I love this icon. It's by that guy who does big batches of free icons. It really came out well. I love the little toes. I caught the artist's livestream a couple times, and it's really interesting to watch. Surprisingly, he works in traditional mediums -- all watercolors. Fast, too. Drawing and painting, he gets the whole thing done in maybe two minutes. I didn't even realize how simple the coloring is, until I watched him do it.

The icon is based on Ellie, who is doing much better now. Every time she has a serious... I don't know what to call it. Fear reaction, I guess. Every time she has one, it's like she turns a corner right after. After mauling my throat because she got scared at being picked up, suddenly she loves being in my arms. Against my shoulder, her head next to mine, my free hand patting her. So long as I remain standing up, she loves that. For some reason being held while I'm sitting doesn't make her happy and she wiggles to escape (and so I put her right down).

I had so much stuff I wanted to get done this weekend, but I got next to nothing finished. I didn't even get any reading done, which I was determined to do this weekend. Blah!

Included in the things I didn't do this weekend was finish my application for the RP on LJ game. I'm so close to being done! I just need two writing samples, that's easy! I can write! I wish I'd just sit down and do them, it's been a week or two now. I could be RPing there already!

I did poke my head into a MU*. The Lion King MUCK, to be exact. As far as I can tell, it looks quite alive. 15 folks online and seemingly active at 9:30 this morning. (Though I'll never fully trust that, I remember how we faked PokeMUSH looking active with staff alts...) I was surprised both at how much and how little I remembered. Apparently MUCKs don't have a +finger command, and I couldn't find the equivalent. But I was surprised at how many other commands I recalled, like news and globals. (Then I snickered at myself for being impressed that I remembered them. Not too many years ago I lived and breathed those commands... I WROTE those commands!)

I have zero ideas for a Lion King character (though I did note the name Thistle isn't taken yet, though I suspect it wouldn't be themely). I don't know if I intend to app there or on one of the other MU*s suggested in the previous post.

I tell you, RP on WoW is feast or famine. One week I got none at all, then this last week I had scheduled RP almost every night. Wacky! Heck, I got more RP today alone than I had that slow week!

So tired now. I have no idea at all how doing nothing all day could leave me tired, but it always does. I'm more tired on weekends than I am on work nights. I'd say I'm falling asleep at the keyboard, but Ellie keeps meowing for pats, so that keeps me awake.

If you like talking cats, pat your cat every time they meow! While it makes for a demanding kitty, Ellie is quite a bit more of a talker now than she was when I first got her. Louder as well, not just more frequent. Hopefully she'll keep talking more and more.

Word of the day is trundle, as in the verb, "trundled him off to school". It was used in RP tonight and made me stop and grin at it. I hadn't heard it in so long, but it's such a great word!

Edit: Tonight's Walking Dead. EEEEEEEEKKKKKK. What an opening! I love this show so much. :D

The +finger command on MUCKs is "pinfo". Like "pinfo simba". :)

Why is it not April?!

Gah! I've watched that a few times now, but I happily watched it again. Just another month to go!

Completely unrelated to anything in your post, but from a link in a post of mine to a food carnival, I found this (http://www.beyondsalmon.com/2011/08/50-cooking-videos-project.html) page of short how-to videos on cooking. Just watching the very first video, I learned a lot, and there are lots of videos on very basic things, so I thought it might be helpful for you.

Me too! I finally learned to make chicken a third good way. I need to post about it sometime, but the short version is it's this recipe here (http://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes/oven-fried-chicken/63392ed9-c33b-4e6b-887b-0f9c30e5e693?WT.dcsvid=NDE0ODEwNTkwNwS2&rvrin=F40A1E16-31EF-4449-9AEA-D3344F21AD6C&WT.mc_id=Newsletter_BC_02_23_2012&nicreatID2=Newsletter_BC_02_23_2012). Alas it's less healthy than the other two ways, but still, I'll keep doing it now and then.

Glad you found another way! Even if you can't do it a lot, being able to add some variety is really important for your ability to continue to do this. Food fatigue is a real thing. I'm assuming the flour is a big part of the issue for you. Could you try something like buckwheat flour, that has a much lower glycemic index, so you could have it a bit more often? If the butter's an issue (though I'd be very puzzled by that, since isn't diabetes the issue here?), there are a bunch of alterations on that page to cut down on that.

That's a good idea to try different flours, I hadn't thought of that. The butter comes in as weight/calories. It's so fun trying to cook low fat, low sodium, low sugar, and low calorie! Though at least with the first three, 'low calorie' usually just comes along for the ride.

'oly moley I remember the Lion King MUCK from my heavy MUCK days. I cannot believe it is still alive! Back then it used to have 50+ people at its peak hours. I was known as "Safiya" over there, hahaha.

I miss those days.

Yay a fellow MU*er! I was surprised to see it still going, too. 10+ years now, their news files say!

I'm not sure if I ever played on this version (I know there were a few Lion King MUCKs out there), but it's been way too long for me to remember any names. My brain is weak! :P

Agreed. MU*s were amazing, so much RP! Too bad there are so few around now.

It's such a small world! MUCKs had a considerably lesser population in comparison to MUDs and the likes. It's awesome to see/meet a fellow go'er who remembers the GOLDEN DAYS. I even helped run one, once upon a time.

And yes, there was so much RP to be had and the world felt so big. The drama also seemed very little - the wizards were good at policing that sort of things.

Yeah, I played on MUCKs, MUSHes, even some MOOs, though no MUDs.

And me too! I was head wiz for a few years on one, which was both fun and mega-stressful.

The drama also seemed very little - the wizards were good at policing that sort of things.

Yes. WoW is soo different! I miss things like an application process, too. Standards of RP!

OMGoodness! Which MUCK? :O

And my god it IS. The transition from MUCK roleplaying to LiveJournal was easy. Going from LiveJournal to WoW RPing was a bit of a culture shock for me. XD

PokeMUSH! Where were you staff? (Wouldn't it be funny if we knew each other that way?)

I'm glad MU* to LJ was easy! I'm about to take that step now, if I ever finish my darned application. (Funny how much I say that I want them on WoW, but I can't complete a single one myself!)

There are lots of good WoW RPers, but so many bad, bad, bad painfully awful ones, too.

IT WOULD BE HILARIOUS. Demi Haze MUCK! It was another animal-esque kind of Disney world. I was young and a sucker for those, what can I say! Unfortunately I never played on PokeMUSH.

YOU CAN DO EEEET. :D There are a lot of fantastic RPers which is why I keep coming back to the WoW-world. Those little diamonds between mountains of coal make it all worth it.

Ah, I haven't heard of Demi Haze before, but I like animal places!

And for sure! It's the good folks who keep me coming back. And you never know when you'll find another good person! :D

DEMI HAZE?! Wtf the world IS small. I don't remember who I used to play there BUT I WAS THERE.

I was also staff at Yukon Trails MUCK and a wizard on Crossroads MUCK, if you've ever heard of those.

I guess the number of animal-based MU*s was pretty small. XD

HOLY SHHHH WHAAAAAAAAT. Holy humpmonkey the world -IS- small. I've never played on Crossroads or Yukon Trails but I did hear of them.

:O I'm still floored people remember these places! Oh wow.

I was just thinking about pinfo the other day. XD I liked having little boxes of text that I knew I had to fill out. DESCRIPTIONS WERE CLEAR.

Sort of. I take that back.

I encountered a lot of MU* descriptions that told me how I was feeeeeeling or how some wolf gave me a scathing look while I looked at her fur or something. :o

Fiiiiiniiiiish yur app. XD I have to finish writing up my powers and do the two post examples too. But that's the easy part, mang! XD

From: [identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com
I know! I did the hard part, now I just have the easy part left. Sigh! It's so silly that it's taking me this long!

I encountered a lot of MU* descriptions that told me how I was feeeeeeling,

Ha, yes. "You look at her and feel fear to your very soul!". I remember things like that. :P

Ikr? XD But it's taken me just as long so you're not alone. :P The nice thing is that when you finally sit down to do the RP parts you'll probably come up with something creative that's just been floating around in your head all this time without even realizing it. That's the best!

Yes, hopefully! I'd say "Maybe tonight!", but I've been saying that for so long. Hopefully soon! Will be soon!
