When they lend you the cage, you have to agree you'll keep it covered with a towel. It keeps the cat calmer. So, when I caught the stray overnight, when he was growling so much, I didn't uncover it because I didn't want to upset him. What I could see of the color looked right.

I caught a feral cat.

Poor thing was in the cage so long or was so scared that he peed on himself, so now my porch smells god-awful.

Plus side: They'll neuter the cat before they release him.

Down side: Siamese is still out. Porch smells.

I hosed down the cage and my porch, but it still smells. I suspect that the Siamese is going to have even less interest in going in it now.

I have no idea what Plan B is yet.

Congratulations on catching your first feral. Hopefully they will release him (her?) back to your same area... if you're lucky you'll see him again with his ear-tip snipped on one side. That's so people know he's feral/altered.

Hopefully you can get the siamese to approach you over time. As long as he keeps coming back and has food and water, it's probably not urgent, but if he's not feral he probably should get a chance at adoption eventually...

Take care!

Yep! He's going to get the ear snip (along with another snip!), then they're going to release him.

The Siamese is not feral for sure. I can almost pick him up (I think he'd let me, but not be happy about it, but I don't want to risk getting bitten or scratched).
