What a night last night was. Four TV shows on at the same time that I wanted to see! Yay for Tivo and downloading.

Walking Dead: Watched real time.
Game of Thrones: Downloaded, will watch tonight.
Celebrity Apprentice: Recorded.
Big Brother Canada: Downloaded.

I liked it. At 10 minutes to the end (which turned out to be 15 minutes until the end, since it ended at 10:05), I worried that it was going to end on a cliffhanger. That would have pissed me off. But instead they got to a nice ending point, so yay.

I'm really, really glad they're staying in the prison. Really, what safer place to be? And that they brought all the kids and old folks in from Woodbury was nice. Nice of them and nice because it will be a bigger pool of people to interact with.

I had no great love for Andrea, but I knew when she was bitten that most of the fanbase on the net would be cheering, so I was happy for them.

I had hoped the Governor would be killed off by the end of the ep, but that didn't happen. At least he killed his own army off, so he's less of an issue now? I really, really do not like the character, he's just way too over the top. (Though at least we didn't have to see the torture room in action...)

Before all the shows started, I watched Lion King. I've been avoiding watching it again. It's probably been 10+ years since I last saw it. I loved it so much that I didn't want to watch it again and maybe ruin my memory of it. But I was watching Mulan and Lion King started next, and before I could change the channel the first song caught me, and there was no escape.

Watching it again, I found that the movie stayed the same, but I had changed. I had backed Scar so intensely, I had thought he was the wronged one, that he was justified in everything he had done. Now I'm wondering what younger me had been smoking. Scar could have had a place. Second place yeah, but that's better than nothing. He could have been a good uncle and helped raise Simba to be a good king, but instead he tried to kill him and Mufasa.

I still very much disliked all the Timon and Pumbaa parts. The "humor" (which didn't amuse me one bit), felt out of place. (Though, kids movie, so I know why they did it.)

Oddly, though it's been so many years since I last saw it, I was able to mouth all the dialogue and songs nearly word for word. I knew when characters would raise their head, look that way, all the details.

Games! My first attempt to get into a beta succeeded! I'm in the Final Fantasy XIV beta. :D FFXI has been on my mind so much lately, I'm hoping I'll really enjoy XIV. I'm going to download it tonight after work. :D

Edit: Wow, and today's Awkward Stock Photo:

I actually got an FFXIV beta invite because I played the first incarnation, but I decided to decline. I want to be surprised when the actual game comes out. Does that sound weird?

Not at all! That's why I usually never try to get into betas. In this case it's different because I don't think I'll play the actual game. (Though if I fall in love with it in the beta, then that would change.)

It's sort of like spoilers, I generally avoid those like the plague.

Man, I totally didn't see them killing Andrea off or the Governor not dying or them bringing all the women and children back to the prison. Initially, I wasn't sure if I liked how it ended (as someone on twitter noted, there didn't feel like there was any kind of resolution and it was anti-climactic), but the more I've processed through it, I think I liked it because it wasn't what I was expecting.

I'm still pissed as hell about Andrea, though. Her entire existence on the show, I wanted to like her, but I feel like the writers kept sabotaging that by making her stupid. All through that last episode, I was screaming inarticulately (and sometimes articulately) at how she was behaving, like "CAN'T YOU WALK AND CHEW BUBBLEGUM AT THE SAME TIME??? CAN'T YOU TALK TO MILTON AND GO FOR THE PLIERS SIMULTANEOUSLY? GOD DAMMIT, WHY MUST YOU BE TOO STUPID TO LIVE ALL THE TIME?"

But I loved her death scene mostly because of Michone and then how they shot Rick and Daryl and Tyrese waiting outside the room waiting for the gun shot.

I don't know if you watch "The Talking Dead", but I've watched it the last couple of weeks and last night's was awesome. They had an actress on who is just a fan and she had some amazing analysis and was funny and talking about ships and how Chris Hardwick (the host) joins her ships all the time, and right now she is shipping Michone/Rick and her comments about it were hysterical.

Cuts work in comments? Well then woot! Edit: Apparently not for me. Spoilers below!

Agreed on everything in your first paragraph. I'm still reading through forums and such, and the majority of people thought it was boring, but I liked it. I liked that it ended on a quiet note. I wish the Governor had been killed, but other than that? I'm okay with everything. I'm especially okay with them killing off Andrea -- I have hopes that one of the new folks will fill the role better.

YES YES YES. Why did she STOP TRYING TO GET THEM while she talked? Stupid, stupid, stupid. Someone on a forum said "She died like she lived: Stupid". She didn't successfully accomplish one thing this season (other than apparently getting a pedicure).

Agreed on Michone, too. I felt worse for her than I did for Andrea. I wish we had seen more of their relationship.

Yep, I love the Talking Dead! Somehow I didn't know it existed for the first season of the show, but since then I watch it every time. It's fun that Hardwick is such a fan, and I love the memorial they always do for the dead (usually zombies, which makes it all the more amusing). I haven't seen last night's though, but maybe I'll watch it tonight. (It sure is nice having a whole list of things I really want to watch all waiting for me! Probably GoT and Talking Dead tonight, though with the beta I might only get to GoT.)

It's LJ-SPOILER instead of LJ-CUT, but otherwise, yes. :) (Also works in posts, but I've reverted back to primarily using LJ-CUTs because of the 'Collapse' feature)

Watch Talking Dead tonight, it's amazing. :) And I watched Game of Thrones last night, too, and just read the Mary Sue review and agree it was kind of slow going and I missed a lot of the characters they didn't cover, but the teaser for next week (or the season, not sure what it was) showed scenes from all the rest of the (missing) characters and ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Can't wait. So happy GoT returned just as TWD was ending so I'm not having to jones for both of them simultaneously (for a while).

Ah! Somehow I missed that LJ-SPOILER existed.

The TV schedule really works out well this year. Walking Dead ends just as Game of Thrones starts, then Teen Wolf starts when GoT ends. And by the time TW ends, Homeland should be nearly about to start again. Last year things stacked up and there were too long periods with nothing I really wanted to watch.

My friend doesn't follow Teen Wolf or Homeland, but she said Dexter and True Blood match up after TWD and GoT ending as well.

Mine were The Good Wife, Vikings, Selfridge and Call the Midwife, all last night.

But -- due to our friend smashing her kneecap, we went up to Queens and fixed her dinner, etc., and we watched -- Disney's 1953 Peter Pan! None of us had seen it ever.

Love, C.

I still have to try Vikings. One of my friends likes it a lot, so I hope it works for me as well.

When I was a kid, I saw 1953's Peter Pan in the theater. Not the original showing, but one of those re-releasing that Disney sometimes does. I can't remember a thing about it though...

I love the Lion King so much!

The first song grabbing you is... I think they knew darn well how that song worked. I remember hearing they were doing that movie and thinking fff, I don't care about talking animals, I don't want to see that, and then the preview was in fact just the first song.

And my best friend and I both sat there going O.O and then said, "... yeah I guess we have to see that."

I like Timon and Pumbaa because... well. This is hard for me to admit, but I'm a lot like Timon. I'm a hardass loudmouth when I'm among friends, but when the hyenas come out I'm going to hide in the ribcage with Rowan Atkinson and go PLEEAAAAAAAAAAASE DON'T EAAAAAAT ME.

I think my favorite these days is Lilo and Stitch though. But then, I'm from Memphis, Tennessee. So duh.

Yeah, when I saw Beauty and the Beast in the theater, Lion King was the preview. The song played and I just sat there, slack jawed, thinking I NEED TO SEE THAT RIGHT NOW.

but when the hyenas come out I'm going to hide in the ribcage with Rowan Atkinson and go PLEEAAAAAAAAAAASE DON'T EAAAAAAT ME.

Ahahaha. I think that is a PERFECTLY REASONABLE reaction to hyenas! :D
