Today is National Peanut Butter Lovers' Day! If for some reason you miss eating peanut butter today, don't forget that National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day is coming up on April 2nd!

Book 5 of 2012: Marque and Reprisal by Elizabeth Moon, book two in what turns out to not be a trilogy...

In book one of this series, we met the main character (Kylara Vatta) who was THIS CLOSE to being too good to be believable. Even with that, I still enjoyed the book. Lots of stuff happened. Ships flew around in space. Aliens were alas few and far between, but there was lots of characters and plot and that was good.

Book two, Marque and Reprisal, was even better. Kylara was less perfect, seemed to have a harder time of it. Plus there were even more space battles! And more interesting characters!

Unfortunately, if I had known this was a series and not a trilogy, I would have put off reading it. The third book is out now, I started it already, but then what? I'd rather have the whole series at my fingertips than have to wait years between books. (GRRM, I'm looking at you.) Unfortunately, if this were a long series, I might wait so long that I'd forget about it... Such is the trade-off between reading a series in progress and a completed one, I guess..

I started counting books this year because of the [livejournal.com profile] 50bookchallenge comm. I knew 50 books in a year would be impossible for me -- nearly a book a week? When I generally have less than an hour a day to read? Not going to happen. I thought I was reading a book a month, but turns out I'm about double that, so I'm pretty happy so far. A book every two weeks really isn't all that bad. Sure when I was a kid I could read a book a day, but things were different then (plus my eyes would never ever hold up to that much reading anymore).

In WoW news, I bought a second Crimson Deathcharger this afternoon. I overpaid for it (150K), but I've been kicking myself for passing them up in the past. I have no idea what I'm going to do with it, other than not resell it (MINE MINE MINE). I think I'm going to just hang onto it. On the off chance Thistle ICly becomes some other class, the new alt would need the mount, too. So for now, the wonderful horse lives in my guild bank with the Tabard of the Lightbringer. Poor Reed (paladin) was supposed to get the tabard, but I haven't been able to bring myself to bind it to him.

It's a five-book series - I've got all the books myself, and UK publishing often lags behind US, so hopefully you should be able to get hold of the remaining ones without too much difficulty. The last two are "Command Decision" and "Victory Conditions".

(I read them with a big gap between reading the first three and then each of the other two; by the time I read book 5 I'd forgotten most of what had happened before, which never helps.)

!! They're out now? Oh, yay! I must have missed them on Amazon.

by the time I read book 5 I'd forgotten most of what had happened before, which never helps.

That's why I like reading them in a row. I'm reading another series, the guy puts a book out a year, waiting on book #6. I never remember what's going on, but I don't want to have to read all the previous books again. :/
