But! The reason for this post! All my life I've had long hair. Ever since I was a little kid. The shortest my hair has ever been was down to my shoulders. I HATE IT. I'm so sick of long hair! I'm tired of it getting everywhere. I'm tired of having to deal with it every day (or not deal with it, I just put it in a ponytail and that's it). SO! Tomorrow I have an appointment to get it all cut off.

I'm going to ask for this cut with bangs more like this. I know those are men, but I couldn't find the cut I want on a female model. Is it a male haircut? I don't care! I want it short short short like that. (I'd love to totally shave my head, that would be so easy and handy! But I'm not quite that brave.)

It's going to be so different! I don't really have the face for it (too round), but I don't care. I want it short!

Soon after I'm going to dye it, too. Blue? Pink? Purple? Or all three!

Spikes are cool, but I don't know if it'll do that. So long as it's short and headed in the right direction, it's all good!

Yeah I don't usually do anything with my hair either. I bring in a picture mostly for length and overall style and usually end up happy with it.

Short and easy are my two goals! I'm thinking it will take more time than it usually takes me (since I only pull it back into a ponytail), but it should take a lot less time to dry, so will likely balance out.

Not to be super obnoxious or anything... but if your hair is ten inches or more, maybe consider donating it to Locks of Love? If you're gonna chop it AAAAAALL off like that, seems a shame to have it go to waste...

I would actually suggest doing some research on Locks of Love. The numbers involved seem...less than great. They make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year and make very few wigs that they then require the recipient to pay for. There are other organizations (Wigs for Kids is supposedly a good one) that seem to be more charitable in their actual actions.

Yeah, and there's one place that uses them to clean up oil spills that are harming wildlife (apparently human hair is the best thing for that, who knew!).

If the haircutter will send it somewhere herself, I'll let her. If she hands it to me to do, I'll figure out a good place myself.

Be warned that bangs like those take a lot of work! I was surprised how much more work short hair needed vs. long hair (where I basically just brush it and tie it back or leave it loose). I didn't have it that short either, but even then I needed to make sure it was in the right place a hell of a lot more than I do now with long hair. You might want to have a chat with your hairdresser before you get it all chopped off to find a style that suits your face :) Good luck!

I love short hair! Not sure if you poke about on tumblr still but yesterday I posted a pic of myself (http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m9wad8fc7b1rshfm8o1_400.jpg) after I got my hair cut again. I had it cut short back in May anyway, but finally got around to getting it cut once more.

SO much easier to take care of.

You also might want to check out the fuckyeahfathaircuts tumblr (http://fuckyeahfathaircuts.tumblr.com/) regardless of your actual size-- lots of really cool hairstyles there, including those under the "short-hair" tag. In fact, that tumblr is what finally gave me the courage to get my hair cut so short again, earlier this year. :)

Yeah, I realized that earlier. I'm going to need to get trims! For the past many years, I've cut it myself every three or four months. Now I'm going to be going in on a regular basis! I'm oddly excited about that.

Ya, less work on hair is the best. I mean obviously if you're going to something important you spend more time on looks, even with shorter hair. But for every day stuff I'd probably go crazy is I had to fuss with my hair to avoid looking like a slob.

Oooh I bet this is going to be cute! I wish I had the hair for short styles but if I tried to cut my hair that short it'd be too short to straighten and I'd have a bit of an afro thing. XD

One of my good friends has a really cute short cut like that. She wore it to the convention and she got sweaty and tired running around and had a helmet on and everything and she just finger combed it and it was back to looking perfect again. SO JEALOUS of people who can do that. XD

I'm a litttttle worried about the afro thing. My father had hair that was tightly curly, and when I let my long hair air dry, it ends up wavy. One of the reasons I kept it long for so long was that I figured the weight of it kept it from going fully curly. I may end up looking like a poodle! :P
