Must not bite heads off, must not bite heads off, must not bite heads off...

#1: Person keeps talking about how hard professions are to level, how OMG he's not making money hand over fist while leveling it. Bitch, please. You don't know what it's like to level a hard craft/profession. How would you like it if you had to spend millions to max out a craft/profession and made zero money until you did? For nearly every profession in the game? Go level crafting on FFXI, then hunt down and kiss every Blizz dev for making their game so easy a four year old could successfully play.

#2: The next person who bitches about being poor on WoW will be hunt down, but not to get a kiss. I made the vial of the sands drake on the 7th of this month, three days ago, and since then have made 15K. This was not even by playing the AH as hard as I used to, I only check in on it a couple times a day now. The markets are still insane for so many items (mats, mostly).

...I need to use "Bitch, please." more often. That was fun!

I play the game very differently than you. I love to quest and do dungeons, and hate PvP and crafting. :)

But a big part of the reason I'm so poor is that I just figured out, after spending literally all my gold to cap enchanting, that at some point when I was unsubscribed they'd created 'enchanted vellium' and that you could auction off enchantments. D'oh! I'd just been enchanting my own gear and overwriting it.

I felt like such a loon when I looked at the enchanter vendor and said, "Hey, wait, what's this do?"

Ha! I did a similar thing. I skilled on the darned stuff for inscription, and when doing enchanting I grumbled on guild that there should be some way to enchant your own alt's stuff...

Although I don't use it for selling my enchants (I could and I remember seeing some addons designed to quickly calculate mats costs) I still love the Vellums, it's the only thing that prevented me from just levelling enchanting on every character heh.

Most of the enchants that are efficient levelers sell for a pittance if they sell at all for that reason, so you probably didn't miss out on too much.

I have to admit... I'm the laziest slacker in the world when it comes to making money in WoW, and even I have about 18k sitting on a bank alt right now. And pretty much all of it came from leveling, a combination of my shaman from 1-80 pre-Cata, and then my shaman and hunter 80-85 in Cata. Since then I've spent a bit, and gained a bit here and there, by selling random crap obtained in dungeons or whatever, but it's pretty much all just fallen into my lap at this point. I'd love to see how much I could make if I actually tried, but with RL riding my ass into the ground right now I don't have the time/motivation to do so. But even so. 18k isn't anything to sneeze at.

Questing is darned good money. I had to do some TW faction stuff to open a vendor, and I made over 1K in a couple hours on quest rewards alone. That's not even counting the random greens that drop!

And 18K is good, yeah. So many people I know (with multiple 80s) have never had over 1K... it boggles me.

For the first time in my WoW career, I got over 10K gold on one character. This was a mix of questing, selling BoE greens, and NPCing BoP gear that was useless to me.

The biggest issue I have with making money is the same reason I have no money IRL: Because I solve problems by throwing money at it. And by "problems," I mean "professions." Wouldn't be so bad off if my priest was JC/miner, but I dropped mining for tailoring.

I never did use my professions as a moneymaker either. I don't go out of my way to mine on characters that can, and I *suck* at playing the AH. I tried it the other day with a JC pattern that "like no one on the server has." While I sold my first gem within the hour for 5x what I paid for the gem, the rest were sent back.

But I don't complain about my lack of gold because it's my own damn fault 95% of the time. I'm more than likely to farm what I need if it doesn't involve PLing a profession. Right now, I'm farming the farmable mats for a chopper. I don't really have any nice things that are bought, but I do have appropriate level professions (If not maxed out.). Now that Guttler's being leveled, I'm getting gems from mining so that cost to me is lowering. Will be better when I have more time to do dailies on both chars.

Yeah, that's what I do, too. I didn't farm a single thing for the sand drake mount, I bought everything on the AH. Some things as high as 200% over price. And, when the herbs weren't for sale, I bought the overpriced flasks. :/

I never did use my professions as a moneymaker either.

It's funny, but mostly I don't either. I have almost every profession, and I only use one to make money.

I really have no idea how I make my money. I just get stuff and sell stuff...

There was a point in time that I threw every BoE item I had on the AH, and if it came back to me, I'd throw it up again. I have no idea how much I wasted on AH charges. XD

I have a friend who has a Traveler's Tundra Mammoth on two chars, and a chopper on at least one, and still over 10K gold. My guild leader's wife has over 40K, which I've seen for myself.

I guess I just suck at taking advantage of what I have. XD

I fully acknowledge that I am WoW poor BECAUSE I AM EXTREMELY LAZY.

There is no other reason. Just that one.

*laughs* Well, it is a game! I think it's fine to be lazy and poor if you're okay with that! :) And if Lu ever needs gold or something made on WRA, you better poke me!

I felt this was relevant. (http://28.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lcmbzycpqB1qzmowao1_500.jpg)

Although I will admit that most professions make little to no money while levelling (even if you farm everything yourself) but as an enchanter all I can say is "Whaaaa..."

Also, as for your end point in #1, I disagree, so does Ebbie. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHGCZemYusM)

Heh.. I think my WoW poverty is mostly caused by the fact that I have ALWAYS just dumped anything I couldn't use that was not soulbound into the guild bank in the hopes that someone else could use it. I found myself doing this even during the brief period when it was really just me and Ryan (on various and sundry alts) in the guild. Maybe I was saving the things until I found some use for them? I don't know. I have a problem.I also only ever carry about 100g on Jell. Everytime I stop to dump greens and crafting mats and such in the bank, I toss all my gold in there too. But then.. I never complain about being poor. I sometimes state it matter of factly. But that is honesty. Not bitching. (I do this in real life too.)

Yes! I have no issues with people being poor (in game or out!). If YOU are comfortable with that, I'm peachy keen with it, too! It's only when people complain about it that I have more issues with it.

And yeah, I bet the guild bank is a big part of it for you. I made a giant chunk of money by selling off the volatile airs I had just tossed in the bank.
