I didn't get to watch the ep until today. I totally lost track of what day it was, so in the middle of my RP scene I blinked when I saw it on. "What's Glee doing playing on a Monday night?"

All in all, I can't say it was a tragedy that I waited an extra day to see it. While the ep had its moments (TROUT MOUTH! *dies*), and some amazing moments (BOYKISS), for the most part I was pretty meh about it.

My opinion on the ep went downhill fast in the last five minutes or so. Mocking Sarah Palin is about as challenging as kicking a mentally handicapped, blind, deaf kid with no arms and legs. You all know I would in no way defend Palin, but that doesn't mean I found Glee's take on her funny. Just the opposite in fact, I rolled my eyes through the whole thing.

I keep wavering back and forth on Sue, too. I didn't like her at all in this ep. The letter was okay, but why in the world is she still a teacher in the school? Why don't parents complain about her? Hell, why wasn't she arrested for assaulting the woman announcing the results? Hell again, why in the world is she holding such a grudge against children?

The original songs did little for me, other than trout mouth (*snickers more*), and Kurt's... what was it called, blackbird?

Still loving Santana.

Four weeks of reruns now, I believe. zzz

Kurt's song is actually a Beatles song....

I agree with you, btw, re Sue. She can't blackmailing everyone to keep her job, and why would she be? Real World rules can't possibly apply to her.

Oh! I hadn't known Kurt's wasn't one of the originals. Thanks for the info! I only know the most popular Beatles songs.

You may find this entertaining!

I cannot remember how you feel about Survivor, but if you don't totally hate it, you may be intrigued by the Glee Survivor polls my friend [livejournal.com profile] miggy is currently running.

I come into this discussion with the personal knowledge of Glee to the same extent that I have personal knowledge of Coca-Cola, Big Mac Sauce, and all 11 herbs and spices at KFC (Read: None.).

Is this Sue person actually any good at her job? If this person is good at their job, other people will overlook it. I believe the proper terminology is "Bunny Ears Lawyer."

She was a "good" cheerleading coach. Good in that she won lots. She was a horrible person though, really mean to the kids (and the setting is in a high school).

Some characters have pervasive or extremely noticeable personality quirks, but somehow remain faithfully employed because they are just that good at what they do. Coworkers, superiors, and friends are willing to overlook certain informalities because of this (e.g., a hypothetical highly successful lawyer who happens to wear fuzzy pink bunny ears during all his cases) so long as they get the job done and cause a minimal amount of intentional problems. This is a cost/benefit ordeal: if they weren't so good at their job or their quirks were too obstructive an employeer would consider them a necessary sacrifice for sanity.

That's the definition of Bunny Ears Lawyer from the one site I go to. House is in this category.

Oh! I seem to be one of the rare folks who are immune to that site. I've glanced at it a few times, then wandered off. Everyone else describes it as OH MY GOD I'VE BEEN LOOKING AT IT FOR THREE DAYS NOW WITHOUT SLEEP AND I DON'T WANT TO STOP.

There's one guy I work with who sees me on it so much that he's like "Aren't you done with that YET!? You've been reading it for like a year!"

Alternatively... (http://comixed.memebase.com/2009/06/01/tv-tropes/)

I have no idea how anyone can be immune! D=

It's interesting, but it's not THAT interesting. Since my last comment I poked about on the site, read part of the DS9 page, then got bored and closed it and came back here to check my mail/continue replying to comments.

I know it's kind of the point of the site (the front page was one of the ones I read between comments), but it's a tad too "unprofessional" for me. Some of the comments were almost snarky, and at one point on the DS9 page there was a brief conversation between two people in comments on some part of the show. It's playing at being a wiki while not wanting to be wiki-like. That just doesn't work for me.

But clearly I'm the odd man out (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/OddNameOut)!

When TvTropes eventually takes over the rest of the web, you shall be the one to save us!

Seriously, that site is like *crack* to me. I keep right-clicking on links and opening more tabs, and more tabs, and more tabs, and I never can manage to read them all before my eyes give up and request that I please not be staring at the screen for hours on end again. I don't do that with any other websites!

I've got your back, Thistle!

(I think I was part of a secret government experiment to inoculate children against TvTropes. It doesn't do anything at all for me.)

...oh, god, AND I tittered at the Palin joke. I'm that person. That person on the internet.

I hang my head in shame!

I was thinking, "Huh, so that's why they keep me around!"
Then I read the "cause a minimal amount of intentional problems." part and that theory went out the window. Must be for my fuzzy personality then.

I think they're getting a little heavy-handed with Sue. They need to let her stew in the background for a while, I think.

And yeah, I wasn't impressed by regionals at all, to be honest with you. The duet Kurt and Kurt's Shoehorned In Boyfriend did was just...terrible, too. I don't think Kurt's voice was really meant for the part he did there.

The Tea Party thing made me roll my eyes a lot. A loooot. And I hate Tea Partiers.

Agreed on all that. Maybe Sue needs to take a trip for a while, get her off-scene. What are they going to do with her in the future anyway? I doubt they'll keep her as that team's coach since she lost (and punched the woman...).

I also wonder what they'll do with what's his name (boyfriend). Kurt's going to have to get back to New Directions eventually, and their relationship seems to be getting going...

Someone on my flist joked that the Glee writers never wrote anything before this show, and based on the Tea Party "jokes" I'd have to agree with that.

Just caught up tonight!

Boykiss <3 <3 <3 <3

I loved 'Blackbird' but was regrettably dubious about the Kurt/Blaine duet, which I didn't recognize. I wanted it to be awesome, but their voices just didn't blend well. Then again, I don't adore a lot of the Warblers' music. (When are you going to subvert your sexy boyfriend and drag him back to New Directions with you, Kurt?)

The group original song was okay, but nothing to write home about. (Back to covers plz, Glee.) I was dubious about Rachel's original song too, but I'm getting ho-hum about her. Rachel As Main Soloist At Regionals has been done. I want more Santana and Brittany songs!

I admit, the Palin knockoff made me giggle madly.

But overall, yeah, there were a couple of high points but the episode was not the climactic trip to regionals that it was last year. Obviously they're building to nationals this time, but still... there didn't really feel as though there was a victorious moment in the show, even with New Directions winning. Too many things going on at once, perhaps.

(When are you going to subvert your sexy boyfriend and drag him back to New Directions with you, Kurt?)

I'm hoping that happens! I can't see how it will, unless that school burns down or something... Blaine was too worried about bullying and such. Though the Glee writers aren't all that good about being consistent, so maybe they'll just ignore the earlier Blaine stuff. (Or, hmmm, maybe his family will go broke and he won't be able to go to private school anymore!)

(Back to covers plz, Glee.)

Yes yes yes. Though Trout Mouth was almost enough to save this one ep music-wise, please let's go back to covers.

I want more Santana and Brittany songs!

YES YES YES. Gah! Yes! Loving, confused, emotional, crying songs... followed by Sam telling Artie he hopes they're that close one day. I nearly died! And that's one thing Glee is really good at: Seconds-long reactions to things, odd little looks or expressions.

I admit, the Palin knockoff made me giggle madly.

Oh good! I'm glad it worked for some people! :)

I wonder what will happen after nationals. Globals? And what after that? Back to regionals with a new class?
