Mostly a reminder to myself, ignore at will. Also, likely a spoiler (though guessed) to If You Are Prepared.

The writer quoted Jesus Christ Superstar in one of the earlier chapters. Early on in the story, I saw where this story is headed. To quote JCS:

"This Jesus must die."

But... but... but... She's setting up Snape as Judas, I bet. And in the last (and best, IMO) production of JCS (on PBS), Judas wasn't a bad guy. He loved Jesus and wanted to save him. And Snape loves Harry and wants to save him.

But both Harry and Jesus have/had to die...

Quote from the story (Snape is thinking):
"I see him differently. I, alone, remark the shadows that have taken up permanent residence under those eyes, which are not quite as bright as they once were. His cheeks are hollowed and his grin is not without a tinge of sadness. Those who love him look blindly past who he is to see the boy he was."

Those who loved Jesus killed him. (Please don't take me as a religious person, I'm not at all. I loved JCS, and it's mostly all I know about all this.) All these HP fictional (in-story) fans love Harry, but they're going to (indirectly) kill him. And in JCS no one saw the pain Jesus was in, EXCEPT FOR JUDAS. And in this story, Snape is the only one who is really seeing the truth with Harry.

GAH.

Maybe I won't sleep tonight and keep reading... if only tomorrow wasn't going to be a hell-day at work.

interesting...

i like the snape/judas connection. i won't say you're mistaken, but i have to say that when i wrote that part of the story i literally giggled hysterically for about five minutes imagining snape as mary magdelene singing 'i don't know how to love him'.

yet, if he said he loved me
i'd be lost i'd be frightened
i couldn't cope, just couldn't cope
i'd turn my head, i'd (fly?) away
i wouldn't want to know...

*giggles and wipes tears*

your theory is far less ridiculous. heh.

Hello! Thanks for replying to my posts. It surprised me quite a bit. :)

I don't know how well you know JCS, but did you know that Judas sings that same song near the end of the play? Exact same wording, timing, all that, the same as Mary's version. It's so sad and sweet and scary (in a good way); that's what I was thinking of.

On a semi-side note, if you haven't seen the version of JCS that was on PBS a year or so back, I highly recommend it. It's out on DVD and can be rented at various places. Judas is such a wonderful, beautiful, tragic character. He loves Jesus so much, but Jesus loves Mary and so pushes him aside, pushes Judas's caring and concerns aside. I've wondered lately if there was JCS slash, but I cannot bring myself to do a websearch for "Jesus/Judas slash", I just giggle too much at the thought.

Is it really really wrong of me to be gleeful at the thought of how many people would be insanely pissed at that type of slash? :-D

Not at all! That's why I giggle myself to death before I can bring Google up to search for it! Can you imagine the looks on the faces of certain groups of people?

I HATE small-minded people. And that's all I'll say about that for the moment.

Meanwhile if you DO find slash on that subject I'll laugh my butt off!
