Ellie New Cat is not fooled by your version of reality.

In general, Ellie doesn't eat people food. This does not mean she doesn't want it.

Whenever I eat, she comes and sits on the desk next to me and makes her little chirpy meow. "What's that you've got there? I know it's food!"

So, even though I know she will not eat it, I hold a little out to her. She sniffs it, then goes back to chirp-begging.

I put a small bit of the food down by her paws. I know she will not eat it. I know I'll have to clean the spot up. She sniffs it, then looks at me, hurt. "You haven't fooled me. You're eating food. I want some. Share what you're eating."

So I take another small bit of my food, eat half of it, offer her the other half. She watches me do this, but remains unconvinced that I'm sharing the good stuff.

Eventually she makes a louder meow at me, disappointed in my selfishness, then walks off.

If she'd eat the food, I'd be happier. I just know she's going to leave it behind, then I'll have to get up and throw the piece out, then clean up the spot. Silly cat, she can smell the food, she should know if she wants it or not!

By the way, they reduced the price on our cruise by $200 per person. You might want to check if your date has been, too. You must be leaving soon!

we made our final payment, along the way we saved $300 per person, so I just am NOT going to look anymore because after final payment no reductions.

Our older cat doesn't always eat so I end up cleaning and it is messy and I get frustrated with that...

Are you sure? I paid off the whole thing long ago, and they reduced my total and refunded my card earlier this week. It might still be worth checking! (I did email them twice first, which they 100% ignored, so I had to call in. The woman I spoke to didn't even bat an eye at my request.)

She's doing well, yep! It took nearly a year and a half, but she's finally settling down into a normal cat. I'm really happy, for both her and myself!

Ha, completely the opposite of my old cat Shredder (maysherestinpeace). :P Shredder never wanted much human food, but she always wanted - and ate - a taste, and if it was something she really liked she would go to ridiculous lengths to get that taste. Usually leading to a horrendous mess, as she stole a big chunk of whatever I was eating and left it under the bed after taking her nibble. I learned to give in gracefully. :P :)

Have you thought about keeping a coaster or similar on your desk to serve Ellie's bit of food on? That way you wouldn't have to clean your desk, at least... ;)

Huh, that's funny! Shredder would have made a good human child -- that's what parents are supposed to do, make their children have at least a taste of everything. "You don't have to eat it all, but you do have to try it."

And I hadn't, but that's a great idea! I really dislike having to put food down onto my desk for her.

That would have been her one and only good human-child habit, actually. She was a horrendous little brat, the most intelligent cat I've ever known and used her powers for Evil most of the time... but she loved me and me alone, and I loved her back. *sniffle* Ahem. Yeah. She wouldn't have been a picky eater, but her habit of biting anyone I paid attention to that wasn't her would have been a problem. Not to mention beating up every other child (cat) for blocks around, and attacking door-to-door salesmen, and... yeah. XD
