There will be a lack of links in this post, as I don't want to pinpoint where I live.

Alternate title for this post: Be careful what you wish for.

I was driving through the town I live in, looking for somewhere to have lunch. A new building was going up, and I said to myself "I hope it's somewhere interesting to eat". Then I spotted the "Chick-Fil-A Coming Soon!" sign.

Chick-Fil-A. Here. How can that be? An actively homophobic company in the San Francisco Bay Area.

As soon as I got home, I started doing some research. Turns out they tried to open a store one town over, and the residents blocked them (through zoning laws, unfortunately not because it's a company of hate). Unfortunately my town had had hearings on them moving in, but I've never seen a hearing announcement for anything (they're not exactly something I ever seek out or usually care about), so I had no idea.

I wish I could hope that the people here just won't patronize that business, but the place has a great location in a town that has 30+ minute lines for even just fast food at lunchtime.

I'm going to have to see that place every time I drive anywhere. Every time I go to work. Every time I go to swim. Multiple times a day. I don't know how I'm going to resist throwing rocks at the window or something.

Go away anti-equality, pro-hatred people, and take your chicken sandwiches with you.

San Jose already has a Chick-fil-a :( It's always SUPER busy too. I hate them. Even if they weren't homophobic everything is drenched in peanut oil...

Oh peachy. I had read mention of one, but one site said it was now closed, so I hoped they were all gone from the area.

Peanut oil + homophobia = not good eats!

I mean I guess it's possible it was closed but it was open at least last month and super busy (huge drive thru line) at the time... It's the one at the @First shopping center. Would be nice if that one happened to close since the last time I was there, I just wonder why they would close it since it seemed to be extremely popular.

And yeah I have to agree about that equation @_@

Ah, if it was busy, it likely didn't close since then. Maybe there was another one around here that closed? Way too many of them, whatever the answer is. :/

Yeah...as for another one I don't know, I thought (wishful thinking?) that that was the only one in the area so I have no idea haha.

But anyway 1 is too many, ugh.

My wife loved chic-fil-a. They're all over the place here, and the protests/counterprotests around them got...interesting. There were a few days where crowds of people of a variety of orientations were standing in the parking lot making out. Best Protest Ever.

After that whole mess, Chic-Fil-A did at least admit fault, but I found replacements for tasty chicken (Long live Champys! local landmark, awesome chicken, and sometimes crawfish) so my wife wouldn't miss it and we haven't been back.

Hahaha most amusing protest ever!

I wish they weren't homophobic; I love fast food fried chicken sandwiches, but I refuse to give my money to them. I love equal rights more than I do (assumedly) tasty chicken!

We don't have Chic-Fil-A here in Canada, or at least not around my part of Canada. I always mentally hear the name as Chick-Filler, which causes this weird combination of amusement/squick.

For some reason my brain reversed part of their name, so for years I pronounced it "chick-a-fill" in my head, which made no sense at all, though did sound kind of cute. Chick-Filler made me snicker!

Oh holy crud. I'm not the only person who thought it was "chick-a-fill?"

Ha! Apparently not! I thought that was something unique to my messed up brain!
