WoW dress-up (and funfact about cattails)

Sorry for two posts in one day. I went from no posts for a week to more than usual.

Reed: Go!

Firstly, Reed now has a full name, yay! After spending the whole day putting words together with 'Reed', prettyredeyes came up with the winner. :D Reedmace! Reedmace is another name for a cattail, and cattail is a kind of reed! To make this even more amusing to me, I made his first name Katale (play on cattail, though in my head I pronounce it ka-tale, not kat-ale).

Amusing fact: Cattails are also called "corndog grass", which neither Trae nor I had ever heard before, but was an OF COURSE! sort of moment. It's so obvious, once you think about it!

Surprisingly, I was able to make his whole outfit almost all from the AH. Only for his helm (which he won't always wear) did I have to hunt down a blacksmith.

Let me just say that I love it when people don't look at their greens before listing them on the AH. I got this shield for 20 gold. 20 gold!

That could easily have sold for a thousand or more! And the screenshot does it no justice at all, it's beautiful in game. It's a Cata-graphics quality item. It's one of my favorite RP items I own. :) (I just wish it wasn't wood. Why would someone dressed head to toe in plate use a wooden shield? Doesn't it seem like they'd use metal? Even so, I love it so much.)

Unfortunately his helm doesn't perfectly match, but all his gold bits are different shades of gold, so... good enough, I guess. I'm going to keep watching for a better one, though I don't hate this one:



And lastly, best of all, he got RP tonight! It went really smooth. I made a small mistake at one point (he fell into Thistle's speech pattern), but I doubt it was noticeable to the person I was RPing with. I love this point in RP, where you're learning all sorts of new things and things seem to be happening totally by themselves. Even small things, like Thistle ICly moves his ears endlessly, but Reed's didn't shift even once in the whole scene.

Oops, the one thing I didn't do was make a new Twitter account for him. Tonight or tomorrow! :D

Edit: Oops, forgot. I love this blood knight fanart picture. The hands are a little strange, but I love his face/hair and how it's cut off where it is.

Yay! It's so awesome you went with Reedmace! Always looks better without so many E's! XD

That introductory time is always fun, I agree. :D I love when I do a little light RP on a new toon and walk away from the computer afterward knowing all sorts of things I hadn't even come up with. So satisfying. :D

That is a really cool shield! I agree with you on the wood part though. Totally weird. :o

Greenreed, Weereed, Reedreef, the world would have gone into an E shortage at the rate I was going! You not only came up with a great name, you saved us all!

And agreed! Watching them come alive as a whole person is so cool. The person I was RPing with asked about siblings, and I typed my reply without much thought, and it felt so right.

Did you see on the wiki page that at certain stages of growth, you could eat corndog grass like corn on the cob? Such a useful reed!

I always thought that people would use wood because it can snare a weapon. Like if someone is using a bladed weapon when it hits the shield it will cut into it a bit and can cause the weapon to stick (like hitting a tree with a sword/axe). That could give you just enough time to land a killing blow, disarm an opponent, or allow you to go to the attack.

That's always how I thought it was, I could be wrong.
