So of course UPS tried to deliver my laptop while I was at the dentist. Or rather, they did deliver it, no matter if I was home or not. They didn't need a signature, they just left it on my doorstep. c.c What would have stopped anyone from walking off with it? What would stop me from saying it never arrived?

Anyway, laptop is good. Surprisingly it's housed in plastic, which was unexpected. I guess they did it for weight, but I'd rather have the better protection of metal. (Feels kind of cheap, too.)

Same issue I run into when buying things online, it's a lot bigger than I expected:

Lighting sucks, but I marked where my normal keyboard begins and ends with a red line. The laptop is as wide as a normal keyboard! The footprint of it is actually bigger than my desktop machine (behind it), but that's okay since it'll be flat instead of blocking the light.

The sound is amazing, it's better than my TV even. Picture is really nice. The monitor is nearly as big as my desktop one (wider but shorter). Not a bad thing, just surprising. (I know the Amazon page gives the measurements, but unless I pull out a ruler and map it out, I can't really picture it.)

So many things to reinstall! But at least I have both machines, so I can check one against the other and copy things over. So much less traumatic!

Laptops are pretty much always housed in plastic. You've got one heavy beast as it is. Metal would increase that weight by a ton! Glad it seems so nice.

Oooh. That makes sense! My desktop machine is housed in plastic, but I guess I expected laptops to be better protected since they might be carried around. Increase in weight makes sense though.

Your laptop looks a lot like mine! Mine's about as big as a keyboard with a similarly sized screen. Mine's housed in metal but that has created an overheating problem in the past, so maybe plastic is a good thing for you!

I wish my desk were as big as yours! My desktop and my laptop fit very awkwardly on my little desk right now.

Oh, I didn't think about that being an overheating issue!

My desk isn't really a desk, it's a folding table *cough* I'm so spoiled by the space, I'd love a desk but it even the biggest one seems too small. I miss having drawers, but again... space! :D

You have a similar setup to me. I have my desktop directly in front of me, and my laptop angled to the left of it.

I love the setup. I think I prefer it over two monitors, mostly because I can use one to browse the internet, and the other to play games and do secure work on. They both have a strong antivirus on them, but I still prefer to keep the two separate.

If I had room, I'd keep them as they are in the photo, yeah. Problem is, the laptop is where my dinner goes! :P Soon I'll be down to just one, as much as I'd like to keep both going.

My, my, Thistle. Your desk is starting to appear very hacker-like. I mean, needs another monitor or two in there. But you're getting there :)
