? Tuesday is WoW patch day, so of course the game was down until 11 AM. It's 3.3 patch day, so of course that downtime got extended an hour.

It's now 6 PM and I still cannot log on. I've been sitting here trying for three fricking hours. *rubs face*

The only thing I wanted to do today was get my dailies done and get a little RP in. Apparently that's too much to ask for. Mumble.

It's so darned cold, too. High today was 50, there was frost on the ground this morning. (Nearly slipped on the ice in the parking lot at work...) Very un-California weather. Blah.

Stupid, annoying WoW. Most other players are able to log on, I'm part of a select few who cannot. Grrrrrrrrr.

Edit, hours later: Eventually got on, woot. Had just enough time to frantically do my dailies before bed. zzz

PS: Lips are chapped. Hurt!

Don't worry, I had issues logging into WoW myself. When I did finally get in, all the addons I thought I had updated either weren't updated or un-updated themselves. Stupid stupid auto patchers!

Oh, it's totally true. Through all this I was saying to myself "At least I have a job", "at least I have enough free money to play WoW", and as I was freezing "At least I have a house and heat!".

I didn't log onto WoW or even really try today. I figured it would be all hell with maintenance and issues so I decided to just let the thing update and be done with it for awhile. Gonna probably take a break from WoW till after Christmas and the stupid progression buzz wears off.

I don't much mind the spamming of instances it's just that there isn't much of a point to it. You're effectively spamming instances to get gear to spam raids and then you spam raids until new instances come out and then you spam those new instances until new raids come out and then you spam new raids until new instances come out and then a new expansion comes out and blows all that out of the water and you spam those new expansion instances so you can spam the new expansion raids and then a new patch comes out and you spam the new patch instances and... *head explodes*

Point being, there is never a point you get to where you can just enjoy the game with the gear you worked hard (or rather, "hard") to get since you always just have to get better gear. At least there are points you can do that in XI. Sure you could just keep getting the best gear but eventually you hit that ledge where there really isn't much that's better and you actually have to play the game.

I guess that's just the difference between the two. Neither being wrong, I just prefer FFXI's way I suppose.

Totally agreed. I've spent the night watching people want to kill themselves over all these PUGs they're doing with awful people... for what point? They're just going to have to do it again and again and again...
