Been a while since I posted something more normal to my LJ, huh?

Bull semen spill causes scare, closes highway in Nashville

While the title is fully true, the story isn't anywhere near as, er, exciting as I had expected it to be.

---

In other news, RP was meh tonight. At first I blamed it on myself (my usual first step), but I think the other person just wasn't into it. His posts were half the size of mine, and the IC conversation petered out to nothing in no time flat -- one of those really awkward times when it seems neither of you have anything to post.

Twitter RP is going surprisingly well. Meeting lots of new people, and I'm seriously enjoying the character limit on messages. It's like drabbling, I tell you! Real drabbling, a hard 100 words, none of this 88 or 559 word "drabbles". Only downside is it seems busiest during work hours, then in the evening dies off. (Which I guess makes sense, in the evening people are doing real RP.)

I never thought I'd say this, but I really, really love Twitter (how it's being used for the RP project, not how the rest of the world uses it). I LOVE rewording things over and over, trying to get what I want to say out while of course using proper English/grammar/spelling/punctuation. It really, really rocks my socks. It feels like writing a drabble every time, somehow that's so very satisfying to me. THE RULES MUST BE FOLLOWED! LOOK AT ME FOLLOWING THE RULES!

Edit: Holy cow (teehee), I just noticed the official quoted in the semen story: B.J. Doughty. *dies*

Edit 2:I love Penn and Teller so much.

Penn and Teller explain Creationsim

Smart people are so very, very sexy. I heard Penn speaking on NPR the other day, it was so interesting and so enjoyable to listen to.

And one by them on vaccinations! You tell 'em, guys! So amused!

So what you're saying is... somehow a load of bull semen slipped right passed you, huh?

:P

(Reuters) - A spill of frozen bull semen bound for a Texas breeder triggered a scare here early Tuesday that temporarily shut down an interstate highway during the morning rush hour.

The incident began when the driver of a Greyhound bus carrying the freight alerted the fire department he had lost a part of his load while negotiating the ramp leading from Interstate 40 onto Interstate 65 south in downtown Nashville.

"We didn't know what it was, but we were told (the canisters) were non-toxic," said Maggie Lawrence, a fire department spokeswoman.

When firefighters arrived on the ramp, they saw "four small propane-sized canisters (that) began to emit a light vapor," Lawrence said.

In addition to the vapor, the canisters also let off an unpleasant odor and the ramp was closed while emergency personnel tried to determine what was in the containers.

The bus driver turned around to retrieve the canisters. Once emergency personnel learned the "smoking" canisters were nothing hazardous and that they simply contained frozen bull semen that had been stored on dry ice, Tennessee Department of Transportation and fire department workers cleared the ramp.

"It was no different to us than if a mattress fell off a truck," said transportation spokeswoman B.J. Doughty.

I am so disappointed! The people who come up with headlines are evil.

I know! I was hoping for something a lot more interesting... but check the edit at the bottom of my post! That almost makes up for it.

You're right, I was highly disappointed by that story. I should have remembered that semen used for cattle breading is kept frozen so it wouldn't be as interesting a story. D'oh well.

Yeah, same. The title just summoned up such images! Oceans! Waves! of white! The road coated with the stuff...

However, PETA Porn (http://gizmodo.com/5832964/animal+friendly-peta-porn-coming-soon) doesn't disappoint.

So what that story is saying is that the bus...spilled its load.

That joke didn't come out near as funny as I thought it would.

*snickers* I see where you were going with that.

I probably should've made a comment about a sticky mess.

The radio show I listen to in the morning has a bit where a person imitating a celebrity calls in. He did Bill Clinton this morning and made reference to it. There was a joke made about how a blue dress was used to clean up the mess.

I've always enjoyed p&t's bullshit. An entertaining show, but, much like Mythbusters, they disappoint in their tendency to bend the truth a bit to their own ends (especially given how they point out other people misrepresenting their arguments). Still, generally I'd say worth a watch.

They have the best game never released under their branding. (http://desertbus.org/the-rules-of-desert-bus/)

Or at least a good charity game.
