I need a new alarm clock...

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing, that applies even to alarm clocks. My clock knows daylight savings time exists, it knows it has to move forward an hour in the spring and back an hour in the fall. It just doesn't know what exact day to do it. It helpfully changed my clock back an hour last night...
Nothing like waking up, checking your watch, and finding you need to be at work in 15 minutes.
Sorry I've not been posting much lately! Life is BUSY. Or rather, my job in the new group is. I haven't taken a lunch break all week, which is depressing as heck. I need to write more about job foo behind a locked post.
I saw my second Romney political ad last night. I swear, if he believes the things being said about him in them, someone should lock him up in a mental hospital. This one claimed that the world hated Obama, but if Romney was elected the world would love America again. (How exactly would that work? "LOVE US OR WE'LL BOMB YOU!!!"?) Reminds me of my favorite bumper sticker: American flag background with the words: Do what we say or we'll bring democracy to your country, too.
I'm feeling less nervous about the election. Most polls/experts I'm hearing are saying it's going to be pretty hard for Romney to win.
WoW is slowing down for me. Less/no time in the morning to play and not going home for lunch to check auctions = I'm getting reamed in the AH game. BUT! I keep telling myself I don't care. I'm crawling slowly towards gold cap again, I'm back at a comfortable (for me) level of gold. I don't like dailies. I'm back to not enjoying the game in general very much (outside of RP). I keep telling myself there's NO reason for me to begrudge putting time towards my paying job over putting it towards WoW. Most days I actually believe that, too.
Speaking of, time to get to work! Even if I'm not posting as much, I do make time to read my friendslist. It's often the bright point of my work day. :)

Date: 2012-11-02 08:18 pm (UTC)Most of us quite like Obama. We think he's several steps in the right direction, and proof that your nation isn't as everything-ist as the shouty people sometimes make it seem. He's quiet and pretty grey, and that's not a bad thing for the person with the biggest boots in international relations. Even better, he hasn't started any more wars for us to help fight.
Romney, on the other hand... yeah. No. Your left is our right, and your right are totally, completely, utterly nucking futs. There are a hundred and one reasons why I don't like Romney, and why the idea of him in the White House for the next four years gives me chills.

Date: 2012-11-02 08:44 pm (UTC)Arg. Tuesday. All this will be over late Tuesday/early Wednesday. Just please please let it go the right way.
The shame I feel that he's even considered an option in this country...

Date: 2012-11-03 03:59 am (UTC)I fail to see how Romney is so anti-women when he is on record as being the only Governor I'm aware of (of either gender, I might add) to have at least 50% of his staff be women, and many were in high-ranking and high-paying positions. There have been quite a few women out there defending him as an equal-opportunity employer who goes out of his way to mentor and help women advance in business... Just because he's pro-life means he's anti-women?
No one is going to tell you you can't vote, do business, get equal pay, etc.

Date: 2012-11-03 04:18 am (UTC)Of course they are. He's also going to make sure they get the hours at work they need so they can work a full time job as well as get home in time to cook dinner for their husbands and raise their families (his words, paraphrased). Welcome to the 1950s. Bring your husband his slippers and a drink then go make him dinner.
Romney's said repeatedly he's not going to ban abortion
What hasn't Romney said? I don't think that man could tell a truth if you paid him. It's not clear yet that he'll say anything? That the moderator of a debate had to call him out on a lie? That he lies in television ads? That the man he picked as his VP lies endlessly as well? I wouldn't trust Romney if he said the sky was blue. I'm sad and amazed that anyone would. (Seriously. He lied in a TV ad about car companies, and the major car companies put out a press release calling him on the lie. Did you miss that? Couple days ago? Has a company EVER done that before in such a high profile way?)
Not to mention, speaking of his VP, the man who is against abortion even in the case of rape. Way for Romney to show he's pro-choice, by picking a man so violently anti-choice.
to have at least 50% of his staff be women
Binders of women, right? A study by the University of Massachusetts and the Center for Women in Politics and Public Policy shows that the percentage of women in senior positions during his tenure actually declined. It went from 30% when Romney took office to 27% when he left and up to more than 33% after the new governor took over. (http://www.cnn.com/2012/10/17/opinion/cardona-binders-women/index.html)
No one is going to tell you you can't vote, do business, get equal pay, etc.
No, they're just going to tell me I what I can and can't do with my body.
Do you not see how he's hurting families? "Traditional" families are not the only families out there. "One man and one women" BS.
Gods above, I can't believe I'm ... I just can't. If you can't see how this man will hurt people, hurt the country, hurt the world, hurt ME personally, then there's nothing I can say that will convince you. I'm not interested in debating it.

Date: 2012-11-03 05:13 am (UTC)That line about women going home to take care of their family, mind you, were are the request of the women. He didn't dictate they had to go home early, they -wanted- to be home when their kids got out of school so they could take care of them.
Also seriously? You're complaining about ROMNEY lying? After Obama has been lying for 3 years, lied to cover his ass about everything going on and how peachy things are in the middle east until it blew up in his face, getting Americans killed? And I must have missed that because all I saw here in Detroit were adds taken out by car companies and auto workers saying they can't take another 4 years of this.
Romney picked Ryan for his economic skills, not his social values, everyone knows that. Hell, even I don't agree that it should be illegal in the case of rape, I just think it should NOT be tax-payer-funded. If Romney wanted social values in a running mate there were a half dozen other people that would have looked a lot better on the ticket. He's running on the economy and Obama is trying to make this about social issues.
Frankly, I'm disappointed that you're drinking the koolaid that because someone doesn't want to force companies to provide things in healthcare packages that are against their owners' religious beliefs, that the person hates women. He's not trying to make contraceptives or abortion illegal, for crying out loud. How is this hurting you?
And sorry, you know I stand for the 'one man, one woman' and I always have. I also can't see how this will hurt people because I can't see where he's going to be doing all these things you're in a tizzy over him doing. o_O He's running on making jobs. And frankly, we need some here in Michigan. Obama's 'green' cars that were supposed to kickstart Michigan's economy all went belly up and cost us a few factories and a lot more jobs.

Date: 2012-11-03 02:57 pm (UTC)"I'm going to reply unless you specifically tell me to stop."
I see I'll have to be clearer in the future.
Edit: Though in an "amusing" (not really amusing) twist, this reminds me of the debate. Romney ignoring the moderator telling him to stop just so he can get the last word in.

Date: 2012-11-02 10:35 pm (UTC)Eh, that's incorrect on both counts, frankly. No, electing Romney won't make people love us. NOTHING we do will ever manage that, we've done the smash people and the apology tour and we're still getting attacked. People who ideologically hate us are going to hate us no matter what we do or who we elect. My only argument there is that Obama is more in line with the European government-pays-for-everything thinking and less likely to retaliate on people who want us dead. *coughBENGHAZIcough*
Frankly, I care less about being liked globally than I do about having a strong economy and a strong country that people aren't willing to risk the retaliation of screwing with us. I don't condone war, I'm not saying we should be fighting wars. The LAST thing I want is anyone to get hurt or die, on any side. I am, however, a strong believer in 'peace through strength'. (And minding our own damn business, we never should have messed with trying to establish our idea of democracy the middle east, and Obama is just as guilty of that as Bush, he just used more drones to unseat dictators.)
Also I still maintain you are a closet Capitalist in your WoW Auction House Empire. ;3
