The good: While this is sad news to some, I can't say I'm unhappy at all: The Obsidium shuffle will no longer work in the coming patch. I'm breaking my "don't talk about goldmaking tricks" since this one will be vanishing. Since cut green gems sell to the vendor for 9 gold, all you had to do is buy Obsidium or Elementium below "5 ore for 9 gold" and you'd make 100% risk free profit. As often times you'd get two greens and/or one to two blue raw gems, this was really good money. If you could buy ore that cheaply.

For some people on some servers (Hi [livejournal.com profile] giftofarthas!), this was outstanding money. For people on most servers it was. For people on my server? It was basically knowledge I could never use, because our ore prices never fell low enough to take advantage of it.

So, all in all I'm happy with this change. It somewhat levels the playing field between servers.

The bad: Not bad so much as semi-mildly annoying. There's been an update to the Dungeon Finder Call to Arms I posted about yesterday. Now the mounts and pets from the bags will be BoA. Sigh. Even more advantage for people who play tanks!

The not listed in the subject line: Both of my worgen boys are now 24. It's almost mind boggling how easy it is to level one (hunter) compared to the other (cat druid). Thistle (the hunter) moves to the next zone on time, he's fine handling quests of or above his level. Dandelion (druid) gets his butt kicked endlessly. I have him stay and finish every quest in a zone, even when they go deep green, before he moves on.

I tried sending Dandelion to an instance yesterday. 35 minute queue, I was added to the group when they wiped on the final boss. Yay. At least I got a goodie bag with a cape upgrade. Wasn't worth my time though.

RP: My FF MUX app got approved as-is, woot. I need to log on tonight and set Thistle up.

As Keen isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, I decided I really shouldn't be using my best grammar in his dialogue. "We should of" and stuff. However, it makes me twitch! And worse yet, I worry the people I'm playing with will think it's me OOCly who doesn't know better!

*laughs* I've always tried to RP characters speaking as they would in-character. Which often makes me look like an idiot, but... eh. Of course, back in the day I was really, really bad at it, but I like to think I've gotten better with accents and such. I can definitely speak formally, I do in a lot of my school stuff (we actually have a special "professionalism" grade alongside our regular GPA) but when I'm doing journal stuff, or whatever, I tend to type similarly to how I speak. And I use slang. A lot. If that isn't obvious. Heh.

Oh wow, that's cool! A great way to ding people who turn in papers that look like they were written by texting.

Ha, I hear you on the RP grammar/vocabulary. I'm playing a character right now who isn't all that bright, either, and I keep having to restrain myself from using big words. ;)

Yes! I do that too! Ha.

At least it's easier to dumb down than to try to play someone much smarter than you. Long time back there was a person I knew who RPed a genius. I didn't envy her!

Don't worry about the dialogue! Unless the person you're playing with is particularly stupid, no one is going to believe what goes between the quotation marks IC is how you really type/think. Lots of characters--in professional writing and RP alike--have particular patterns of speech that they stick to, and so long as your grammar is fine in poses and OOC chatter, no one is going to think less of you.

Unless, again, they are really, really stupid. :| ...Which I suppose is a possibility if we're talking about WoW RP.

Yeah. This is WoW RP we're talking about. People have a seriously hard time with the IC/OOC line...

Then just keep in mind that if anyone thinks less of you for roleplaying your character appropriately, they're not bright enough to matter. I sure as heck don't respect the opinion of anyone who can't comprehend the clear line between fiction and reality.

Even more advantage for people who play tanks!

Only if they're willing to put up with the pain of tanking a Heroic pug. And are good enough to take their group to an end boss kill.

Ha! Good point.

If I were a tank, I'd rather just farm directly for the mounts...

I think a lot of people are going to go that way, honestly. The incentive's just not big enough. Just too many jerks in the DF. :/

From: [identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com
It's funny, even when people aren't purposefully being jerks, the DF is still too painful to put up with. Just to see how things would be, I queued on my druid boy. The group was so very, very, very painful. Topics of conversation included how white people are better than all others (started when one person said he was Chinese) to how belves are 'lol gay fags' (started when one person was talking about Horde races). 15 minutes (and five deaths!!) later, I wanted to stab them all in the face and just dropped party.

The BoA rewards are a little better. Still annoying (I want JPs on my rogue, not my paladin!) but at least a bit more fair. Even if putting up with idiots is still a huge turnoff, but I honestly haven't had many abusive pugs. I'm lucky, I guess!

More excited about bind-on-battlenet-account heirlooms T_T Want nao plz. My holydin needs a lockdress!

Right now I play only on WRA, but I'm still excited about bind-on-battlenet-account heirlooms! That'll be sooo handy for folks who play on different servers!

And sorry, can't type more comment, distracted by your icon. *pats him*

Screw different servers, try different sub-accounts @_x I have 14 characters across WRA! :( Like Serathen there, who got remade into a holypally while I relearn the class. :D

From: [identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com
Oh! That makes sense. I'm so tempted to make a second account, it'd be so handy to be able to play with myself (so to speak). Thistle and Dandelion, they're the same level, but I have to keep going back and forth leveling one and then the other...

Wow, what I wouldn't have given to know that gold making information earlier! Wait, there's still time I think! =O

Or is it better to just sell what I mine? O_o Blarg so confused. Guess it would be based on how much it sells for. I may have to look. Guttler should be sitting on a pretty penny either way.

I read about the Dungeon Finder change. I talked about it with my co-worker, a hunter, who actually pointed out the fact that DPS get shafted. I can agree, though I'm also 3/4 biased to the side that isn't getting screwed with a Priest (Shadow/Disc), a DK (Blood/Unholy), a paladin (Undecided/Undecided), and a mage (Totally a tank. *nodnod*).

To my side though, my Disc Priest and Blood DK are FAR from able to function in Cata dungeons. =o

Yep, you have until 4.1 drops to do it. And WTF, you asked for the chick's blog URL, I gave it to you, this was her featured tip! How do you not know about it? :P

Or is it better to just sell what I mine?

Totally depends on the prices on your server. If you were on WRA, selling the ore would be better. It takes 5 ore to make one green gem worth 9 gold. So do the math from there.

And yeah, DSP totally do, they'll never be the needed class!

Just saw this news!

The additional reward for completing the Dungeon Finder Call to Arms (called the Satchel of Exotic Mysteries) will be Bind on Account; able to be freely sent to other characters on your account once you receive it.

Hi!

Really I knew eventually they'd drop the vendor price on green quality gems. It was fun while it lasted though!
