I had to google to see if it was hodge-podge, hodgepodge, or hodge podge, which ironically relates to this post!

Rock, Paper, Cynic comic strip is a little hit and miss, but when it's a hit, it amuses me greatly.

This one reminds me of something I kept meaning to post about, but never got around to it. I had to take someone off my friends list for a unique reason: THEIR friends list. Especially on weekends and vacations, I read my friends-of-friends list a lot, and this person brought the worst, most annoying things to it. That Aspergers comm where people would post things like "I hate doing homework! Help me explain to my teacher why I don't have to because I'm an Aspie!". A comm for "real" witches, with posts asking for help on how to do spells and how to power up various "real magic" items. I also didn't know this person at all, I just friended her for her fanfics (which I never once read after friending her, sigh), so it wasn't like she was even someone I really knew. My friendsfriends list has gone back to being a wonderful place, as good as my friends list itself! :D

This one was sadly familiar. One day, near the end of high school, I said to myself "Okay, self! Doesn't matter if you've been teased since kindergarten! You just got a haircut that looks nice! You know you're smarter than all those bullies! You're going to start feeling good about yourself!" And less than an hour later, some guys driving by in a car yelled awful crap at me. The timing couldn't have been worse, this was the first time I tried to give myself a peptalk like that, and then people went back to the same crap as always. I feel bad that the person who did this comic probably went through something similar. :/ Just remembering this makes me all sad again, I don't understand how people can be so awful.

PS: In the UK, it's hodgepodge, in the US it's hodge-podge.

MASH is going to be an... interesting... show to watch. It's very, very dated in a not-PC sort of way. I watched the first ep (25 minutes long) and in that time they called a black person a spear-chucker, assaulted an officer/drugged him, and probably 15 of those 25 minutes was one male character kissing, groping, and generally touching some woman who kept saying 'no' every time. (And the laugh track is awful!) I know all this was fine at the time the show was made, so I'm not finger-shaking at them, but it's really, really jarring to see now.

One of the things about Teen Wolf being shown on MTV is that there's tons of music in each ep. I discovered this song through it. So dark and sad and good.

I get people who yell shit at me when I'm walking to/from work all the time. Well, not all the time. Usually just in the summer months. Since be damned if we're rolling down the windows and letting the cold in the heckle that random guy we don't know!

I have two ways of handling it (depends on my mood). First, I shrug it off and don't worry about it for the rest of the day. Second, I imagine them losing control and crashing into a nearby ditch in an example of instant karma. Obviously not to hurt them, but just so I can yell things at them as I walk past their crash site.

The second one is mostly when people yell "Get a car!" since that would just be so amazing if it happened. I wouldn't even have to say anything! I could just walk by and smirk at them.

... People yell at you while walking for walking? But... but... walking is the more responsible thing to do! Better for the environment and for you! Arg people!

I'm sorry you get yelled at as well, but I'm glad you handle it so well!

It's really weird yes.

People in my family didn't understand why I don't drive for awhile. Then gas went up 20 cents a litre and now no one asks why I don't drive anymore.

In all fairness to the people who do yell at me for walking. I don't really think they are the kind of people logic would work against. Although if I start saying "bro" enough I might be able to get the point across.

I figure that the people who feel the need to put down complete strangers must have a pretty rotten life themselves. Happy people don't do things like that!

I got teased a lot when I came to the US, because Asians were not common in the area and I did not speak any English. Nobody knew where Korea was, and I got called chink, jap, slant-eyes, all that sort of stuff. One kid even punched me on the playground. I was told that I would be never worth anything because I did not speak English. Well.

I got through all that because I have a wonderful supportive family. And even as a kid I knew that those other kids were miserable. I have a great life. Living well is the best revenge, and I bet those bullys would be gnashing their teeth if they could see how successful and happy I am. ;p

That's a good point, you're right.

And ugh! That's awful, I'm so sorry you had to go through that.

. I was told that I would be never worth anything because I did not speak English.

Ha! And now you do the art on shows that their kids probably watch. :D

And for sure, I bet they would. <3
