I read a lot of food blogs, but unfortunately (especially when it comes to fast food reviews), I tend to not be able to trust them. They seem to always say only good things (I suspect so that fast food companies will keep sending them free gift cards). Every review of Jack in the Box's blueberry muffin oatmeal was glowingly positive, but I didn't believe them. Today I tried it out anyway, and WOW. It did taste just like blueberry muffins! Wonderfully warm and sweet!
Based on how sweet it tasted, I dreaded looking up the nutritional information. Turns out it's not bad at all. 200 calories -- very reasonable! The carbs were higher than I wanted though (42, can be knocked down to 40 because of the fiber).
The only downside is that the container was surprisingly small. Not tiny, but less than I'd really want as my whole breakfast.
So: Recommended!
There's an odd thing going on with swimming. After I come home, my eyes are fine. Not red, not burning, nothing unusual. When I wake up the next morning? They're so puffy I can hardly open them, plus red and burning. We don't go underwater in the class, and because I wear contacts I use goggles to keep from even getting splashed in the eyes.
Could it be the very bright sunlight, especially with it reflecting off the water? A delayed reaction to the fumes of chlorine? A delayed reaction to the pressure of the goggles against my eyes? Nothing seems to make sense. It must be swimming related though, I swim Monday-Wednesday-Friday and it happens every morning after, but never on the mornings after my non-swim days.
On a positive note, I don't seem to need the Dramamine. I thought maybe the puffy eyes were a reaction to that, so I didn't take it yesterday (instead making sure I ate an hour-ish before going, as opposed to having eaten 6-7 hours before all the previous times). No nausea at all! Yay!

Date: 2013-05-21 03:01 pm (UTC)When I was having my serious eye problems, it was always waking up in the mornings that were the worst. My eyes tend to dry out overnight even now, so I use an over-the-counter ointment that I put in right before I go to bed to help keep them moist. That might be helpful for you, though I'd say check with your optometrist first.
Oh, and do you use eye drops with your contacts? If so, you may want to put them in right before you start swimming and right after you stop.

Date: 2013-05-21 03:12 pm (UTC)You wrote about Amazon bugging you for a review, right? I was wondering if you were sure it was Amazon and not some seller working through the site? I've had sellers request that I leave feedback, but never Amazon itself, so I was wondering if that was something new.
I don't usually use eyedrops, but I could. And I'm VERY sensitive to the bright light. Everyone else in the class wears sunglasses, but I can't with the goggles. (I wonder if they make goggles with built-in sun protection?)
Also: Darned Google, do you know how hard it is to type "goggle" correctly?

Date: 2013-05-21 03:19 pm (UTC)I need to complain to LJ support again, not that it seems to be doing much good. :/
Anyhow, yeah, it was Amazon, not the seller, because I bought them directly from Amazon and when I replied "Stop nagging me!" just to see what would happen, I got an auto-reply from Amazon.
Definitely look into tinted goggles. I have to imagine they exist somewhere. In the meantime, use eye drops and drink water (seriously, it helps) and take breaks from the computer/reading every so often.
And yes, especially since "Google Goggles" are a thing.

...hahaha. "You don't want to hear from us, do you?! *sends more mail!*"
And yeah, LJ's support tends to suck, sadly. :/

Date: 2013-05-21 04:19 pm (UTC)There's a semi-local mail order place I liked ordering from when I was swimming regularly four years ago (I think they're out of Palo Alto). I'll try to remember to dig out the URL at home and give it to you.

Date: 2013-05-21 04:26 pm (UTC)If you ever want to start swimming again, check with your town! Doing it through my town is cheap (I think? $72 for nine lessons, or $8 per hour long lesson if you want to buy it that way -- prices seem reasonable to me, but I haven't checked elsewhere). Unfortunately you don't get to pick and choose the hours you go, but in SV the pools are really nice.
Oh! And what was the thing that made you stop watching Little Mosque in season three? I've given up on it as well (also in season three). For me it's the whole wedding/love triangle thing. I'm just so not interested in that sort of storyline, and it started in the beginning of season two and showed no sign of ending.

Date: 2013-05-21 10:41 pm (UTC)Googles at SwimToWin.com - including several tinted and mirrored versions.
I was looking at that, though, and my next thought was that it may be a reaction to either, yeah, the pressure on your eyes from the eyecups or maybe an allergic reaction to the rubber.
I wore contacts in the pool all the time. If you never go under water, try going without the goggles or wear a pair of sunglasses like you say your classmates do.
If you don't wear the goggles or sunglasses (still dealing with sun) and don't get a reaction, then it's definitely something with the goggles. If you react with no goggles but don't react wearing sunglasses, then it's the sun reflection. :/
If you ever want to start swimming again...
Haha, obviously you don't recall me talking extensively about this last fall. I know exactly how much it costs and where to go in my area, but thank you. :)

Yup, that. I didn't mind it so much, but

Oops, I don't! Sorry! I remember you went for a long time in that Olympic place. (I was eyeing it before finding the town pools/classes.)
Re Little Mosque: Ahh, yeah. I didn't HATE IT ENDLESSLY, just mildly disliked it -- enough for it to kill my interest in continuing. Wiki says in the third season it only had a quarter of the viewers it originally had (and only went further downhill from there). I guess other folks felt the same.
