If I had someplace better to go... (WoW)

I've said it before and I'll say it again: If I had anyplace better to go for RP, I'd be gone from WoW. Tonight for a new reason (new as in not posted before, not new as newly happening, it's been going on for a while).

In my experience, MMOs are played for the people, not for the game itself. And know what? I'm sick of being alone on WoW. I mean alone, fully alone. A bunch of social channels, and only one single one with people on it. And that one channel with people? No one has said a single thing over it in weeks.

I was so lonely and bored I actually leveled Thistle the worgen hunter tonight.

Doesn't help that usually I could spend my time making money, but there's a tiny handful of mats on the AH all for six or seven times my buying price, so... I just stand there at the AH, waiting.

I went to SMC to troll for random RP and everyone either logged, idled out, or ran off when I posted at them. (Plus the city seemed lacking in people, felt more like middle of the day than evening.)

Bah. I've tried tossing alts into guilds. I've looked for more social channels. I'm not used to struggling to make friends online. It's usually easier there!

Stupid game. I just want people to chat with and RP with. Is that asking too much?

Maybe they heard you are an evil cat eater and are running in fear. I know I would. I don't know, we are in the March blahs so that might be it. Winter isn't really over yet and spring hasn't completely begun and people seem to get sick this time of year so maybe people are just off. It will get better hopefully.

I have to admit that I've never been satisfied with RP in WoW. Or any MMO.

Apart from good old-fashioned tabletop, nothing, in my mind, beats text-based mushes and the like for RP.

For sure. WoW RP has the benefit of having hundreds of players though, which (in theory) makes it easier to find RP. As for the quality of RP... that's another story.

I should stop being lazy and apply to some MU*. Though first I'd have to find one that's both active and some theme I'd like...

I should really get off my butt and look into LJ or email based stuff, too. I've never tried either of those, maybe they'd be fun.

Laziness keeps me on WoW as much as anything else. :/

I'm not sure how many mailing list RPs there are left. Forum, journal, and IM RPing seem to be the most popular formats at the moment--though that observation might be a product the kind of RP I search for.

Most RP, on MG and WrA, seems to have shifted from SMC to Org simply due to Org being the new transportation hub.

I've heard people say that before, and it's a pain in the butt to get to SMC now, but I rarely see RP in Org. Maybe I'll send Haken strolling the streets tonight and see if I can scare some up. (Unfortunately Keen wouldn't be too happy hanging out there. Orcs are not exactly his type.)
